ening heart condition, but defied all the oddsand yesterday attended her first day inGrade 3.
Zandrea Zakiya Osborne was born with acleft lip, she had a feeding disorder, a growthproblem, failure to thrive, a reflux problem
whichmade her often get pneumonia and alsounderwent multiple operations.“She was not supposed to live. She has suf-
fered many ailments and challenges throughthe years, but we never gave up as we knewGodwaswithus - nomatterwhat,” saidAnnu-ly Osborne, Zandrea’s mother.“Some of the operations she underwent in-
clude two cardiac operations, a cleft lip re-pair, a gastrostomy operation (putting a feed-ing tubedirectly intoher tummy) andher ade-noids and tonsils were removed.
“Apart from the illnesses Zandrea is abeautiful, happy little girl who allows noth-ing to get her down.“She is my inspiration and has taught me

was a major success.
“Although the target of 150 pints was notachieved the support by the public contribut-ed to specific and life saving facts.“Out of the total of 127 donors there was on-
ly a 14% deferral rate which is less than the
branch average of 17%,” saidMarykeHarrisof the SouthAfricanNational Blood Service.Other contributing factors were that first
time donors were 24% of which Nico Eyreof Klinicare Pharmacywas one of those whomade a difference. Re-joined donors were29% who had not donated in the last 12months. The fully equippedPhelophepaHealthTrain,an initiative of theTransnetFoundation,willbe stationed at the Swartkops Station from26 January until 6 February to providehealthcare services to impoverished resi-dents from Nelson Mandela Bay.
The Phelophepa Health Train - the world’sfirst primary healthcare hospital on wheels- uses the existing rail network tomakequali-ty medical care an accessible reality formany of South Africa’s most remote commu-nities.The first Phelophepa coach – recipient of
the United Nations Public Service Award inthe “Improving Service Delivery” categoryin June 2008 – made its way to awaiting pa-tients in rural SouthAfrica in 1994 as a three-carriage eye clinic. The project developed to
two custom-built eighteen-carriage trainsequipped with modern medical equipment.Known as the miracle train, Phelophepa
provides vision screening programmes,health, oral, dental care, screening for diabe-tes and cancer, psychological counsellingservices, basic health education awarenessand community counselling workshopswhich, amongst others, areprovidedonadai-ly basis.Since the Phelophepa Train can be in an
area for only a limited period, teams are sentout in the community to market the facilityprior to entering an area with the intentionto complement and support existing facili-ties.
)The public is advised that services willbe provided between 07:00 and 16:00 fromMonday to Thursday, and from 07:30 to 12:00on a Friday. The train is not open duringweekends.

One of the innovative technologies thatAmarok introduced into the local bakkie seg-mentwas the 8-speedautomatic transmissionin January 2013. Until now, this popular de-rivativewas available onlywith a permanentfour-wheel drive system.Customers cannoworder theAmarokDou-
ble Cab Automatic with a rear-wheel drivesystem. The 4x2 derivative has a combinedfuel consumption of 8.2 litres per 100 km and
CO2 emissions of 216 g/km.The additional gears make it possible to
achieve awider gear ratio spread between the1st and 8th gears compared to a conventionalautomatic transmission. As a result, the132kW 2.0 litre BiTDI engine works more fre-quently in its optimal torque band. The 8thgear has been configured as a fuel savingoverdrive gear that operates at reduced en-gine speed.The 2.0 litre BiTDI has a maximum torque
of 420 Newton metres that is available at1 750rpm.The top speed of 180 km/h is reached in 7th
gear. It takes only 10.6 seconds to acceleratefrom 0 to 100 km/h.

Mguca will be leaving for New Zealandthis week on a scholarship, provided by theSA Rugby EP Kings Academy and fundedthrough the generous sponsorship of BLGLogistics, along with support from the EPRugby Union.On his arrival in New Zealand, Mguca
will complete four of his matric subjects,while taking part in an extensive rugby pro-gramme offered through the school.
Hewill then return next year, where hewillcomplete his matric in line with the KingsAcademy Programme.Burnside High School is the largest second-
ary school in theSouth IslandofNewZealand.It is a co-ed school with an established reputa-tion for academic excellence, with 2 600 regis-tered students including internationalstudents from more than 45 different coun-tries.“This is an amazing opportunity for a local

training and weights is basically the same asfor a professional player,” he said.Kempson said Mguca would be able to stay

think it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity fora very talented young man,” said Kempson.
