President's Message - Let's Have FUN!!!By Anna Wu"

Last weekend was Key Club Fall Rally, next weekend is KIWIN'S Fall Rally. Now if you are new to Kiwanis, you might be asking "What are all these Fall Rallies?" Fall Rally is an event once a year near the beginning of the school year for all the Key Clubs/ KIWIN'S in the District (CA, NV, HA) to get together and show their club spirit by doing cheers and dressing up in division colors and mascots. Key Club fall rally is always held at Six Flag and KIWIN'S at Knott's Berry Farm. These events are designed to be used as a

recruiting tool for new members, which also gives them a glimpse of the whole district. Any Kiwanian who has attended one of these fall rallies can tell you, it's very impressive the amount of enthusiasm, spirit, and dedication these high school students exhibit. Key Club's fall rally last weekend had about 10,000 students in attendance! Wow!! 10,000 excited, colorfully dressed, cheering students. The Kiwanis family is all about community services and these kids never forget that. At these fall rallies students raise money for Pediatric Trauma Program. We as adults should learn from these students! Let's get excited about community service! Excited about our events! Let's have fun! Laugh! "

This Thursday, our club is having a Family Feud game show with West Covina Kiwanis. I personally love trivia and games, but that might not be what excites you, so tell me what you think could be fun! Madame President Anna Wu banged that bell right at 7:00 AM to start our "Veterans Day Tribute" meeting. Charlie Huff led the Pledge of Allegiance. Dave Wallach led us in our patriotic song, "The Star Spangled Banner" was his choice, and very fitting for Veterans Day. Mahmood Bashir provided the invocation. Lon Salgren sold the split-the-pot tickets, David Malkin collected the food for Delhaven and performed the pin & badge check, and Grace Chan passed the cans. Joining us as our guests for the morning was Reba Davis, our guest speaker for the morning, and Charlie Huff introduced her. There were no birthdays or anniversaries, so that limited serenading to the Welcome Song for our guest. Madame President offered a quick week in review. Our club members were active last week and represented the club at an inter-club with Duarte, attended Jovenes Homeless Fundraiser, showed up for our monthly Adopt-A-Highway, helped out at Delhaven Work Days (Saturday and Sunday), attended Duarte Club's Magic Show, and Charter Celebration for Arcadia Young Professional, which was actually a inter-club. next week is another busy week for our club, all are encouraged to look at our schedule and join us at as many events as they are able to. After making her presentation on the topic of "Identity Theft and How to Protect Oneself" our guest Reba Davis pulled the winning ticket for our "split the pot" and taking home a whopping $80.00 Kiwanis Dollars ($8.00 actual) was Dave Wallach. We did not have a Mr./

Ms. K for the morning, and Mahmood Bashir had the secret number for our "Website Challenge", and received a candy for being diligent to visit the site and keeping up with our upcoming events. With the banging of the bell a second time this morning Madame President Anna Wu ended right at 8:10 AM and all present joined in the rendition of Hail To Kiwanis. Members in attendance were Anna Wu, Mahmood Bashir, David Malkin, Dave Wallach,Lon Salgren, Charlie Huff, Izzeldin Osman, and Grace Chan."

!!!November 11th, 2015"By Mahmood Bashir"!On Veteran's Day, Wednesday November 11, our club members, Anna Wu, Nancy Bashir, Izzeldin Osman, and Elaine Chieng joined recently chartered Kiwanis Club of La Puente for an inter-club. This was the second meeting of the year for the La Puente club, and they were very appreciative of our support as their co-sponsoring Kiwanis Club. President Tim Seal did a great job presiding over the meeting and paying tribute to our veterans. The club is off to a great start as their members attended almost 25 different events in the city of La Puente, and accumulated almost 350+ service hours. The club is a 3-2-1 club, and the meeting was well spent planning the events for the upcoming month. All our club members are encouraged to join them for their future service projects, socials, fundraisers, and meetings to help them grow and keep laying a strong foundation."!!

For the fourth year, the West Covina Kiwanis Club has supported the Covina Rotary’s Field of Valor held during Veteran’s Day Week in November. The Field of Valor has 2001 flags flying in the athletic field of Sierra Vista Middle School representing our men and women who have served, are serving and those that have given their lives for our country. During this week, there are ceremonies celebrating the opening of the field, Veteran’s Day, Community Day and Closing Ceremonies. During the week, buses of school children are brought in and given a lesson in our history, the American Flag and Patriotism. These kids get to meet Veterans who tell their story and are able to ask them questions about their experiences. They then get to go out into the Field of Valor and see the names of the Medal of Honor Awardees including Covina’s own, Donald Evans who was killed in Viet Nam saving his fellow soldiers while he himself was being hit over and over before succumbing to his wounds. Helping. At the Community Lunch we had representatives from Covina-South Hills, Hacienda Heights and Glendora there supporting the cause. Covina South Hills and Hacienda Heights also had members there helping at the Field of Valor.

THE KIWANISCOPEGoldstone Division - PTP Week, October 19-23, 2015"By: Fiora Chan"The main goal this week was to raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP). During lunch, we had a table outside to inform people what the Pediatric Trauma Program was all about and what they could do to help. If they donated a dollar, they could get a cookie. We also had cutouts and posters to attract more attention so that people were more interested to learn about the Pediatric Trauma Program. We had a table out during lunch every day except for Wednesday, which was our club meeting day. During the club meeting, we talked about future events and reminded members how they could help during PTP week. We also worked on a small service project. We put puffy paint on socks and donated the socks to the local hospital. The puffy paint on the socks would help the children not slip and fall. This would thus prevent them from pediatric trauma. Overall, it was a pretty successful week!

By Anna Wu"Thursday, November 12th, was Division 35's first DCM of the year. The brand new club of Arcadia Young Professionals offered to host the DCM. The room was filled with fall and Thanksgiving decorations to get everyone in the mood for the upcoming session. This was Lt. Governor Rona Lunde's first DCM as LTG! Everyone was really excited and enjoyed the DCM. In attendance from Hacienda Heights was Anna Wu, Dave Wallach, David Malkin, Mahmood Bashir, Nancy Bashir, Charlie Huff, and Lon Salgren.
