He was 96 years of age. John Victor Bilokreli was born on March 10, 1920 on the family farm near Theodore. He was the first of nine children born to Nick John and Frances (nee Roebuck) Bilokreli. John was raised in a close, loving, happy family back when life was simple. Many family picnics were held at Kornitski’s lake, followed by a visit to Grandma Roebuck’s house. John and his brothers loved to play hockey, wearing uniforms sewn by their mother and played with hockey pucks fashioned from frozen horse manure. He received his education in Theodore. In 1936 John started farming and three years later began to purchase purebred Hereford cattle. In 1941 his farming was put on hold when he was called to serve in the army. He began his basic training in Regina but illness, first scarlet fever followed by rheumatic fever, prevented him from continuing and he was given a medical discharge in 1943. John returned to the farm and continued to build up his herd of cattle. In his younger years, John participated in local rodeos and throughout his life remained a rodeo fan travelling to Sturgis and Sheho to attend their rodeo days. Every year he enjoyed following the daily events of the Calgary Stampede. John and his brother, Murray farmed together for many years and following his retirement in 1985, John continued to live on the farm and help with seeding and harvest. John lived a simple life on the farm he loved so much. Not one for social activities, John truly enjoyed being with people, relaying stories about past and present events. His mind was sharp as a tack and even in his later years could remember and recite names, places and events without hesitation. John was also a kind, soft spoken man who had a special affection for children. He was never extravagant but whenever he came to visit his nieces and nephews or arrived for his regular visit to the home of Uncle Mike Roebuck, he never came empty handed. His “go to” treat was a wagon wheel. This tradition carried on with his great-nieces and nephews who were like grandchildren to him. Their memories of Uncle Johnny are of wagon wheels, bottles of pop and big bowls of jello which he made for them. John was a regular visitor at many friends, neighbours and family homes and his quick visits provide many stories and memories retold today. In his later years John enjoyed trips to Yorkton, visits to the casino and of course, driving around Theodore. Many would recognize his vehicle checking out the activities of the town. It was John’s desire to live out his life on his farm and as a family we are grateful for the friends and neighbours who helped John achieve this. A special thank you to Gary and Betty Walker and Robert Stuart for their friendship and assistance in John’s later years and to all of his friends and neighbours who never hesitated to check in with him and help if needed. John is survived by his brother, Jim of Yorkton; sisters-in-law, Nellie Bilokreli of Saskatoon, Dorcas Bilokreli of Yorkton and Edith Bilokreli of Yorkton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Frances Bilokreli; brothers, Edward, Murray, Walter, Mike, Rudy and sisters, Helen and Eunice. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Theodore United Church officiated by Reverend Brad Wudrich. The organist, Arlene Fenske led the congregation and church choir in the singing of the hymns, “Softly and Tenderly” , “I, the Lord of Sea and Sky” and “In The Bulb There is a Flower” . The special taped music recessional was Stompin’ Tom Connor, “Poor, Poor Farmer” . Following a luncheon in the Theodore Rec Centre, the Cremation Committal took place in the Theodore Town Cemetery, Theodore, SK with John’s brother, James Bilokreli serving as the Urn Bearer. Friends so wishing may make donations in John’s name to the charity of their choice as tokens of remembrance. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. WOOD - Tom was born October 8, 1922 in Yorkton, SK. He was one of seven children and the only son of Alice and William Ernest (Ernie) Wood. He attended school at rural Grunert School and after finishing his education, he farmed with his father during the height of the Great Depression. As a young man, Tom helped out as a crew member with threshing outfits. Tom married Vera Wood (Bailey) from Oungre, SK on July 19, 1945 and together they farmed and raised a family. Tom’s father was a founding member of Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He thought that farmers could have a stronger future if they pulled together. This belief didn’t waiver and was passed on to him. Tom was a life- time member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He felt honoured to be elected as a Delegate by his fellow farmers from 1971-1987. He had a great love of the farm and showed pride in growing a good crop. Tom taught his children responsibility through caring for these farm animals. He loved to visit with friends and neighbours over a cup of coffee and the conversation always got around to farming. He loved to garden and the beautiful yard that now exists is founded in all the work that he started. He was a life-time member of Saskatchewan Co-operative Hail Insurance and served as a Director for 10 years. He also served as a Delegate to the Canadian Co-operative Implements Ltd. and the Yorkton Co-op. He served as well on the Board of the Yorkton Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition Association for 20 years. Over the years, he served his community on the Orkney United Church Board, the Grunert Rural School Board and the Orcadia Community Club. Tom enjoyed music and playing the violin. MORRIS - Vernon was born on July 10, 1945 to George and Helen Morris of Bangor, SK. He was the oldest boy in the family of five children. As a toddler, Vern moved with his parents and older sisters Evelyn and Adeleine to Yorkton, where his younger siblings Raymond and Wendy were born. As a boy, Vern attended Victoria Elementary School and the Yorkton Collegiate Institute (YCI). He was an intelligent student and although quiet in nature, he was an active and fun loving youngster. Raymond remembers playing hockey with Vernon on the driveway of their home and in the street with their friends. When Vern’s father built an ice rink for the children in the backyard, they played “Hockey Night in Canada”. Vern loved to build things as a child. He constructed many model airplanes and cars as well. One of the planes he built had a little motor and he spent many hours trying to fly it with a string attached. Evelyn

remembers that he wanted to be a pilot. Popular mechanics was his favourite magazine at the time and his inventive father sometimes browsed through the latest issue with him. As a young man while employed at the Morris Rod Weeder Company, he designed the company’s first curved hitch under the direction of engineer Dave Dobson. Fishing was also a passion for Vern. He loved to read the Fish and Game magazine and enjoyed fishing with his father, brother, brother-in-law Vern Sylvester and friends. He was athletic and played recreational hockey, golfed and curled. He was a fan of sporty cars, particularly Ford Cougars. As a teen- ager, Vern had a great love of popular music and listened to a diverse range of artists. He had an impressive vinyl collection and would often listen to music with his younger sister Wendy: “He introduced me to music I had never heard before, like Joan Baez, Marvin Gay, Duane Eddy and the Glen Yarborough and the Limeliters. It was such great music and we really had a lot of fun together”. As an older teen, Vernon was afflicted with the mental illness schizophrenia. His family was heartbroken and his father explored every avenue that was available to help his oldest son overcome his malady. Although Vern was accepted to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology to study Architectural Engineering, he was not able to complete the course due to his mental health. In his later years, Vernon had physical challenges, but these issues did not affect his outlook on life. He kept his sense of humour and like his father, had the courage and determination of a lion in his kind heart. He never considered giving up on life. Vernon was greatly loved by his parents and his siblings. His father visited him daily after he left home until Mr. Morris was no longer able to drive. His sister Evelyn often invited Vern to her home in Yorkton and visited with him regularly when he moved to Saskatoon in 2009. Vernon was fortunate in his later life to have Jollean Ireland as his caregiver, who was dedicated to his comfort and well being. Vernon was predeceased by his father George in 1989 and his mother Helen in 1993. He is survived by his siblings Evelyn, Adeleine, Raymond and Wendy Morris and his son Clayton Belitski and grandchildren Aleese, Marcus and Lucus Belitski. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, B.Th. officiating. Words of remembrance were given by his sister Adeleine. Special music, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ (Elvis Presley), ‘Forever Young’ (Joan Baez) and ‘It’s a Wonderful World’ (Louis Armstrong). A poem ‘Do Not Go Gentle Into That Night’ by Dylan Thomas was read. The interment took place in the family plot at the Llewelyn Cemetery with Clayton Belitski, Cameron Sylvester, Reagan Flaherty, Wayne Stephens, John Wach and David Dobson serving as the casket bearers. Condolences may be left at baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials were to the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan.

Marie WilsonJune 24/1929 - May 21, 2006

You lled our world with special joy and happiness untold,

You always had a sunny way and a lovely heart of gold.

You made life so much brighter just by being thoughtful too,And saying kind and helpful

things was typical of you. That’s why it’s hard to face the world and know you won’t be

there, lighting up life so warmly with your smile beyond compare. The memories you’ve left behind

grow sweeter day by day,But you are missed

dear loved one, more than any words can say.

Forever remembered, Missed by sister Iris

PLAN NUMBER 1-3-555

EXPANSIVE OPEN LIVING PLAN

An open living plan, with an expansive great room and more than 1,200 square feet of floor space, gives this straight-entry home plenty of modern-day appeal. Designed for main-floor living, the plan includes an unfinished basement for future expansion and is sure to be particularly appealing to first-time home buyers.

Inside the entrance, a planter ledge and a display stand offer the opportunity to add fea-ture interest in the foyer area.

Bedroom No. 3, imme-diately off the front door, has an attractive bay win-dow and is designed with a built-in desk for an easy conversion to home office or den, if desired.

The master bedroom at the rear of the house has a window seat that adds character to the room and provides a cozy space to enjoy a relaxing read or an early morn-ing cup of tea. A walk-in closet and three-piece en suite bathroom complete the suite.

Bedroom No. 2, next door, is across the hall

from the main bathroom and adjacent to the laun-dry room.

The main living area is contained in the expansive great room that includes all the fea-tures desired by today’s homeowners. A free-standing work island offers additional meal-preparation space and also has a raised bar for those casual snacks or quick coffees.

The dining area of the room has an option for an inverted buffet stand and a door provides access to the covered portion of the sun deck.

A generous amount of space has been allowed for the living/family area and a corner fireplace will give the room a cozy feeling during the colder months.

Storage space is well provided, with a coat cupboard in the foyer, a linen cupboard next to bedroom No. 2 and, of course, the basement area.

The double garage has a side door as well as entrance to the home through the laundry room.

A 10-foot-high covered entrance; horizontal sid-ing and brick accents grace the exterior of the

house, which is 38 feet, 8 inches wide and 62 feet, 4 inches deep with 1,278 square feet of living space.

Plans for design 1-3-555 are available for $655 (set of 5), $710(set of 8) and $754 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges.

Our NEW 48TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is avail-able for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and han-dling). Make all cheque and money orders pay-able to “JENISH HOUSE DESIGN LTD” and mail to:

You will have to for-give me for being in the minority. The Leader-Post released a story on Monday that says if the federal election were to be held again, the Liberals would have even more support than what they did in October. This means their honey-moon, not only, isn’t over with the Canadian pub-lic, but their momentum is continuing to grow. Maybe I’m a tough crowd, but each and every time I see our Prime Minister on television delivering a speech or answering a question, the first word that I think of is phoney. Disingenuous is next. The smirks wreak of some-one who sees himself as superior to whoever he is talking to and yet his constant stuttering when

pressed on something he hasn’t prepared him-self to answer make me think he really isn’t all that intelligent. It’s not a speech problem. I’ve seen him talk stutter free. Yet, Canadians love him and his party. Canadians feel having a popular profile and standing up for special interests are more important than things like the economy and fiscal management. To me, it seems like Canadians would love to have a Kardashian or a Jenner as Prime Minister. Trudeau is a lot closer to that than he is to what Jean Chrétien was when he was Liberal leader and the Prime Minister of Canada.

I wonder if the Trudeau family will ever sign up for a real-ity show on CBC, which seems to be his massive public relations/mar-keting engine anyway. I have to admit that while I find reality tv to be, incredibly, silly; I may actually tune in to The Trudeaus. I mean since Sophie is overwhelmed and needs more help, I’d like to see her sweating it out behind a computer answering the requests

she gets for appearances and still finding time to make breakfast for the three kids, hubby, and two nannies. I’m not a woman, so I’m not quali-fied to offer much of an opinion on this ridicu-lous request she has that she needs more staff; but I’m going to suggest that it’s impossible to please everyone. Learn to say ‘no’. Wayne Gretzky, surely, didn’t sign every single autograph request. He must’ve said ‘no’ at some point. People still love him. So, Sophie can say ‘no’ every once in a while and stay home and go through her Betty Crocker book and whip something up. This is not to say the woman doesn’t work hard. I have no idea whether she does or not, but the reality is that we all find balance between work and home. Men and women.

One argument Liberal people like to make with me is that they will start a sentence with, “Well Harper did this or Harper did that.” In the Sophie case, the common rebuttal is, “Well Mila Mulroney did it.” So, if Mila Mulroney did it does that make it right? If Stephen Harper did something really bad but Justin Trudeau does something that is bad, but not as bad as Harper, does that make it okay? Apparently, it does.

I have not really offered much of an opin-ion on Trudeau going to Fort McMurray to see the destructive forest fire. Many people have made this political. I choose not to, however, I think it’s appalling to see people posting on social media that the citizens of Fort McMurray some-how deserved this fire. The very people who tow the straightest pol-itically correct line are the first ones to jump off and say something that is, beyond, offensive and then tag it with, “I know this isn’t politically cor-rect, but...’

The biggest sports news from the weekend should have been the Toronto Raptors advan-cing to the NBA semi-finals, but it’s the punch Jose Bautista received from Roughned Odor of the Texas Rangers instead. To set it up, Bautista hits a clutch homer last Fall and does a bat flip (which in trad-itional baseball circles is a no no). The Rangers have long memories and during Bautista’s last at bat against Texas this season, a minor league reliever throws at him and hits him on the elbow pad. The next bat-ter grounds to third and a double play is attempted with Bautista sliding with intent to hurt Odor at second. Bautista jumps up and Odor decks him in the jaw. This isn’t about Odor being mad about the slide. This is about a man (Bautista) being hated by the other team to the point that if some-one had the slightest rea-son to pop him one, that’s what was going to hap-pen. There is plenty of blame here. While I don’t have a problem with the bat flip, Bautista has to know ball players have long memories. He had it coming. Whether it was his first at bat against Texas or his last one. It was coming. Once he was hit, I feel he should have taken the high road the rest of the way. The punch to the face was, simply, done because Odor doesn’t like him. The slide had nothing to do with it. You can’t just walk up to a guy you don’t like and smoke him one, but if he antagonizes you a little bit and you have a choice whether to stand there and argue or else throw a right hook, there’s a pretty good chance if I already har-bour some resentment to the person, I’m going to pop him.

Nice person mentions: Tyler Slowski, Lindsay Morrison, Erica Plaquin, Jillian Kriger, and Kelly Burback.

Provincial Parks opening long weekendS a s k a t c h e w a n

Provincial Parks will offi-cially open for the sea-son on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Visitation to prov-incial parks set a record in 2015, with nearly 3.9 million visits.

In 2015, the Government of Saskatchewanmet its commitment of investing an additional $10 million over four years into the provincial park system. The total investment in capital projects and cap-ital maintenance over the past four years is more than $53 million.

With more reserva-tions than ever booked during this year’s camp-site reservation launch, SaskParks is anticipating another successful sea-son.

“Saskatchewan’s prov-incial parks are where people go to make mem-ories, enjoy recrea-tional activities, and connect with nature,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Mark Docherty said. “With stunning nat-ural features, fantastic amenities and high-qual-ity programming, it’s no surprise that our parks

continue to grow in popu-larity.”

S a s k a t c h e w a n Provincial Parks official-ly open for the season on the May long week-end. As in past years, an alcohol ban will be in place from Thursday, May 19 to Monday, May 23 inclusive. This alco-hol ban affects all camp-grounds and picnic areas within provincial parks and recreation sites. The ban is also in effect for several regional parks. Cottages and commercial businesses in provincial parks are not affected by

the ban.The conditions are

very dry in much of the province. All visitors are reminded to keep fires small and attended to at all times. In some cases, fire restrictions may be in place, prohibiting open fires. Check www.sask-parks.net/FireBan2016 for a complete list of all fire restrictions.

As it is still early in the season, a number of parks may have reduced services. In some cases, parks may be under a precautionary drink-ing water advisory as

they prepare their water lines for the year. It is recommended that visitors check ahead for the services that will be available by going to www.saskparks.net/SpringCamping. A list-ing of available services is posted and will be updated regularly.

Some campers like to be able to plan their trips well in advance. This year, online reservations are available at some parks into the fall sea-son, past the Labour Day long weekend. Certain campgrounds at The

Battlefords, Blackstrap, Cypress Hills, Danielson, Douglas, Narrow Hills and Rowan’s Ravine are offering online reserva-tions into September and campsites are available to be booked now.

There are many activ-ities to experience in Saskatchewan Provincial Parks. From engaging interpretive activities to workshops facilitated by partner organizations, there is always some-thing new to discover.

In 2015, SaskParks launched a Learn to Camp program, aimed at teaching people who are new to nature how to camp. This program was very popular last year and will be offered again in 2016. In addition, a Learn to Fish program will launch this summer.

More information, including dates and loca-tions for Learn to Fish will be announced short-ly.
