Objective 1 Amcan 1 To review and report on the beneficial outcomes of all recent Jisc Advance/RSC Wales TEL institutional support initiatives

Objective 2 Amcan 2 To align the review outcomes with current TEL activity across the newly merged institution and to inform institutional planning

Objective 3 Amcan 3 To create a plan for enhancing staff development in the use of TEL based on the regional support centre resources

Objective 4 Amcan 4 To report and disseminate the SIP project outcomes

Swansea Metropolitan University merged with University of Wales Trinity Saint David in 2012 and the new institution is currently developing its new operational structures and processes. Technology enhanced learning has been identified as a priority development area in the past by each of the institutions and they have collaborated in a number of innovative projects funded by Jisc, the EU and the Welsh Government. This project will assist in the development of a new TEL plan for the institution and will inform and reinforce the staff development of this through the use of Jisc resources.

6Please briefly describe the activities/tasks you anticipate undertaking as part of your SIP Placement Disgrifiwch yn gryno y gweithgareddau/tasgau y rhagwelwch y byddwch yn ymgymryd â nhw fel rhan o'ch Lleoliad SIP

The activities/tasks will include: 1. An initial discussion with the RSC Wales team to review recent initiatives and outcomes and to scope the project; 2. A mapping of the review outcomes to the current and aspirational TEL activities and plans at Swansea Met/Trinity Saint David; 3. Consultations in the University with senior management and operational staff responsible for TEL about the application of appropriate Jisc Advance/RSC Wales resources; 4. A plan for dissemination and staff development based on the project outcomes.

The benefits to Swansea Metropolitan/UW Trinity Saint David will be in the increased capacity of the university to support TEL developments and the skills of the staff in implementation.

The benefits to the Jisc Advance/RSC Wales will be in the successful dissemination and benefits realisation of their various innovative TEL support initiatives with institutions in the region.

The outputs from this placement will include: 1. A review report on recent Jisc Advance/RSC Wales TEL initiative outcomes; 2. A report mapping these outcomes to the institutional TEL objectives and identifying priorities for development; 3. An outline staff development plan for awareness raising of recent TEL innovation and to enhance the capacity of staff to contribute.
