generous contributions and commitment to our Catholic community, we were able to sponsor a successful fundraiser for our children. The following restaurants donated to the January 19th fundraiser: Bella Roma - Price Chopper, B-rads Bistro & Catering, Brown's Brewing Co., Carol's Place for Pizza & Subs, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Forty One Sports Bar & Grille, O'Briens Public House, Park Pub & Restaurant, Terry's Kitchen Deli and Catering, Tex's Pig Pit BBQ, The Black Bear Inn, The Flying Chicken, The Recovery Sports Grill, The Sports Grill, The Towne Tavern, Uncle Marty's Adirondack Grill, Villa Valenti Pub. Although there were six winning restaurants, all 17 made it possible for our students to be winners. Blind Taste Test: Winner: Park Pub & Restaurant; 1st runner up: Dinosaur-Bar-B-Que; 2nd runner up: B-rads Bistro & Catering. Peoples’ Choice: Winner: The Towne Tavern; 1st Runner up: Villa Valenti Pub; 2nd Runner up: Uncle Marty's Adirondack Grill. We would also like to thank Lusco Paper Co., Price Chopper Supermarkets, Tremont Rentals, and the UPS store (Hoosick Rd) for their donations; also a special thank you to Michael Cocca and his staff at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom, Troy’s finest banquet hall, for their continued support of Catholic education. WITH YOUR PET

(MS) — * Give your pet the best.Look for a pet food that providesthe highest quality, healthiest, most f lavorful and least-processed ingredients available.* Look for the little extras. A highquality pet food will provideimportant extras such as pre-and probiotics, digestiveenzymes and antioxidant richfruits and vegetables.* Appreciate your pet’smealtime. Life is busy, so whynot make your pet’s mealtime anopportunity to enjoy, relax andspend some time together? Petsseem to have it all figured outand can certainly teach us athing or two about living in themoment. And, did you knowthat pet ownership can also helpdecrease our blood pressure and

STATEMENT from. CO. EXEC. JIMINO

Governor’s 2013 State Budget ProposalGovernor’s 2013 State Budget ProposalGovernor’s 2013 State Budget ProposalGovernor’s 2013 State Budget ProposalGovernor’s 2013 State Budget ProposalI am disappointed that property tax relief for our overburdenedproperty taxpayers is not a priority in this budget proposal. With 89 cents of every dollar raised locally going to pay forstate and federal mandates, I had hoped the Governor wouldaddress the state mandates that drive local costs and localtaxes as we continue to be forced to fund those mandatedprograms. From my initial review, it appears the only mandaterelief proposal included in the Governor’s budget that wouldaffect the County is the pension proposal that would allow usto borrow from the pension system to reduce short termexpenses while requiring us to pay additional costs in the future.Based on what I have seen thus far, the Governor’s proposedbudget would still require an increase in state mandatedspending for county property taxpayers in the areas ofMedicaid, welfare, and children with special needs programsamong others. The result will be more pressure to cut localservices our residents rely upon or raise taxes on those sameresidents to pay the state’s bills.Once the complete budget proposal is available, we will begina detailed review to see if any changes are proposed to otherexisting or new state mandates for counties and how they willaffect us.
