BLACK - Murray Black, beloved husband of Verla of Yorkton died January 18, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre surrounded by his family. Murray was born in Deloraine, MB on March 25, 1929 the third child and only son of Harold and Annie (Longman) Black. He attended Coxworth School and took his high school at a boarding school in Teulon, MB. After graduation he held various jobs - school teacher, brakeman on the CPR and several others - all the while helping his father on the farm. As a young man he studied the electrical code and wired the farm. As rural electrification spread in southern Manitoba he worked for an electrical contractor bringing lights and power to farms. This was the start of his career as an electrician. In 1953 he met and married Verla Ames of Elgin, MB. For several years they farmed in the summer and lived in Brandon in the winter where Murray worked for an electrical contractor and

earned his Journeyman Status. Their son Grant was born in Deloraine in 1957. In 1958 Murray started working for Saskatchewan Power at Boundary Dam. The farm was sold, the young family moved to Estevan and then on to Regina and finally Yorkton, which has been home since 1962. They adopted their daughter Lana in 1964 and the family was complete. Murray had a curious mind and loved to travel and explore. Verla and Murray took many trips and bus tours travelling to Germany to visit their daughter when she lived there, Ireland, Mexico, Hawaii, Texas, Alaska and The Maritimes. The most memorable trip was a two-week cruise with family through the Panama Canal to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed many summers at their cabin at Clear Lake visiting with friends, attending dances at the barn at Onanole, hiking and entertaining family. Murray was an everyman. He had a great sense of humour, loved following the news, skewering politicians and debating their policies. He enjoyed fishing and boating, gardening, long games of Queens, cross-country and downhill skiing, golf, watching hockey, curling and football games and coffee with the SPC superannuates and friends. He was a hard-working and dedicated employee and was a handyman who could repair almost anything. He often helped friends and neighbours pour concrete, wire lights or build a fence. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Verla, son Grant (Lee Ann), daughter Lana (Shane) sisters Joyce Coxworth and Barb (Bill) Paley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nola and Larry Meggison, sister-in-law Geraldine Ames, cousin Joan Hull of Northern Ireland and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Westview United Church, Yorkton with Rev. Jen Dresser officiating. Murray’s son Grant gave the eulogy. Organist, Laurene Jemieff led members of the church choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns: ‘In the Quiet Curve of Evening’, ‘In the Garden’, ‘Jesus, You Have Come to the Lakeshore’, and ‘We Shall Go Out With Hope of Resurrection’. The interment took place at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens, Memories Columbarium. Condolences can be left at baileysfuneralhome.com.

PLAN NUMBER 2-2-753A STRATEGY FOR

FAMILY GROWTHThe plans for this

attractive two-bedroom home include a strat-egy for family growth – a future den or third bed-room on the ground floor, together with a future rec-room with a wet bar.

At ground level, the covered entry – always a boon in bad weather – leads through a door with a window and side-lights into a foyer with a handy bench and coat closet to the right. To the left is the U-shaped stairway to the second or main floor.

The double garage is large enough to accom-

modate a work bench, and enjoys access to the foyer.

On the upper floor, the great room is front and centre, overlooking the front garden, with a gas fireplace. Adjacent is the dining room, which boasts on optional built-in buffet that will pro-vide serving and storage space.

At the back of the home is the kitchen, with an efficient U-shaped counter configuration and a doorway to a cov-ered patio that overlooks the back garden. The kitchen is separated from the dining room by a low counter, so the cook will

never feel isolated. A pantry will provide extra room for cans and jars.

The laundry room includes a broom closet, as well as a side-by-side washer and dryer.

The master suite, at the front of the home, enjoys a large window overlooking the front gar-den, as well as smaller, higher windows along the side. The en-suite includes double basins and a soaker tub, as well as a shower stall. The walk-in closet is roomy enough to accommodate clothing and accessories.

The second bedroom looks out to the back gar-den and is near the sec-

ond bathroom. The linen closet is close by.

On the ground floor, the future third bedroom has windows that look out to the side garden, as well as access to the foyer and the future rec-room and a roughed-in three-piece bathroom.

Exterior finishes include wooden shingles, brick accents, a front door with side-lights, painted woodwork and a decorative garage door.

This home measures 40 feet wide and 40 feet deep, for a total of 1,260 square feet of space on the main, or second, floor. Ceilings rise to nine feet throughout the second floor.

Plans for design 2-2-753 are available for $625 (set of 5), $710(set of 8) and $778 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges.

Our NEW 47TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is avail-able for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and han-dling). Make all cheque and money orders pay-able to “JENISH HOUSE DESIGN LTD” and mail to:
