TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - SEPTEMBER 30, 2018
On behalf of the parish, I would like to extend thanks and appreciation to the Catholic Daughters, the Knights of Columbus, and other parishioners who coordinated and prepared our annual parish picnic on Labor Day. The company was enjoyable and the food plentiful, despite the heat. Thanks, too, to the Heart of Mary Prayer Group for their word in coordinating last weekend’s ministry fair; it was a successful first effort in this direction.
+ + + October is Respect Life Month, so here are some spiritual exercises by which we are invited to participate: �� The annual Life Chain is next Sunday, October 7 from 2:00 to 3:30pm along Route 211 in Middletown. Next
weekend’s bulletin will include a specific location for St. John’s. �� The same day, the rosary will be prayed in the church at 3:00pm. Our seminarian, Nolan Beahan, will lead our
participation in this national rosary rally (visit www.rosarycoasttocoast.com to learn more). Everyone is wel-come.
�� The following Saturday, October 13, there will be a rosary rally at noon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Middletown.
�� Orange County Right to Life’s annual banquet is on Sunday, November 11 at 2:00pm at Kuhl’s Highland House in Middletown. The speaker is Christina Bennett, director of communications for the Family Life In-stitute of Connecticut. Tickets are $35. For tickets, please call 386-3731.

At Cardinal Dolan’s request, we have praying the Prayer to St. Michael at each Mass for the last nine days, as a means of participating in a novena to this most effective and necessary intercessor. This prayer used to be recited after what was known as a “Low” Mass. It’s printed below for those who may wish to add it to their own devo-tions.

40 Days for Life
You’re invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life – forty days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, beginning September 26 and concluding on November 4. You’re also invited to stand and peacefully pray during a 40-day vigil in the public right-of-way near Goshen Planned Parenthood, 7 Coates Drive. St. John's Church sponsors every Friday during the campaign from 7:00am to noon. During these hours we try to have a minimum of two prayer volunteers per hour. Sign up sheets are in the back of the church if you're available to pray at Goshen Planned Parenthood, OR you can sign up to pray any day of the week by going to the website 40daysforlife.com/Goshen. This Friday, October 5, 2018 is First Friday. Confessions will be heard on Thursday, October 4 from 4:00 to 4:30pm. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin after the 6:30am Mass on Friday and continue until Saturday morning at 7:45am. Remember: the Blessed Sacrament should
