Maintaining playing fi elds, parks, trails, cemeteries and green spaces.

Implementing the Strategic Parks Plan and Parks projects.

Working with the community on various parks and beautifi cation initiatives.

The City of Campbell River Parks Department is responsible for:

The Parks Department continues to make improvements and showcase the beauty of Campbell River Parks.

Tree Planting: The City was the recipient of a grant from Tree Canada/ BC Hydro which enabled the Parks crew to plant eighty ve European Hornbeam trees along a stretch of the Greenways Loop between Hilchey Road and the Jubilee Parkway. Trees located along the transportation corridor ful ll the City of Campbell River’s ‘Smart Growth’ principles by creating livable spaces that are walkable, inclusive and energy e cient, improving infrastructure to promote active lifestyles, leading to improved physical and social health. Street trees in this area will help with air ltration, wind breaking, urban heat island e ect and carbon sequestration.

Floral Displays: Flowers added a fantastic burst of colour in 2013. The horticulturists highlighted many of the City facilities with showy oral displays.

Rediscovering the beautiful parks: There are many beautiful parks to discover in Campbell River, but a special treat is the view from Cedric Jones Park, which received an update this year from the parks maintenance crew. This lovely little park can be found between 191 and 205 South Alder Street. Check it out!
