THE CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, New York 10924 www.sjegoshen.org - (845) 294-5328 - [email protected] Below is the parish financial summary for the 2015-2016 fiscal year, which concluded last August 31. Thanks to your continued and faithful generosity, coupled with a careful eye on expenditures, the record reflects a healthy surplus, though some of the revenue sources are one-time shots. To that end, there are a few points I’d like to highlight and/or clarify: UPK Rental: Every parish which, like St. John’s, serves as “host” to a regional school, received a portion of the income generated by the universal pre-K program in a Catholic school which has such a program. That money is to be put back into the maintenance and upkeep of the school building. (We recently received another such check, albeit about half the amount of this one; that will be re- flected in next fiscal year’s report.) Fundraising/Renew & Rebuild: This represents the first disbursements from the Renew+Rebuild capital campaign. NYS CAP and Interest: In 2016, New York State released funds that were owed to schools, dating back almost a decade. Because this dates to a time before regionalization, these monies were reimbursed to the parish. Cathedraticum: This is the “tax” paid to the archdiocese for services provided to the parish. I repeat my gratitude to the members of the finance council – Frances Cifuni, Maureen Lahiff, Rick Golden, Tom McCarty, John Swift, Tim Toohey, and George Weiss – for their insights and observations. Should you have any questions about the financial summary, please feel free to speak with me or any of the council. Faithfully your priest, Fr. St. John School is looking for a FULL-TIME MAINTENANCE PERSON/CUSTODIAN to work

from 6:30am to 2:30pm, Monday-Friday. Anyone

interested in this position should call the principal, Lisa Ferraro, at the school (294-6434).

Our youth will hold soup pots at the church doors on Souper Bowl of

Caring Weekend, February 4th and 5th, 2017. They will join young people

in Churches and Temples across the country to collect money for those who are hungry

and hurting. In 2016, $10.5 million was collected by Souper Bowl of Caring participants for local charities.

All of the money collected is donated to a charity selected by the participant - none of the money is sent

to the Souper Bowl of Caring headquarters. Please support the youth of our church in this effort to

“love our neighbors” by dropping your $5 dollars and a canned food item in the soup pot on February 5th.

All donations will go to The Goshen Ecumenical Food Pantry.

Are you looking for a place where other Catholic women come together? To talk? To pray for each other? To encourage one another? To grow in faith and enjoy fellowship? Women from St. John's are

beginning a group called HEART OF MARY WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP. They hope to celebrate their faith by gathering together through monthly

meetings at St. John's and sharing fellowship through a closed group on Facebook. If you are interested in

attending Heart of Mary meetings and/or joining the Facebook group, please send an email to

[email protected].
