MEDIA LIBRARY

John Ortberg writes in Chapter Two of Living in Christ’s Presence by Dallas Willare: “I rst came across Dallas’s work over twenty years ago when I read his book The Spirit of the Disciplines. I was feeling frustrated because I wasn’t changing the way that I wanted to, and the church where I was serving, folks weren’t changing the way we wanted....”

”Part of what’s wonderful about Dallas is the way he is far from perfect, as all of us are, and he has his own set of struggles. But you get the sense when you are with him that this is not just somebody who is in spiritual formation, but somebody who is actually living in the reality of the kingdom. It has taken over his body in ways that I want it to take over my body.”

In the pages of this book, Dallas and John unfold the reality behind this journey that has potential to make us truly like Christ.

Women love fun, fellowship, and food!! So, let’s join together for a Spring Salad Supper with ALL the women of TRBC.

Archways - May 2014 7Dear Church Family,

There is an exciting ministry in our church some of you may not be aware of. Our goal is to show preschoolers and their families what a loving and caring church we are. We at Taylor Road Baptist Church Mother’s Day Out and Kindergarten strive to be an excellent school with a family type atmosphere. Our Mother’s Day Out consists of ages 6 weeks-3 years of age, while our Kindergarten consists of 3-5 years of age. It is our goal that class sizes remain small so that each student in both divisions of our program receives distinct attention and is appreciated for his/her unique assets, attributes, skills and interests (even before they begin to talk).

In our Kindergarten Programs we have loving, highly trained teachers that use the ABeka curriculum to help students study literature, art, science, history, phonics, writing, Spanish, technology, agriculture and introduce readiness skills with hands-on activities. The goal of the classroom is to help develop the "whole child". The goal of our Program is to help your child learn in a “Christ centered atmosphere” while enjoying their childhood. We try to remember this concept when we plan our year, which is why the curriculum is designed with age-appropriate activities, skills and materials. Many of our activities such as Pajama Day, Bike Day, Super Hero/Princess Day, Family Picnic, Zoo Day, Farm Week, Silly Socks, Muns with Moms, Donuts with Dads, and Growing our butteries are planned to help reinforce learning in a fun way.

With the 2014-2015 school year coming, we look forward to seeing many changes. We will be updating our classrooms with fresh paint. The new colorful rooms will also provide a space for group and individual activities, with play areas allowing for the development of our children both physically and mentally. We strive to allow each Kindergarten class to have a teacher’s aide, hoping this will allow for more personalized and reinforced learning to take place. Children learn in a classroom with well-dened routines where they feel secure and condent. Within this setting we introduce a multitude of concepts using fun and varied activities.

In our Mother’s Day Out we will be adding the K-2 ABeka curriculum to our Two-Year-Old program.

Our children love to read! In Fall 2014, we look forward to seeing a Library come to TRBC. This will be for the children to visit weekly for story time and checking out books.

We are also excited about the Music classes we will be oering in 2014. Piano and violin classes will be oered at Taylor Road Baptist Church weekly.

For as little as $60 a month we are able to open to doors of our church to families around Montgomery who may not normally have their children in church. We have been blessed to see many families start attending Taylor Road Baptist Church because of this ministry. Another amazing aspect of this program is that we are a mission eld in Alabama. This semester we currently represent 7 dierent nationalities. That means that we are sharing the gospel with children from Mexico, Peru, Israel, India, Korea, Singapore, and China without even leaving the city. Don’t forget about our summer program. We have so much fun and take ages 6 weeks to 11 years.

Please plan on joining us this Fall at Taylor Road Baptist Church Weekday Ministry.

Thank you,Holly NicholsWeekday Preschool Director [email protected]
