SPRING 2015

A ordable RecreationThe Strathcona Regional District and the City of Campbell River believe that the strength of a community can often be measured by the health and wellness of the members within it. For this reason our recreation departments work together to try

to eliminate as many barriers to full participation as possible.

Quality Foods – Rec BucksThis program enables Quality Foods shoppers to redeem their Quality Foods points for Rec Bucks. It’s easy to participate! Simply cash in

200,000 Quality Foods points for a $20 Rec Bucks voucher which is redeemable for recreation programs, admission passes and facility rentals.

Jumpstart 4 – 18 YearsJumpStart is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in nancial need participate in organized sport and recreation. To request funding for a program, complete an application form which is available at the Sportsplex or Community Centre. If you require more information regarding the program, call the Community Centre at 250-286-1161.

Kidsport™ So all kids can play! 6 – 18 YearsAt Kidsport™ we believe that no child should be left on the sidelines. That’s why Kidsport™ eliminates the nancial barriers to sport participation. table of contentsWelcome to Your Recreation & Culture Department! The Recreation & Culture Department exists to provide re c re a t i o n a n d c u l t u r e opportunities and ultimately to help support and create a vibrant, healthy and engaged

community! In 2014, sta undertook an extensive review of service provision and we had an excellent response rate from the community. As you read the Recreation Guide you will see some changes that have been made in response to public input such as; childcare parallel to some tness classes, new weekend programming, and more drop-in and unstructured activity choices. We are also working out in the community to support other organizations with their recreation e orts. We hope you will nd something of interest to support your active lifestyle!

The Morning Catch With Jenn-O! Every Weekday Morning from 6am to 10am

I was born in the big city of Toronto, but have always been an island girl at heart! I’m in love with the city of Campbell River and the generous, welcoming individuals that make this one of the greatest places on earth. I CAN’T WAIT to get married out here in August, and I am currently undergoing the wonderful, (yet panicky/ exciting/ crazy) stage of planning for our upcoming wedding. I’m proud to call this city home, and whether its a quick stroll near the ocean, or a charity event over the weekend, I am constantly blown away by the love and support our community pours out. Walking/ biking the trails, smell of the ocean, beaches, and the endless amount of ‘Hidden Gems’ to explore are just a few of the many things I love most about living out here.

I hope you’ll join me on the Morning Catch weekday mornings between 6-10am. We’ll talk about everything from upcoming events and local issues, to the great artists that make this station tick and maybe even some free prizes to keep you going too!I can be reached at 287-44-44 or via email at:[email protected]
