For Barrie’s 2010 Choralfest, the Huronia Symphony Orchestra will accompany over 130 voices of the Lyrica Choir, Bravado! Show Choir, the King Edward Choir, and some of the best vocal talent from Barrie High Schools. Each choir will bring their own unique style, from Lyrica’s excellence in choral chamber music, Bravado’s energetic choral-fusion and choreography to the King Edward Choir’s long-standing experience and cultivated talent. Choralfest will highlight some of the best known and loved music in the classical choral tradition, giving you a selection from 19th century opera to 20th century musicals (West Side Story), including Verdi, Rossini, Bernstein, Puccini, and Borodin. Escape On A Musical Adventure With Barrie Choralfest T he City of Barrie wants to ensure that all residents have the ability to cast their vote and Be Counted in the 2010 Municipal Election and has made every effort to ensure that this is fulfilled. Recognizing this, all of Barrie’s voting locations have been selected to provide accessibility for those who require varying support. Each location features voting machines that are accessible from a wheelchair offering touch screen ballots with larger text size for electors who are partially sighted. Audio ballots are also available in combination with the Braille-embossed navigation buttons, to support voting in complete privacy for visually impaired voters. For further assistance, all Election Staff have received customer service training in accordance with the City of Barrie’s Accessible Customer Service Policy to provide a positive and inclusive voting experience and will be able to provide you with the support required. The provision of accessible elections for all electors is one of the key principles associated with municipal elections. The 2010 Municipal Election Accessibility Plan was developed in consultation with Barrie’s Accessibility Advisory Committee as part of the City’s commitment to the needs of persons with disabilities to identify and eliminate barriers to create a positive voting experience. This November, journey through time and exotic places without leaving Barrie. Let the best voices of the region take you from your seats and carry you through medieval times in Europe all the way to the 1950’s streets of New York City.

November 7th, the City of Barrie proudly launches its first annual Choralfest at 3:30 p.m. at the W.A.Fisher Auditorium in Barrie Central Collegiate, 125 Dunlop Street West. For Barrie’s 2010 Choralfest, the Huronia Symphony Orchestra will accompany over 130 voices of the Lyrica Choir, Bravado! Show Choir, the King Edward Choir, and some of the best vocal talent from Barrie High Schools. Each choir will bring their own unique style, from Lyrica’s excellence in choral chamber music, Bravado’s energetic choral-fusion and choreography to the King Edward Choir’s long-standing experience and cultivated talent.

Choralfest will highlight some of the best known and loved music in the classical choral tradition, giving you a selection from 19th century opera to 20th century musicals (West Side Story), including Verdi, Rossini, Bernstein, Puccini, and Borodin. The feature presentation is Carl Orff ’s Carmina Burana.

In a few hours, you will travel through medieval Spain where Gypsies praise hard work and good wine to early 20th century Japan where a young hopeful geisha waits for her husband to return. You will also witness the despair of an 18th Century French woman banished to New Orleans as well as the dawning hope of a modern-day Romeo and Juliet.

In all, Choralfest will include 11 stellar journeys:

Escape On A Musical Adventure With Barrie Choralfest

The City of Barrie wants to ensure that all residents have the ability

to cast their vote and Be Counted in the 2010 Municipal Election

and has made every effort to ensure that this is

fulfilled. Recognizing this, all of Barrie’s voting locations have been selected to provide accessibility for those who require varying support.

Each location features voting machines that

are accessible from a wheelchair offering touch

screen ballots with larger text size for electors who are

partially sighted. Audio ballots

are also available in combination with the Braille-embossed navigation buttons, to support voting in complete privacy for visually impaired voters. For further assistance, all Election Staff have received customer service training in accordance with the City of Barrie’s Accessible Customer Service Policy to provide a positive and inclusive voting experience and will be able to provide you with the support required.

The provision of accessible elections for all electors is one of the key principles associated with municipal elections. The 2010 Municipal Election Accessibility Plan was developed in consultation with Barrie’s Accessibility Advisory

Committee as part of the City’s commitment to the needs of persons with disabilities to identify and eliminate barriers to create a positive voting experience. The purpose of the Plan is to ensure that electoral services provide equal opportunity to all electors and candidates.

The 2010 City of Barrie Municipal Election will provide an election that respects the dignity and independence of all electors while maintaining the integrity of the election process.
