We are living in times of crisis – everything

is a crisis. There’s the Energy Crisis, the

Housing Crisis, the Economic Crisis, the

Health-care Crisis, the National Security

Crisis, the Stock Market Crisis, and the

“moral” crisis! The list goes on and on.

Will God take all of our crisis situations

away because of His love? Not necessarily.

Sometimes He walks us through crisis

situations to bring us to a higher level of

praise so that He might receive the glory.

What does it take to understand that God

is the answer to all of our problems? He

reminded us a couple of weeks ago with

the “Miracle on the Hudson” plane crash

in which a commercial airliner made a safe

water landing with no loss of life. That was

a reminder, in times of crisis, that Jesus is

alive and well! In that miraculous event, the

pilot walked through twice to make sure

that nobody was left onboard before he left

the aircraft. The co-pilot took off his own

shirt in the bitter cold to give it to one of

the passengers who had slipped into the

frigid water. Both men showed us what

God would do; they placed others ahead of

themselves!

In these Times of Crisis may our Awesome

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit deliver each one

of you!

In His Love,

Andy

We have such an awesome privilege to worship God each Sunday in a beautiful worship center! We are blessed to be able to share Christ with all who enter our doors each week and through our television ministry. All the things we do impact lives around us. For each service, we pray that God will be with us in a powerful way, we extend friendliness toward members and guests during greeting time, the choir smiles as they sing, and we try to have all the variables working together to draw us closer to Him during our worship time.

One of the things that has been on my heart lately is that our choir is not full each week. I’ve asked some of you, personally, to consider singing with us. Frequently, I hear one of these responses: • Oh, believe me, you don’t want me to sing with you. OR • Oh, you guys sound fine without me; you have plenty of people.

Well, if you just can’t carry a tune, I understand; or, if you just don’t enjoy singing, I agree that you probably don’t need to be a part of the choir. If, however, you enjoy singing and can carry a tune, we need you to consider becoming a part of the Worship Choir. There are many of you that I have never been able to speak with personally about this. When I mention it on Sunday to the congregation, you probably don’t think seriously that I am speaking to you. Well, this is a personal invitation: If you like to sing, regardless of how well, we need your help!

Being a part of the choir is really quite simple. Here’s how it works: • We practice on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. • We provide a listening CD of the songs we sing and we rehearse the songs for several weeks before we sing them. • We meet in the Choir Suite on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. to warm up. • We lead worship with all our heart on Sunday mornings and on special occasions.

We are having an “introduction” rehearsal on Wednesday night, February 4. I would like to ask you to consider coming to the rehearsal just to check things out. We will sing through some of the new music for the quarter, give out rehearsal CDs, talk about the upcoming Easter program and listen to a little of the music, as well as discuss the mission of the choir.

Please consider, prayerfully, becoming a part of the Worship Choir. We need at least 15 new members to get where we need to be. If you have questions or need more information, see me on Sunday; or, you can send an email message ([email protected]). Better yet, just meet me on Wednesday, February 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Choir Suite.

Thanks so much for your consideration. I look forward to singing with you!

Children's Ministry

February at TRBC is going to be great! What a perfect time to reflect on God’s love and how our love should

mirror His! We have several opportunities to show that love in action:

February is Food Collection

Month. Our AWANA classes

handed out paper bags on

January 25 to fill with canned

goods for the Chisholm Ministry

Center. Additional bags are

available at the information desk

in the foyer of the Education

Building. Please be generous

and let’s show Christ’s love and

care to our neighbors! We

will collect food all month,

but please start bringing your

contributions right away. We are

asking for volunteers to deliver

the food on two dates – mid-month and end-of-month. If you would like to help with transferring food to temporary

on-site storage and delivering it to the ministry center, please contact the Church Office (271-3363) or Ruth Givens.

This is an important ministry area and we need your help!

There is a HUGE need for Good News Club volunteers at Halcyon Elementary School. Currently, the TRBC-

sponsored club serves children who are eligible to attend the (YMCA) Goodtimes Program at Halcyon. We need to

start a second club that can be open to all children who wish to attend. This is an opportunity to reach many more

children, but we need people-power to do it. We have a place of service for ANYONE willing to help. Please contact

Ruth Givens to volunteer. Training will be provided to those who have a heart, and an hour each week, to share Jesus

with children through the Good News Club.

The second annual Father-Daughter Banquet will be held on Tuesday, February 10. This is a very special and

exciting activity for girls, ages 5 years old through Grade 9, and their fathers! Pictures will begin at 6:00 p.m. and

dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per couple; $5 for each additional daughter. Tickets will be sold

on Sunday, February 1, in the Grand Foyer; in the Fellowship Suite on Wednesday nights; and, in the Church Office

on weekdays. Please note that the banquet is not just for “fathers and daughters.” Bring a special father figure or a

special “adopted” daughter along! Mark the date and get ready for some fun!

An AMAZING Summer Kids’ Camp is being planned! This year, camp will be June

1-5 at Laguna Beach in Panama City Beach, Florida. We have a limited number of spaces

available, so watch for sign-up announcements. Invite your friends; we would love to have a

full group!

Preschool Ministry

That’s right! We LOVE preschoolers! And, this month we want to thank all the volunteers that have a

heart to tell little children about Jesus.

We LOVE our Sunday School teachers! They willingly and joyfully share their hearts, filled with Jesus’ love,

with your children. Each Wednesday night they meet together to prepare for Sunday. If you have a

preschooler please thank his/her teacher this month for sharing Jesus with your child.

We LOVE the teams of volunteers. They lovingly care for our children during worship service each Sun-

day. They are essential to TRBC worship and other ministries. I would like to thank Jessica Gamble, Lynn

Williams, Melanie Fore, and Elizabeth Anderson for serving as leaders of the teams of people who care for

preschoolers during morning worship services. These faithful volunteers serve sacrificially each month. If

you are not part of one of these teams, you will have the opportunity to join this month.

We LOVE our weekday children and teachers! The TRBC preschool area is alive during the week with

children from our church and from the city. This has been a great year and we are blessed to have a full

house each day. Mothers Day Out is for ages Birth – 36 months and Kindergarten is for ages 3 – 4.

NOTE: We will begin registration for the fall and summer weekday program on February 2. Church

members should take advantage of priority registration and a discounted fee during the first week of

February.

On February 8 the Preschool Choir (4 & 5-year-olds) will share some special music during the evening

worship service. Join them right away for practice at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday nights.
