B10 Wednesday, March 11, 2015 | www.YorktonThisWeek.com | Yorkton This Week 175 York Road W., Yorkton Phone 306-783-8516 MASSIVE CLEARANCE ON NOW AT KRASOWSKI – John Krasowski, beloved husband of Bev Krasowski of the Willowbrook district passed away on February 28, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of fifty- nine years. John was born in Yorkton on April 28, 1955, son of Borden and Eleanor Krasowski. He was the oldest of 11 children and spent the majority of his childhood on the family farm in Willowbrook. He met his wife, Beverly, and they were married on July 9, 1977. They started their life together in Yorkton, where they resided for a short period of time before moving out to an acreage near the family farm. It was here where they raised their three wonderful children: Christopher, Kyle and Jennifer. John discovered how rewarding an honest day’s work was while working with his father on the family farm and carried this work ethic forward with him throughout his years. He worked at Sasktel for 31 years before retiring from the company. He was never the type to stay idle for long though and soon started working for Magna Electric, locating underground cables, then began a management position with Medius Restoration in Yorkton. While he worked full time, he always had time to lend a hand at the family farm and especially loved harvest time. His greatest passion was curling. When he wasn’t curling himself, he could be found watching it on TV or watching/ coaching his wife and sons. He was their greatest fan, although he didn’t always agree with the shots they called, as evident by him shaking his head behind the glass. He was a very active member of the Willowbrook Curling Club and was involved in activities such as planning bonspiels and making and maintaining the ice. His influence on the sport didn’t end in Willowbrook though; he curled in hundreds of bonspiels around the province and his name was well recognized in the curling community. He also enjoyed camping at Good Spirit Lake, fishing, baseball, snowmobiling, ATVing, and anything to do with an engine. Amongst those who were closest to John, he was known as a devoted husband, father, son and friend. He would do anything in his power to ensure the happiness and safety of his loved ones. He was always willing to help out a friend in need and wouldn’t hesitate to offer or lend a hand. However, what the majority of us will remember most about John is that contagious laugh, warm smile and his love for life. May he rest well knowing that he lived a great life and had such a great influence on all of us. It is a shame that he was taken from us too soon; he will be missed very much. John leaves to cherish his memory, Beverly, his loving wife of 37 years; his son, Chris (Hong); his son, Kyle (Karla); his daughter, Jennifer (Tyler) and his grandson, Nate. He also leaves behind his parents, Borden & Eleanor; sisters, Brenda (Rick) Popoff, Arlene (Eugene) Osicki, Joanne (Nick) Smutt, Dianne (Brad) Schwitzer, Gwen (Garnet) Schick, Sandy (Vince) Somogyi, Debbie (Garth) Greiner; brothers, Greg (Karen) Krasowski, Terry (Marlene) Krasowski, Craig (Tracey) Krasowski; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Frank) Schmeltzer, Linda (Art) Zimmer, Gloria Lipinski; brother-in-Law, Adam (Joanne) Lipinski; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. A Prayer Vigil was held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Francis Hengen officiating. Bev’s co-worker, Rick Yaholnitsky served as a Lector. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2015 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. Nephew and godchild, Mark Schmeltzer served as the cross bearer. John’s cousin, Marilyn Beres and brother-in-law, Vincent Somogyi served as the Lectors. Prayers of the Faithful were read by John’s sister, Gwen Schick. Niece and nephew Robin and Kelly Somogyi were the gift bearers. Casket Bearers were John’s brother-in-law, Adam Lipinski with John’s friends and curling teammates: George Mehling, Ron Mehling, Ron Popowich, Terry Hutzul & Kelly Fiege. When chemo became too damaging & other treatments didn’t help, she had the courage to agree to a bone marrow transplant (May 2014 in Ottawa), which later enabled her to go through radiation & beat lymphoma a second time as of October 2014. Her inner strength came from her families’ & Vance’s love & her faith in God. While still recovering from many treatment related side effects (including nerve pain, colitis & blood clots), she had a few falls and cracked her pelvis in several places. Then on December 26, 2014 she had multiple mild strokes (TIA’s). The combination of these 2 events made her bedridden & hospitalized for the last 2-1/2 months of her life. PENNER - Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Bruce Wayne Penner was born on March 8, 1939 at Steinbach, MB. He peacefully departed this life on the evening of March 1, 2015 with his loving wife and sons by his side. Bruce was the oldest son of George D. And Catherine Penner. He grew up on the family farm with one sister and five brothers. On November 8, 1953, he was baptized, and became a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, faithfully serving the Lord until the end. Beginning in 1957, winter employment took him to lumber camps in southeast Manitoba and road construction jobs in the summer. On August 4, 1961, he married, Verna Barkman. They shared the joys of marriage for 53 Ω years. Their first home was at a road construction site at Carmen, MB. Winter at the bush camp was spent in an 8’ x 12’ shack where the stars twinkled through the cracks in the roof. Bruce thought that if he never tried carpentry, he couldn’t honestly say that he didn’t enjoy it, so he spent one summer in the trade. He quickly realized that he needed a different occupation, so he took on the challenge of building and managing the Lady Slipper Ranch at Giroux, Manitoba for three years. In the spring of 1968, a farm near Saltcoats, SK, became their new home, where they raised their five sons and two daughters. They farmed in a close-knit community where neighbour helped neighbour, with no thought of reward or payment. Victor and Mayda Morales, together with their boys joined the family in 1988 after leaving Guatemala for a life in Saskatchewan. Helping Victor’s family and many other Spanish speaking friends brought much satisfaction to Bruce’s life as he reached out to those who were new to Canada. He enjoyed being in touch with old acquaintances, local people and keeping current on world events. Bruce’s heart was a house of open doors and he will long be remembered for the friendship, respect and love shown to everyone he met. He took an interest in greeting people in their native tongue and these languages included Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Creole, Ukranian, Spanish and German. Bruce’s faith in God meant very much to him and his family will always hold close to their hearts, the precious memory of him sitting in his chair and reading his Bible. While their hearts ache with grief because he has left them, they rejoice that his pain and suffering is over. Those left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife, Verna; children, Joel & Bonnie, Saltcoats, SK, Ross & Myra, New Norway, AB, Evan & Janelle, Bredenbury, SK, Rona & Brent Isaac, Carrot River, SK, Kent & Krista, Yorkton, SK, Heather & Les Isaac, New Norway, AB, Peter & Marcia, Saltcoats, SK and his grandchildren, Clark & Allison, Rhaea, Alicia, Abby, Kristi & Terril, Trevor, Benji, Ricki, Austin, Jordan, Brittany, Casper, Tasha, Keri Ann, Maykala, Tia, Boe, Nicolee, Kia, Tyanne and Marijke; his mother, Catherine; his siblings, Darlene & Norman Wohlgemuth, Bredenbury, SK, Earl & Daphne, Josephine, Roy & Diane, all of Steinbach, MB, Lawrence & Bonny, Pine River, MB; his in-laws, Doreen & Fred Reimer, Carrot River, SK, Viola Spensley, Edmonton, AB, Norma Toews, Steinbach, MB, Melvin & Gwen Barkman, St. Mary’s , ON, Yvonne Barkman, Abbotsford, BC, Wilbert Barkman, Ohaton, AB, Audrey & Ed Enns, Vanderhoof, BC, Mabel Penner, Saltcoats, SK as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Bruce was predeceased by his father, George; one granddaughter, Victoria Kate; two brothers, George and Ralph; brothers-in-law, Raymond Barkman, Dick Spensley and Donald Toews. A Service of Comfort for Family and Friends was held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Saltcoats, SK. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Saltcoats, SK with Laurel Wiebe officiating. Music played a large part in the service and the choir shared a number of selections. Bruce’s son, Peter led the congregation in the singing of “He Hideth my Soul” and Dennis Warkentin led the singing of “Nothing But the Blood of Jesus”. The obituary was read by Bruce’s son, Ross and the Message was shared by Marshall Toews. The closing prayer was led by Vern Loewen. The Interment Service followed in the adjoining cemetery with Ricki Penner, Casper Isaac, Austin Penner, Clark Penner, Bruce Morales, Josh Morales and Joel Morales serving as the casket bearers. Words of comfort and prayer were shared by Dennis Barkman and all present sang, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

BAZOWSKI - Agnes (Aggie) Bazowski was born on November 26, 1936 in the summer kitchen of her Grandma’s house on a farm near Runnymede, SK. She was the fourth of Nick and Mary Trach’s five daughters. She attended Memorial School in Runnymede and received her Grade 12 diploma from Kamsack Collegiate Institute. Upon completion of the Saskatoon Business College Secretarial Course, Agnes worked as a stenographer for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Saskatoon for five years. The engagement between Agnes and Ed Bazowski, the man who filled her graduation dance card, took place on December 30, 1956 - a date they commemorated yearly. They were married in Kamsack on October 13, 1958. From that time forward the thirteenth of each month became celebratory. They resided in Saskatoon and Kamsack before making Churchbridge their home in 1962. Agnes moved

into the Langenburg Centennial Care Home in 2005. Agnes was an avid birdwatcher. Many were called upon to “top off” the bird feeders when visiting. Plants flourished under Agnes’ green thumb, as did the many friendships she developed over the years. The great diversity of music that Agnes enjoyed was comparable only to the volume at which she listened to it. Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Mary Trach; her husband, Edward; her sister, Anne; her brothers-in-law, Wayne Bartusek and Ray Bauml. She will be remembered by her daughters, Shannon (Al) and Marina (Terry); her sisters, Jeanne, Victoria and Lucille (Lloyd); her grandchildren, Rory Katchur, Kyla (Jonny) Toupich, Maks Katchur and Claire Wensley; her great-grandson, Edward James Katchur as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In accordance with the wishes of both Agnes and Edward, no funeral service will be held at this time. They will be interred together at a later date. As tokens of remembrance, those so wishing may make memorial donations to the Langenburg Centennial Care Home, specifically for the “Activity Department”.

PLAN NUMBER 2-2-721

CRAFTSMAN STYLE HOME

One of the many thoughtful touches in this Craftsman-style home, with two bedrooms plus a den, is a three-way fire-place that will cast its rosy glow into the great room, the dining area and the kitchen.

Entry is through the ground floor into a roomy foyer. Space for a home office is to the right. Up a flight of stairs is the

main-floor great room, which features sliding glass doors to a large L-shaped sundeck.

The kitchen’s conve-nient U-shaped counter configuration and large walk-in pantry will make for a contented cook. The kitchen boasts a bay win-dow and an extra-wide sill over the sink, the per-fect spot for a plant col-lection. The dining area’s window, which overlooks the front garden, also has an extra-wide sill.

A roomy walk-in clos-

et and access to the sun-deck make the master suite inviting. In the gen-erous en-suite, a soaker tub with a tiled surround is placed at an angle both to save space and allow natural light to flood in through windows on two sides.

The den overlooks the back garden and enjoys access to a patio. Adjacent to it is the full bathroom that serves the second bedroom. The laundry room is conve-niently located across

the corridor from the sec-ond bedroom.

The double garage has access to the ground-floor foyer, as well as to the side garden. There is enough space for a com-pact work bench.

The plans include an unfinished basement with space for two more bedrooms, as well as a home office.

The attractive exte-rior is finished with board-and-batten siding, painted trim and spindle railings, as well as river-rock accents.

This home measures 46 feet wide and 49 feet deep, for a total of 1,539 square feet of living space.

Plans for design 2-2-721 are available for $725 (set of 5), $820(set of 8) and $896 for a super set of 10. Also add $35.00 for Priority charges within B.C. or $60.00 outside of B.C. Please add 12% H.S.T., 13% H.S.T. Or 5% G.S.T (where applicable) to both the plan price and Priority charges.

Our NEW 47TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is avail-able for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and han-dling). Make all cheque and money orders pay-able to “Jenish House Design” and mail to:

On March 3, at approximately 8 p.m. members of the Canora Fire Department and Canora RCMP were called to a structure fire at a residence off Highway 5 in Mikado. The house was fully engulfed in flames. A lone male occupant of the

house was able to escape the house with his three dogs before the house was completely destroyed. A fourth dog was located on the property hiding, and reunited with his owner. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but not suspicious.

March runoff forecastToday, the Water

Security Agency released the March Spring Runoff Forecast. The central part of the grain belt is expected to be in the above normal range and could see some flows exceed the natural chan-nel capacity in certain areas but should not cause significant issues. The rest of the province is looking at a normal to below normal spring run-off.

“We’ve had more snow than we would have liked

in February and some of the surveys are show-ing more water in the snow which is impacting the forecast,” Minister responsible for the Water Security Agency Scott Moe said. “So far, the conditions seem to be fairly positive and the Water Security Agency will continue to monitor this closely as the tem-peratures rise and the snow begins to melt.”

The central part of the grain belt was upgraded to the above

normal range due to the above normal snowfall in February which added to an already wet land-scape. An above normal water equivalent within the snowpack was veri-fied during snow sur-veys conducted by the Water Security Agency across the southern half of Saskatchewan in late February.

In the southwestern corner of the province, below normal snowfall and several melt events have resulted in the fore-cast being downgraded from near normal to below normal. Spring runoff potential north of Buffalo Narrows, La Ronge, and Creighton continues to be below normal.

Terminal lakes and

wetlands that have no natural outlet to drain will continue to remain high for the foreseeable future and with a nor-mal spring runoff could see some flooding issues. Many of these areas remain at higher than normal levels following several years of high run-off with little to no net evaporation.

The Water Security Agency will continue to monitor the 2015 spring runoff conditions across Saskatchewan and may complete further target-ed snow surveys to ver-ify snow accumulation. If the spring runoff has not started by April the Water Security Agency will release another fore-cast to update the situa-tion.

Shippers can continue to haul heavier loads on secondary roads due to recent frigid temperatures. Winter weights remain in effect throughout the prov-ince, with the exception of some specific roads in the southwest.

“Roadbeds remain frozen in most of the prov-ince meaning trucks can continue to haul primary weight and realize the savings that come with fewer trips,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister Nancy Heppner said. “Field staff will monitor road condi-tions to ensure shippers can maximize the amount of goods they can move as long as possible without risk-ing damage to the roads.”

Winter weights will be removed from specific high-ways at 12:01 a.m. March 1 in the southwest and will gradually be removed from the rest of the province as temperatures rise. Shippers should also be aware of spring road bans during the six-week thaw period, when roads are most vulnerable to damage.

Weight restriction orders around winter weights are published online at www.highways.gov.sk.ca/restrictions/ under the “New Winter Order” link. Regularly scheduled updates of the winter restriction orders will be provided every Tuesday and Friday by 12:30 p.m. until March 15 when winter weights are removed from the entire province.

Truckers can also find restriction orders on the Highway Hotline at http://hotline.gov.sk.ca/restric-tions/ or by calling 1-888-335-7623. Technical and regu-latory information is also available from Commercial Vehicle Enforcement at 1-866-933-5290, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except statutory holidays.
