KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3

Wow!! It is hard to believe that we are in the last week of Term 1 already. Where has the Term gone? I would like

to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and support throughout this busy term. We certainly cannot do what we do without it, so thank you! On Sunday 20th March we hosted our Bunnings BBQ. The weather was perfect and the smell of a sizzling BBQ was too much for most to resist. I would like to thank the following helpers: Peter Blake, Alan Keat, Andy Ryan, Damien Hunt, Deanne Mousldale, Nadine & Henk Keyter, Robyn McCully, CJ De Silva, Paul Tricarico, Deb Abayomi, Lisa Irwin, Bob Scott, Wendy Kennedy & Tracey Opie. At this stage, a final figure of how much we raised has not been calculated as expenses need to be finalised. I estimate around $1,000 but I will confirm it in our first newsletter next term.

Our pizza lunch day is tomorrow Wednesday 23rd March. No further orders will be taken. If your child has

not placed an order then they are required to bring his/her lunch from home. Thank you to Parents Club for organizing our special lunch. Our annual swimming program at Aquamoves is from Monday 11th to Friday 15th April. During our swimming week lunch is from 11.00am to 11.45am, as we leave school at 1.00pm and return by 3.15pm. Our actual pool time is from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and parents are welcome to come down and join us at Aq-uamoves. Our swimming program is part of our curriculum and all students are expected to participate. The cost of the program is covered in our excursions levy. If you have not paid this levy then it is a cost of $55.00 per student. Currently, 19 students have not returned their permission note. Please return them tomorrow.

I am also seeking helpers (namely Dads) to help Mitchell Zito in the boys change rooms, particularly at the end of the session. If you can help please let me know. Today we did our presentations of our Age Group Champions and winning House from our House Athletics Carnival. Our 2016 Age Group Champions are as follows:

6 Year Old Girls ~ Charlee K

7/8 Year Old Girls ~ Emila

9/10 Year Old Girls ~ Leah

11 Year Old Girls ~ Edie

12/13 Year Old Girls ~ Madi

5/6 Year Old Boys ~ Joshua C

5/6 Year Old Boys ~ Cody

7 Year Old Boys ~ Gus

8 Year Old Boys ~ Axel

9 Year Old Boys ~ Hamish

10/11 Year Old Boys ~ Riley O

12/13 Year Old Boys ~ Xavier

Archer won the title of House Champions for 2016.

Congratulations Archer & to all of our Age Champions!

On Monday we participated in the East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s Athletics Carnival at McEwen Reserve. A big thank you to all of our parent helpers and a special thank you to Geoff Paris who was our Distance starter for the day. As usual our students’ behaviour was outstanding from their sportsman like attitudes, to having a go and finally staying in our designated area on breaks. Congratulations to all of our fantastic kids!

Thank you to all of our families for your help on Friday with getting your child/ren to school when our Athletics Carnival was cancelled. Thanks to Dale McCully for providing our afternoon bus service!

There are a couple of changes in Term 2 that our new families need to be aware of and old families may need a reminder. Hats are optional in terms 2 & 3; Icy poles sales will resume in Term 4; Hot lunches are on Tuesdays and

Thursdays and will begin on Thursday 21st April.

Parents Club are organising a Pie Drive to stock your freezers for our Hot Lunch program. We use a local bakery (Fiores) as our supplier. Order forms will be sent home first week of next term.

Our “Guess how many Easter treats are in the container” continues this week. The answer is between 49 & 250. $1

for 2 guesses with 3 prizes on offer - one for the actual number and then next closest guess above and one below. The winner will be announced on Thursday 24th March just before the holidays begin. Our Junior School Council will run this competition before school from 8.50am in the Gallery. There is some information about holiday programs and sporting opportunities on our

Community Billboard page that you might find useful.

Our Term 2 Working Bee date will be determined after the Department of

Justice’s Community Service Work crew visit on Saturday 16th April.

A reminder that school finishes at 2.15pm on Thursday 24th March. Our bus will run as per usual but will arrive an hour earlier. Outside School Hours Care will operate from 2.15pm until 5.00pm.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter & enjoy the holidays!

Term 2 starts on Monday 11th April
