As a young man growing up Bob was an avid curler, played a little softball, threw the odd horseshoe and of course, played lead guitar in a number of local bands. Bob married Alice Miller of the Lemberg area in June of 1981. They lived a happy life together for 28 years till Alice’s passing in July of 2009. Bob lived most of his adult years on his “home quarter” located exactly halfway between Melville & Yorkton on Saskatchewan Highway #10. Bob and Alice moved into Yorkton around the year 2000. In 2013 Bob was in need of more continual care and became a full time resident of the Theodore & District Nursing Home in September 2013 and then on to Melody Manor in the Yorkton & District Nursing Home in November 2013. Besides his wife Alice, Bob was predeceased by his parents John (1978) & Victoria (1993), brother Elmer (2000), brother Albert (2005), nephew Gerald Wassill (1977), brother-in-law Edward Wozniak (2000), sister-in-law Helen Wassill (2010) and numerous relatives and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Cec Wozniak of Melville, Dorothy (Joe) Fulop of Calgary along with his brothers Dr. Dan Wassill (Vera) of Yorkton and Clarence Wassill of Maple Ridge, BC. Also numerous nieces, nephews and friends located throughout the world. RIP Uncle Bob! A Prayer Vigil was held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Chapel of Bailey’s Funeral Home in Melville with Lay Presiders, Rosalie Woloschuk and Laverne Chapiel leading in prayer. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church in Melville with Rev. Fr. Mieczyslaw Burdzy, OMI as the Celebrant. Len Varga led in the music and the singing of the hymns, “Here I Am Lord”, “Be Not Afraid”, “On Eagles Wings” and “Peace is Flowing Like a River”. The readers were Toni Wassell and Sharon Woloschuk. Serving as Eucharistic Minister was Rosalie Woloschuk. Reflections of Bob’s life were shared by Len Wassill. The interment followed in St. Henry’s Parish Cemetery with Bob’s nieces and nephews serving as cross and casket bearers. Memorials honouring Bob’s life may be made to the MS Society or St. Henry’s Parish Cemetery Fund. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com.

VARGA - Katherine Varga, “Katie” as she was known to family and friends, was born on May 22, 1922 on her parents’ farm, near Grayson, SK. Katherine was the ninth child of 13, born to Michael and Clara (nee Zimmer) Huber. Katie attended school in Grayson and Bangor. She completed Grade 5, then was needed at home to work on the family farm. As a young girl, she worked, away from home, on various farms in the area. On October 21, 1941, she married Joseph Varga in Yorkton at St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church. They lived on the farm in the R.M. of Saltcoats (Llewelyn District) and together they raised eight children. Following Joseph’s death on November 23, 1984, Katie decided to move to Bredenbury. Katie belonged to the Community Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, playing cards with family, curling, playing bingo, gardening, fishing and camping. A great cook, all who knew Katie knew the

pleasure of a meal in her home and she was able to prepare that meal, with very few modern conveniences. In recent years, Katie had a very faithful caregiver in her son, Harvey, who was also her fishing and camping buddy. All of Katie’s children have an immense amount of gratitude for the kindness, care and compassion that Harvey showed their mother. Katherine leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Martha (John), Josie (Keith), Francis (Andy), Ray (Anita), Shirley (Bob), Mavis (Randy) and Harvey (Joyce); 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha, Caroline and Annie; one brother, Benny as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Clara; her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Joyce; her sons-in-law, Bill, Gary and Eugene; her great-grandson, Matthew as well as five sisters, three brothers, one sister-in-law and four brothers-in-law. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from the Chapel of Christie’s Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Father Francis Hengen officiating. The eulogy was given by Sheila Bear, the readers were Cathy Barteski and Nicole Barteski and the Cross Bearer was Shani Bear. The pianist, Chris Fisher, led the congregation and members of St. Gerard’s Parish Choir in the singing of the hymns, “Morning Has Broken”, “Psalm 23”, “Song of the Angels” and “Amazing Grace”. Following a luncheon in the Gunn Reception Room at Christie’s Funeral Home, the Interment Service took place in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bangor, SK with Curtis Barteski, Kelvin Hawreluik, Clayton Hawreluik, Kelly Hawreluik, Joe Lister and Rob Lister serving as the casket bearers. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

D I S T I N C T I V E MULTI-GABLED ROOF-LINE

This charming two-storey, four-bedroom home with its multi-gabled roof-line features a distinctive cut-stone archway that marks the front entrance. The design includes an unfin-ished bonus room over the double garage, as well as an optional unfin-ished basement.

A veranda extends across the front of the home, attached to a cov-ered porch that shelters the front entry. Inside, a roomy foyer includes a coat closet. The great room is directly ahead, and includes a gas fire-place flanked by shelv-ing and a view out to the terrace overlooking the back garden.

The dining room’s french doors open onto the covered portion of the back terrace, perfect for grilling in all kinds of weather. Part of the ceiling in the great room and dining area is dou-ble-height, lending the rooms an airy aspect.

The roomy kitchen features a U-shaped counter configuration that surrounds a work island. Tucked in beside the generous pantry is a handy telephone desk. A

window over the double sink looks out to the back garden.

To the immediate right of the foyer is the U-shaped stairway to the second floor. Nearby is a den, along with the laun-dry room and a two-piece powder room.

To the left of the foyer, the master suite occu-pies a bayed-out area. French doors from the bedroom offer access to a covered portion of the back terrace. The ensuite is reached via a large walk-in closet and includes double basins and a soaker tub, as well as a glassed-in shower stall.

All ceilings on the main floor measure nine feet high, except as noted in the great room and dining area.

Upstairs, the second and third bedrooms look out to the back garden, with the fourth bedroom looking out to the front. All the secondary bed-rooms share a bathroom with two basins, lit by a skylight.

A study area on the landing has room for a desk, and an unfinished storage area will pro-vide extra space. Near the entrance to the bonus room are cupboards for linen and cleaning tools.

Exterior finishes include horizontal siding

with board-and-batten accents in the gables, as well as decorative stone-work and painted trim.

This home measures 67 feet, six inches wide and 65 feet deep, for a total of 3,093 square feet.

Plans for design 7-4-1001 are available for $995 (set of 5), $1115(set of 8) and $1211 for a super set of 10. B.C. resi-dents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 out-side of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges.
