    Speakers

The planning of the speaking program for the 2007 Fall Digital Dealer Conference & Exposition is well under way and promises to not only build on the previous two events, but will reach even higher in helping fulfill attendees goals and aspirations.

Below are some of the confirmed speakers, touching on some of the topics they will be presenting on. Keep checking back as we round out a fantastic program that will absolutely have a direct, positive affect on your efforts in your store(s) when you get back.

Jim Ziegler, The Dealer Advocate will give the opening keynote address, and is responsible for the title of the conference, Its Time To Get Serious About The Internet. Besides writing the most widely read column in the retail automotive industry for Dealer magazine, Jim is a Certified Professional Speaker and has spoken at innumerable state and metro dealer association events. Jim is consistently one of the top two or three rated speakers at the NADA Convention & Exposition. He always finds the right combination of sharing valuable information and entertaining his audiences. You will NOT soon forget the time you heard Jim Ziegler speak in Las Vegas.

In 2005, Allan Cooper was named one of ten Internet Pioneers by J.D. Power and Associates. Allan was doing CRMwhen CRM was not yet cool, taking advantage of technology to build relationships and sell vehicles. Allans depth of knowledge, been there done that experience and forward thinking, combined with his easy speaking style and Aussie accent and sense of humor, always guarantee that hearing him speak will be a valuable and memorable experience. Allen will be sharing his vast knowledge, experience and expertise regarding CRM and retail automotive sales.

Christopher Ferris has been the sales systems manager at Saab Nashua North, located in southern New Hampshire, for six years. He is a former executive recruiter, Fortune 500 corporate security manager and U.S. Army tactical intelligence officer who served in both infantry and special forces units. Chris received the most creative Internet Sales Professional award at the March 2007 AAISP digital dealer conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

Ferris conference session, titled Who are You? I Really Want to Know - Learn all About Your Customer Before You Ever Contact Them will offer insights into how you can use his methods of extracting available information about potential customers from the Internet before ever having a conversation with the prospect.

As an award-winning ISM for Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix Arizona, Ralph Paglia became recognized as a leading-edge authority on Internet automotive sales. Interviews, accolades, cover stories and speaking invitations followed and today, Ralph is Director of Digital Marketing for ADP Dealer Services. His session is tentatively titled "Transactional eCommerce Web Sites for Car Dealers."

A transactional Web site allows a consumer to do the same thing as existing transactional websites. New digital marketing prototypes are being piloted by several major dealer groups, allowing consumers to pick a car from the dealership's inventory, negotiate a price, get approved for financing, select their accessories and F&I products, pay their down payment to the dealer online, and receive a DMS generated deal number and full finance disclosures on a real time basis, says Paglia.

How does that R+R/ADP/UCS system work? Can I measure the profitability of my Internet department? What kind of reports can I run and how? How is buy rate determined? If you have questions that you've always wanted to ask the controller, general manager, or F&I manager, here is your chance to ask. Sandi Jerome has over 30 years in the business and knows how the accounting office, F&I office, and whole dealership works including your DMS systems and other technology. "It's Time To Get Serious About The Internet"

Welcome, to the official website of the 3rd Digital Dealer Conference & Exposition.

Based on the success of the AAISP Digital Dealer Conference & Expositions in Nashville the last two springs, and also on much input from attendees, weve realized that once per year is just not often enough for an event such as this. So were heading to Las Vegas this October and will head back East in Spring 2008, holding this event twice annually.

Because as one attendee succinctly put it, In todays marketplace, change happens so quickly, one year is what five years used to be.

Well, we certainly cant have an event this important once every five years. Technology is evolving, best practices are changing, processes are improving, new solutions are arriving, competitors are catching up (or surpassing)there is only one way to stay ahead of the curve, and thats by attending this event.

Whether your dealership(s) are trendsetters, just getting started, or anywhere in between, the 3rd Digital Dealer Conference & Exposition is a MUST-attend event. From the uber-informative industry-expert led sessions to the unmatched peer networking opportunities to the Exhibit Hall, the place to meet current and potential vendors in an atmosphere where you can discuss, evaluate and compare products, services, solutions and technologies that will increase your businesssomeone from your dealership(s) has GOT to be there.

PLUS, for the first time, were offering a day Newbie training session, so that even the newest neophyte to the business can get up to speed and get the max out of the two days of sessions and events.

ALSO, weve taken the input from 114 attendee surveys from the last event and made the following improvements to make this event even better than the previous two combined:

Longer sessions than the last two conferences - more time for presentation - more time for Q&A.

More peers and consultants / trainers speaking, less vendors speaking - predominately practitioners and consultants / trainers doing the speaking.

All sessions will be how-to, hands-on, nuts & bolts, execution-oriented - we're avoiding overviews and future prognostications. Just the facts, ma'am.

  • 3rd Digital Dealer Conference & Exposition: October 1-3, 2007

More peer networking opportunities - more time to do what most attendees seemed to get the most out of - networking with peers from across the country (plus Australia, Canada, and Nigeria last conference).

1 large exhibit hall for 50+ exhibitors - all exhibitors will be in one HUGE exhibit hall to make best use of your time when talking to them.

A new "Newbie" 1/2 day training session for those new to internet automative sales held on the afternoon before the conference starts. Get up-to-speed and get the most out of the power-packed 2-day conference. Dealers and GM's welcome!

"Twist" pens given out instead of "click" pens on a suggestion they would be less distracting during sessions (why didn't we think of that?).

So dont delaywe sold out the last two conferences, dont miss out on the biggest and best one yet. REGISTER NOW!

    Agenda

In order to accommodate getting you into the sessions you most want to attend, we will have all registrants sign up for specific sessions online after registration is closed, as opposed to having sessions set and then attendees having to select from a set agenda once they get there. We will then determine the best times for each session and most appropriately sized rooms. As such, we cannot yet give times of sessions as this will not be set until 30 days from the event. Please refer to Speakers to see what sessions are being held on what topics, and please select your sessions online when asked via email.

The purpose of this is to avoid anyone not being able to attend a particular session because of a full room, or missing a session because there were two at the same time that they really wanted to attend. Also, the most popular sessions may be scheduled to be repeated if demand dictates.

My problems are not only my problems but very similar to others and being able to converse and network with other ISM's, I was able to make some decisions I otherwise probably would not have made.

Joseph Vaccaro Internet Director Toyota of Tampa Bay Tampa Bay, FL

This conference was great! I am completely new to the car business and since the conference I have gained so much and I was able to bring it back to the dealership and make some great changes. We have set so many more appointments since returning from the conference and it hasn't even been a month yet! I would encourage all beginning Internet Sales Managers to attend this conference as well as GMs! The Internet is going to take over the car buying industry sooner than we think.

Lindsey Ann Akers Internet Sales Manager John Jones GM City Salem IN

Trying to get old school car guys to understand the importance of this new way of communication is very difficult. The conference provided me with lots of facts, numbers and results to present to my GM.

Vickie Munsey Internet Sales Director Superior Volvo Kansas City, MO

It was very motivating. If my GM or Owner would have been there, I would have more money to spend.

Michael Richardson CIM Preston Hood Chevrolet Biloxi, MS

I came on my own. Paid all my expenses. Never asked for any approval or support. What if they had said, No, you can't go? Taking part in the AAISP Digital Dealer Conference helps me become better at what I do... sell vehicles using the Internet.

Too much to write. My eyes and ears couldnt possible take it all in and process it. It would be easier to write what I didnt care for only because there is so little.

Andy Shambarger Internet Director Brondes Ford Toledo,OH

The conference exceeded my expectations in that I have a broader understanding of what's happening in the US market, with regard to Internet initiatives. It was pleasing to learn that the way we currently do things in Australia could be considered on par with many US dealers, which may enable us to adopt some of the many exciting products & services available as we begin to realise the benefits of developing our online presence.

Jamie Moyle eSM John Hughes Online Perth, WA Australia

I attend several conferences each year and for the past 2 years the AAISP Digital Dealer conference has provided me with more real-world business practice improvements than any other. In 2006 our team from Courtesy Chevrolet went back to the dealership from the conference with new techniques that allowed us to increase used vehicle sales dramatically. In 2007 we brought back several new operational processes, but one related to URL acquisition began to pay off for us before the 2007 conference ended!

Ralph Paglia e-Business Director Courtesy Chevrolet Phoenix, AZ

Being brand new in this business, all information I gained was extremely worthwhile. It taught me how to identify, and identify with, the Internet shopper.

Dennis Bloking ISM/BDC Director Carter of Manchester Manchester, CT

I was able to see the vendors gathered in a group and see what they had to offer one after another while it was fresh. The networking was great and I enjoyed comparing notes with other professionals in my field.

Kim Clouse ISM Scott Crump Toyota/Scion Jasper, AL

Great to get a real feel for what dealerships NOT based in my market (the Northeast) were doing

Joe Rachiele Director of Internet Sales/Marketing Hurd Auto Mall Cranston, RI

The conference was very helpful and I look forward to attending again.

Jennifer Kingery Internet Director Freeway Ford Littleton, CO

As web manager for Columbia Sportswear for the last 9 years I had a fairly decent background regarding the web. As such, I have been struggling to get my arms around the dealership world. This conference was a great immersion tool for me to more quickly identify how I can help my dealerships in my new position as eMarketing Coordinator for the Kuni Auto Group.

Randy R. Cole eMarketing Coordinator Kuni Automotive Vancouver, WA

A great conference. I went into it expecting to glean a few ideas to help me back at the dealership, yet came away with a notebook full of exciting ideas that will be systematically implemented in the upcoming year.

Tharon Lambert E-Commerce Director J.C. Lewis Ford Savannah, GA

I gained awareness of: tools available now, trends in Internet marketing, the intensity and techniques used by some competitors, a broader appreciation of the website as a "virtual showroom" and some hints for improving our own. Our owner is a forward-moving dealer. His investment in sending me affirmed the significance of the role I serve and challenged me toward creative and aggressive advances in how we do things both in marketing and in processing Internet-driven leads.

Bruce Rulapaugh Internet Sales & Website Coordinator Birdnow Dealerships Oelwein, IA

I just started in this industry four months ago. I am getting my feet wet in Internet sales. I was able to understand more about Internet shoppers, woman buyers, E-Bay, and other avenues to do business.

Brian Aycock Internet Sales Rep Dick Dyer and Associates Columbia, SC

I found this conference to be quite valuable. My goal was to collect information on best practices and fundamental information on how to best sell to our customers via the Internet. We have a long way to go, but I've got a better idea of the path.

Teresa Miller General Manager Martin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Inc. Alma, MI

On a scale of 1-10, the conference was a 9.9

Adam Kesler Internet Manager Slone Suzuki Louisville, KY

The conference gave me a barometer of what is being done, who is doing it, and with the right tools, what CAN be done. That was great - some great ideas for me to bring back.

Kate Tallman Internet Sales Manager BMW / MINI of Towson / BMW of Bel Air Havre de Grace, MD

The opportunity to network with highly motivated colleagues from a wide spectrum of dealerships and first class vendors was unparalleled.

Christopher Ferris Sales Systems Manager Saab Nashua North Merrimack, NH

Like last year, I came away with energy and new ideas. Also what it did was confirm plans that I already set in motion.

    Jim Congdon Internet Manager

The annual AAISP Digital Dealer conference has quickly become a "must-attend" event for me. Just when you think you're good - you're WOW'd by the best practices and creativity of a myriad of Internet professionals. The "cafeteria plan" that I bring back to my dealership has been an indispensable advantage. I'm selfishly glad that my competitors haven't yet attended!
