Leisure Programs and Camps Starting early July, from preschoolers to those over 55, choices abound. Joining such programs as Broadway Babies, Intro to Violin and Guitar for Children, Teen Spirit BootCamp, Yoga for the Expectant Mother, Watercolors, Private Personal Fitness Training or the Adult & 55+ Cycling Club can keep you or your loved ones smiling this summer. Our sports programs keep youth and adults active this summer. Enjoy Basketball, Flag Football, Golf, Tri-sport and ultimate Frisbee. Adults can also try sailing lessons. With starting dates both in July and August, you can work these activities around your holidays. This year, Barrie has an incredible variety of Summer Camps for all activity levels. Families can continue to expect annual favorites such as Earth Challenge, Kinder Fun and Super Sports Challenge, but new camps have also been introduced including Kinder 1/Imagination, Camp Sense, Leadership Trek, Cheerleading, and Lacrosse. Of course specialty camps are also offered including The Director’s Cut, Bike Camp, School of Rock, 2 week Sailing School or Triathlon Camp. Waterfront and Downtown 34th Annual Promenade Days and Canada Day Celebrations: Enjoy Downtown Barrie’s longest standing Canada Day family weekend. This year, the event is schedule for 4 days starting Thursday July 1st to Sunday July 4th. The Street Market, stage & street interactive fun, restaurant street patios, and Family and Kid’s Zone are waiting. Lawn Chair Luminata: Every third Wednesday evenings throughout the summer, a collaboration of theatre, music, film and art is set outdoors in Heritage Park for all to enjoy. One of North America’s largest outdoor arts and crafts festivals stretches along the lake front from the marina to the South Shore Centre and features over 375 Art and Craft exhibitors, 40 Antique Dealers, a new main entertainment stage, a kids area, a Midway Theme Park, lots of food and refreshing drinks, and shuttle services. NOTICE OF TAX BILLING AND INSTALLMENT DUE DATE

The 2010 final tax bills have been issued for all property owners in the City of Barrie. These bills were mailed between May 27th and June 7th.

IF:• a mortgage company is responsible for payment of the taxes, and you have received a bill, please be advised that this is for “ Your information only” and no payment is required;

• a tax arrears notation appears on your tax bill it means that at the time of tax billing there were outstanding taxes and/or penalty owing. Please contact our office for the current balance outstanding;

• you signed up for the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan prior to May 15, 2010 and your tax bill does not reflect this, please contact the Tax Department to confirm enrolment in the PAP plan.

Final installments are due on June 28 and September 27, 2010. Penalties/interest will commence on the first day of each month for any late payments. Penalty/Interest rates are at the rate of 1.25% per month. Please be advised that all payments received are applied first to all penalties owing, then the remainder to the taxes owing.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse the property owner from responsibility for payment, nor relieve him/her from liability of penalty for late payment.
