The Town of Brunswick Fall Leaf pickup runs throughWednesday, November 26th, unless there’s a significantsnowfall. If conditions allow, we may run ahead of this scheduleand be able to make an additional leaf collection pass throughthe town. This will be a leaf pickup only. No brush, tires or metal will bepicked up. Leaves must be raked to the edge of the road withno sticks or other debris in the piles. They will not be picked up!Also, please avoid piling leaves in ditches. The vacuum machinescannot access leaves placed in ditches. This is a labor-intensivejob in a short season, so it is important that we expedite thisprogram as fast as possible. If you are planning to use bags, they must be biodegradablepaper bags only. No sticks, dirt or other debris should be placedin the bags. They are for leaves only. After the regular pickup schedule has been completed, or inthe event of an early snowstorm prior to completion of theregular pickup, you must place the remainder of your leaves inbiodegradable paper bags. The vacuum machines do notfunction with wet leaves. Please note - the leaf pickup was designed for residents wholive in areas that do not have a place to dispose of their leaves.Due to the short season for leaf pickup, we encourage residentsthat are able to dispose of their own leaves to please do so.Highway Department telephone 279–3461 ext. 117

SALVATION ARMY BELL-RINGING IN

MEMORY OF CHRISTOPHER BASCOMThe Salvation Army bells will be rung at the East Greenbush

Wal-Mart from 10 am until 8 pm Monday,December 1, in memory of ChristopherBascom to commemorate what would havebeen his 28th birthday. As in years past, family members and friends will serve as bell-ringers to honor a boy who died much tooearly and was himself giving in nature.(Columbia High School students will continuein the same tradition, but at a later date.)

Christopher was 16 years old and a junior at Columbia when hewas killed by a hit and run driver in November, 2003. To honorhis life and the values he held dear, it seems especiallyappropriate to remember him by helping others. His passionwas to make others happy; thus, his spirit and compassion forpeople will be perpetuated by ringing the bells in his memory. The Salvation Army provides multiple kinds of assistance to theneedy, and at Christmas time their red kettles help us all tofocus on those less fortunate. Therefore, it is a win/win situationto contribute to this cause in memory of Christopher; a worthyorganization garners funds and a tangible way to reflect onChris’ life is provided.Donations may be made at any Red Kettle or sent directly tothe Salvation Army Headquarters Troy Corp, 410 River St.,Troy, NY 12180. If you want ALL of your contribution to staylocal, please write in the memo of your check “in memory ofChristopher Bascom” or “Troy Corps”. People may also donateby using the following link on-line: www.onlineredkettle.org/ChrisBascom.
