ForestryForestryTree Plantings/Tree Plantings/Volunteer OpportunitiesVolunteer OpportunitiesIf you enjoy working outdoors and volunteering, the City of Georgetown’s Urban Forestry department could use your time and talents! Spreading mulch around newly planted trees, removing invasive bushes and trees along the bank of the San Gabriel River and gardening in the Sunken Garden in San Gabriel Park are all activities that need volunteers to keep our city beautiful. The Urban Forester will organize volunteer activities for large or small groups for weekend or weekday times. Please contact us 30 days in advance to organize activities for your group. The Urban Forester organizes public tree plantings during the year; usually one in the fall and one in the spring. Groups can not hold their own tree planting due to certain requirements, but your group is encouraged to volunteer for the public tree plantings organized. If you want to add your name to an email list or are trying to organize a work day contact Heather Brewer, Urban Forester, at [email protected] or call (512) 930-6113.

Memorial Tree & BenchMemorial Tree & BenchAre you looking for a special way to mark the birth of a child, grandchild or celebrate a special birth-day? Having trouble fi nding a unique wedding or anniversary gift? Looking for a way to memorialize loved ones who have passed away? Donating a memorial tree or bench to the City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department is the perfect solution for all these occasions. There are few other gifts that will be as long lasting as a tree. A tree will immortalize your personal occasion, and a bench will give you and your family a place to go to remember. Either of these gifts will give back to your community in ways no other gift can. Memorial trees and benches will provide for a more enjoyable recreation experience for the citizens and visitors of Georgetown for many years to come. For more information about this program, please call Urban Forester, Heather Brewer, at (512) 930-6113 or email [email protected].
