Preschool and Children

School is winding down and that can mean only one thing-- VBS is just around the corner. This year we will winding, rolling, ipping and speeding through the “Colossal Coaster World.”VBS is such an important time for our church each year. I would just like to take a moment to run through some of the most important aspects of VBS:1) Children who attend VBS often take home more Bible teaching and truth than they will in the rest of the year.2) VBS encourages our church to work together toward one goal....sharing the gospel!3) Our VBS is at a time of year that is perfect to be a ministry for newly arriving military families in the area. What better way for a family to check us out, than through VBS! We need volunteers of every type. We need teachers, helpers, directors, people who are musically inclined, those who love missions, ones who enjoy art, and so much more! Our volunteer and learner registration is open online at www.Taylorroad.org. We will also have a volunteer registration table set up in the Grand Foyer during the month of May. Please take the time to stop by and register!

Monday, May 20, is our VBS director’s meeting. This will be held in the Fellowship Suite from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and is for all age group directors. We will have a later meeting for volunteers and teachers.

Summer at Taylor Road also means KIDS CAMP. This year we will be at Camp Chandler for our Camp entitled “The Rock.” Children who have completed 3rd Grade-completed 6th Grade will be able to attend. The cost is $150 and the camp dates are June 17-20. We will be taking part in Bible study and small groups, as well as archery, riery, canoeing, swimming, and much more! Please stop by the table during the month of May to sign-up! We have reserved plenty of space for this year so feel free to invite your friends for a fabulous week of fun and spiritual growth.

Church Safety We are updating our volunteer safety screenings this year for ALL volunteers in ALL PRESCHOOL, CHILDREN’S, and YOUTH programming. That means if you come in contact in a leadership role with any of these age groups at any point during the week, you need to have one of these checks completed. We will have a table set up in the Grand Foyer the entire month of May for you to complete your background check information. This is an easy way to make our church safer. Please make an eort to ll these out as soon as possible, so that we can get results in time for VBS!

Mom, Mother, Ma, Mom, Mommy, Mama, Mummy. What do you call your mother? We all have special names for our mothers and for the mother gures in our lives. Proverbs 31 gives us a biblical description of a mother. "But a women who fears The Lord, she shall be praised." Come celebrate this special day with us. We will have muns and photos for your family. Sunday, May 12, at 8:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Suite.

Parent child dedication May 26. Please have information to Belinda by May 19.

WOMEN ON MISSION

Using Montgomery Mission Opportunities (M2O) as our inspiration, Women on Mission took on several challenging projects this year. What a blessing it has been to serve the needs of others in our community and world.

In December and again in March, Women on Mission prepared and served a home cooked meal to over 100 men, women and children at the Truth and Reality Homeless Shelter in downtown Montgomery. It was a privilege to dedicate the March meal to the late Julie Miller who went to be with the Lord last year. Julie Miller was an active member of TRBC Women on Mission for a number of years. At her request, Julie’s memorial funds were used to support Women On Mission projects. SPECIAL THANKS to our entire church congregation for participating in the fall clothing drive. Thanks to your generous donations, clothing was provided to the Community of Hope, Forest Park Ministry Center, and Hands of Christ Ministry Center. Your donated shoes were given to the Mid Alabama Coalition for the Homeless. SPECIAL THANKS to our Taylor Road members for supporting the drive for prescription eyeglasses. Because of your contributions, 186 people in Nicaragua will receive prescription eyeglasses in May. Neither of these projects would have been successful without the support of the entire congregation and we are sincerely grateful for your help. Other projects this year included fruit baskets and visits to the homebound of our church, lunch for the AUM Baptist Student Ministry, assistance with the Agape Run, and visits to Cedar Crest Nursing Home residents.

UPCOMING EVENT: The Women On Mission salad luncheon will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Suite. Please bring a salad to share with your friends as we celebrate another successful year together. Entertainment will be provided by “The Notables.” Plus, a SUR-PRISE has been planned just for you. Look forward to seeing you on May 6. EXCITING NEWS!!!!Women on Mission (WOM) is expanding their group at Taylor Road Baptist Church!!!!In order to accommodate the schedules of women with younger children and working women, Women On Mission is expanding. Missions Opportunities for 2013

It is our desire to provide meaningful mission opportunities to everyone in our church family. Please pray about how God might use you in the days and months ahead to be involved in one of these opportunities. You may go, give to support others who want to go, and pray for these mission eorts.

Dominican Republic, June 22-29 This is a change from the Brazil trip. We will work with a church from Georgia to build a church in the city of Puerto Plata on the north shore of the country. The cost of the trip is approximately $1500. Please contact Dean Finch if you are interested in this kind of work. 271-3363.

Ocoee Outreach Project, July 6-12This mission project is coordinated with other churches through the North American Mission Board of our Southern Baptist Convention. The challenge of this trip is to restore homes, renew hope and reach hearts for Jesus Christ. Ocoee Outreach is a community ministry that provides free home repair to low-income home owners in Southeast Tennessee. This is a wonderful opportunity for a family to be "on Mission" together. The cost of the week is approximately $200.00 per person and includes lodging and most meals. Contact Dean Finch to learn more about this trip. Space is limited.

Stateside Building Trip, June 22-29This trip is open to Men, Women, and families. This trip will take the building team back to Diamond, MO, where they will be working with other churches in doing construction work on a church. Wayne Miller leads the construction team. To learn more about their work, contact Wayne at 334-303-3803, 334-279-9003 or email at [email protected].
