May is an incredible month for families! Graduation, Mother’s Day, Parent/Child Dedication, Memorial Day, school’s almost out, and vacation time is near!! Many of you are planning some great times for the summer. Thanks for making your church a special place where you enjoy worshipping and celebrating the Lord. You are faithful to make church attendance a priority in your planning and I am grateful for your commitment to the Lord.

In the deacons’ meeting this past month we spent time talking about what we, as the Church, can do to ease the hardship on families that has been created by the recession and unemployment. Our Benevolence Team is very competent and e"cient in helping those in need. Recently, we have not been able to help to the extent that we would like because of a lack of funds. Everywhere in the New Testament Jesus tells how we are to help those in need. Matthew 6:1-4 gives a warning and an implication. The warning is to be sure that charitable deeds are done in secret. The implication is that we are to do charitable deeds to please the Lord.

Let me encourage you to take an o#ering in your Bible Study and Discipleship classes, as well as other church gatherings, for the Church Benevolence fund. Each Wednesday night in Bible Study we look forward to receiving a benevolence o#ering. If you choose to do so, you can include an amount for benevolence in your regular o#erings by making a notation on your check and/or on your o#ering envelope. May each of us be encouraged to give above and beyond for the needs of others to be a blessing to others!

Jesus is Lord! God is at work in the hearts of people. Be encouraged that God will make a way when there seems to be no way. Our God is awesome! Celebrate Him with your whole heart. Let not your hearts be troubled, believe in God. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

May your May be !lled with His love,

Pastor Andy

When I was growing up in church, we had two volunteers that ran all of the media for Sunday worship services. As recently as 2007, Taylor Road Baptist Church had only three people in the background during morning worship services. When we entered our new Worship Center in 2008, services at Taylor Road changed and continue to evolve as new technologies become available. Now, more than ever, we need more people to step up to help.

In a regular worship service at Taylor Road, we have nine volunteers working each Sunday morning, and three on Sunday evening. We have volunteer operators for sound, lighting, screens, video direction, cameras, character generator and internet.

If you are interested in helping out in the Media Ministry, I would love to talk with you soon about your areas of interest and involvement. If you want to learn more about the Media Ministry, check out www.TaylorRoad.org/media. Hopefully you will get a little better idea of what we do on Sunday mornings and how you can !t in!

Blessings In Christ,

Brian Harris

The Egg-stravaganza last month was a huge success (pictures on page 8 and even more at www.taylorroad.org/photogallery). Both the Cleveland Court and Bridle Brook events were well-sta!ed and well-attended. We are truly grateful to every person who helped make these events go so smoothly. Thank you for giving so generously!! We had plenty of food, candy, and eggs. Thank you for your sacri"ce of time. We were humbled by the number of church members who took time to serve; and, both communities were truly touched by your loving attitudes and actions. We are blessed to be a part of such a loving and Christ-like church body.

April also brought an end to our Bible Drill season and we are so proud of the children who participated. Several of our children did very well at the district level competition. Thanks to all who were involved in this ministry.

The month of May ushers in the last remaining days of school and the end of our regular school-year programs. The "nal AWANA store is on May 19. The AWANA awards ceremony, lunch and Pinewood Derby will be in the Rally Room on Sunday, May 23, after the morning worship service. During this time, we will recognize accomplishments of the children, eat hotdogs, and have our Pinewood Derby. Fellas, you need to watch out, because girls will participate for the "rst time ever!!

Wednesday, May 26, will be the "rst night of our Summer Games. Be there and be ready for fun!

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is right around the corner! If you are interested in helping with this year’s program (July 19-23), we have a place for you and we need your special talents. Contact us to talk about your interests and availability and our needs.

Finally, if you have not yet signed up for Children’s Summer Camp – ANIMATED: Made Alive in the Spirit – please do so right away. We may still have a few openings. Contact Ruth ([email protected]) immediately.

We look forward to a fun-"lled, Christ-"lled summer!
