Value DrivenEvery organization, regardless of its size or tenure in the market, will have moments in which itsmission and the commitment to the values upon which it is established are tested. The SleasmanInsurance Agency was established April, 2008, a time many will recall of great economic andpolitical uncertainty. Very few experts projected any relief in the immediate future, and manyamong us continue in this great struggle even today. As the son of a passionate public schoolteacher and prolific business owner and WWII Veteran, I am privileged to be the youngest often productive members of our greater Capital Region community. I learned early that commitmentto values allows us to weather the storms that life sometimes can bring and to keep our feet tiedto the ground when the clouds do lift. It is only natural that these values are among the guidingprinciples upon which I continue to build our business:Integrity. Honesty. Respect. Commitment.Knowing that I share these values with the thousands of professionals within the State Farmorganization, who live and work in our communities, has allowed me and my staff to help a greatmany families, business owners, single parents and individuals celebrate life’s greataccomplishments and navigate life’s awesome challenges. There simply is no website or toll freenumber, that can replace this experience for our valued clients, my staff, or my family. Ourcollective gratitude is immeasurable. As we look forward to the future, and the hopeful prospectsof a continuing improving economy, we take time this Memorial Day weekend to reflect andopenly express our gratitude for the many sacrifices our Veterans and their families have madeand are making for our uniquely American Values.Best Wishes as we celebrate the heroes who live and once lived among us all! Happy MemorialDay! The Sleasman Agency, Peter J Sleasman, State Farm Insurance, 518 286 2886,www.insuremepete.com. Experience. The Difference. MORE THAN 75 YEARS COMBINED EXPERIENCED

DEA COMPUTING ~ SERVING THE CAPITAL

DISTRICT FOR 16 YEARS!

DEA Computing is afamily owned andoperated computerrepair and salesbusiness. We arecurrently in our 16thyear of business. Ourdoors opened on Oct.1, 1997 on Main Ave., Wynantskill. Moving back to the CapitalDistrict, after 13 years of being a nuclear machinist aboardvarious Submarines, while enlisted in the US Navy, Destry andTerri Agy felt it was time for a change. And a computer storewas born! Our goal was to provide computer equipment andservices for the up and coming trend of home PC’s. The computerage was booming and we had the skills and the knowledge tohelp the bustling community we called home leap into the future. We learned early on that people did not want to pay a lot tohave their computers repaired; with money tight, spending alot on a repair was hard to justify. Quite often we hear “is thatall?” Yes that’s all.Over the years, we have met many wonderful people andsome life-long friends. Our biggest asset is that we talk to ourcustomers in a way you can understand. We will sit down andexplain anything from web search to using word if it is needed.Staying a Mom and Pop business has given us the opportunityto build an amazing reputation as a knowledgeable, friendly, and caring computer store. We care just as much about your baby and vacation photos asyou do!So much these days relies on having your computer back toyou quickly, and we try as hard as possible to make thathappen; even if it means coming in early or staying late. Wecustom build our systems to meet your needs. We do everythingin our power to make sure you are happy with your serviceeither in the store or onsite.A few months ago, a long-time customer brought in a machinethat we had built 15 years ago. It was a good feeling to knowit had served him well all that time. We are thrilled with ourcustomer loyalty, and knowing people argue over who has thebetter computer repair people, only to find out both are ourcustomers.Over the years, we have strived to keep our prices low. Weunderstand what it is like to raise a family on a limited budgetand how important cost is. We shop around too, and encourageour customers to do the same when it comes to buying newcomputers or just doing a repair. We are confident you will findour prices to be extremely competitive.

destroyed when a spark from a locomotive started the fire onthe wooden covered Green Island Bridge, with ashes cast asfar as Poestenkill and Sand Lake. Troy was one of the firstcommunities in this area to buy steam controlled fire trucks, sothe firefighters were able to contain the fire laterally. The firewas finally stopped at what is now 8th Street to the east,Federal Street to the north and Congress Street to the south. There are many more facts to learn about this historical event,so we hope you will be able to attend. RALLY FOR PUBLIC EDUCATIONThe Averill Park Teachers would like to invite the Averill ParkSchool District community to join us at the Rally for PublicEducation on June 8, 2013 at the Capitol in Albany. We aremarching on Albany to insist that New York State fairly fundour school district to avoid further devastating cuts to yourchild’s educational programs. Over the last few years, ourstudents have lost many important classes, programs, services, and teachers. It is time to stand up and say we will not tolerateany more cuts to our school district. On April 23rd, the Averill Park Board of Education adopted aresolution against high stakes testing. We live in anunprecedented time of testing. Our students in grades 3-8just finished two weeks of intense NYSED standardized testingwhere the “average” student tested for over 450 minutes andwe will be testing again within a week or two according totesting regulations set forth by the state educationdepartment. The Rally for Public Education will give us acollective voice to tell NYSED that students need to spendmore time at school learning and less time taking standardizedtests AND that we stand united against standardized tests forgrades K-2.We would truly appreciate community support of this Rally forPublic Education on 6-8-13. Educators, students, families, administrators, and Board of Education members across NewYork State will be in Albany to use one collective voice to tellNew York State that our students are too important to not getpublic education decisions right. For information on the rally, please go to www.aptany.com. PLEASE JOIN US 6-8-13!Thank you. KIDS

ReNEW VBS at ST. TIMOTHY’S THIS SUMMERAugust 5th-9th, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

God’s creation is a gift we all share. We live in it and depend on it together. Caring for it is bothgood work and collective act of faith. The Bible is filled with teachings that reveal our dependenceon God through the bounty of the earth. ReNew weaves together the rich natural imagery ofthe Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-15) with engaging activities, music, crafts and scienceexperiments the kids will love, resulting in a memorable experience of the Word through theperspectives of Self, Community, and World. Each day, creative Bible storytelling will focus on one section to discover how it relates to caringfor God’s creation. Centered in stewardship, the kids learn, create, and do things that changetheir world. Their faith is put into action and impacts the wider community.St. Timothy’s is at the corner of Bloomingrove Drive and Winter St. Ext. in Defreestville.
