As the parent/guardian of a minor participating in the City of Oakley’s Recreation Programs, Field Trip and Services, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury. This Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement is intended to discharge in advance the City of Oakley, the Oakley Union School District, the Liberty Union High School District and its offi cers, employees, volunteers, and agents from any and all liability arising out of or connected in any way with myself or my child/ward’s participation in said activity, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities mentioned above. Division? Learn how to be a leader and gain fi rst hand experience with this incredible opportunity.

Each participant will function as a junior staff assigned to a specifi c program, event or activ-ity. Junior Recreation Leaders are responsible for assisting Recreation Staff in leading games, activities, and various other duties. Examples of assignments include Summer Blaze Day Camp and Cityhood Celebration. For those interested, this volunteer position may be utilized as community service hours. Each participant is required to fi ll out a volunteer application, sign a waiver and participate in an interview process prior to being accepted into the Junior Recreation Leader Program. All training dates must be att ended. Experience working with children is preferred, however not re-quired. For more information contact Cindy Coelho at [email protected].

Aikido is a non-violent Japanese Budo (martial way), which enriches the life by providing tools for coping with daily challenges. Worldwide, students have found the practice to be extremely benefi cial beyond self-defense. Aikido helps develop skills in confl ict resolution, confi dence, discipline and increases the amount of peace in one’s life. No class July 4.

Grade K-2 basketball camps emphasize dribbling, passing, and shooting through fun activities as well as fun games at the end of each day. Emphasis still remains on the basic skills utilizing fun activities. Grades 3 to 5 camps emphasize team concepts that are presented in game to give the students the beginning of basketball tactics and the development of individual skills while moving to the game level. Participants should wear appropriate clothing and sport shoes, please bring snacks, water bottle and sunscreen. Fee includes a t-shirt.

HUNTER’S SAFETY COURSEAge: all ages and abilitiesLocation: 1250 O’Hara Ave.Instructor: James Scott DFWThis course of study is a 15 hour, 3 day class-room experience. The culmination of the course is a 100 question, closed book exam. Students must score 80% or more to pass the course. At the successful completion of the course, stu-dents are awarded a Dept. of Fish & Wildlife Cer-tifi cate which in turn allows them to purchase a State of Calif. Hunting License. Participants will learn: respect for natural resources, respect for the fi rearm, respect for the law and the future of hunting. *Full attendance is mandatory by the State of Calif. Late arrivals or early departures will result in the student being dismissed from the course, NO EXCEPTIONS. The course study guide can be obtained prior to the start of class.
