The 2016 Attitudes to School Survey data has been released to schools. This is a survey completed by our Grade 5
& 6 students about various aspects of school including Mr Zito. Overall, we maintained outstanding results scoring above the Region & State averages across 7 areas including: Classroom Behaviour, Connectedness to Peers, Student Safety, Student Morale, School Connectedness and Teacher Empathy. Our Student Distress was also lower compared to Region and State results. We were equal to Region, State or both in Learning Confidence scoring 4.15 out of 5.00, Student Motivation scoring 4.57 out of 5.00 and Teacher Effectiveness scoring 4.39 out of 5.00. The only area we need to monitor is Stimulating Learning which is slightly down on last year with a score of 4.00. Thank you to our senior students for completing the survey. Congratulations to Mr Z who makes learning enjoyable while challenging and creating a sense of belonging in his room which is evident in this data! On Sunday 31st July our Parents’ Club catered for the CFA Captains meeting at the Kialla Hall. They raised about $550.00 for our school once expenses were taken out. A big thank you to Lisa Irwin, Deanne Moulsdale, Amy Keat. Annette Hunt, Tracy Blake, Wendy Kennedy & Bob Scott (who cooked the burgers). Events such as these not only raise some money for our school but also raises our profile in our immediate and broader communities. Recently, I have noticed that we have a number of students entering and leaving our school grounds via the gate near the Library.
This gate is for parents/guardians picking up their child/ren from Outside School Hours Care or when students are accessing the M.A.R.C. van to change their books. All students, parents and visitors to our school are expected to enter and leave our school at the front gate (zebra crossing). This is for safety reasons to ensure all visitors sign in and out of the office, students arriving late or leaving early are signed out at the office or at their classrooms and I can also monitor who is on our school grounds. During wet weather students walk through the office and library areas to get to our classrooms. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
Our Whole School Excursion to Melbourne is this Friday 5th August.
The buses will be pulling out at 7.00am sharp as we have a tight time schedule and can’t be late. We are expecting to leave Melbourne by 2.30pm to be back at school by 5.00pm or just after.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish Charlotte C & her family all the best for their adventures traveling Australia.

KIALLA UNITED FOOTY ~ Round 10 Whilst the drizzle had cleared, heavy cloud cover and
sloppy home ground conditions greeted our boys on
Saturday as the Power took on another very strong team
in Tatura Blue. Although scoring early through the boot
of Rhys Ferrier, our boys were outplayed in the first term
as Tatura, aided by a slight breeze, exerted their
authority from the beginning, holding a comfortable lead
at the change. The second quarter was much the same
and if not for inaccurate kicking, Tatura could have been
much further ahead by half time. The situation didn’t
improve in the second half with our boys at times looking
disinterested in the third term, finally showing some
attacking spirit to start the last quarter. It didn’t last
long however as Tatura continued to put us to the sword
and kick away to a large margin of victory. Desperately
trying to lift their teammates, Jacks Baldi, Hooper and
Telford and Kyle Howard all battled bravely throughout
the match but apart from a rare few flashes of team
brilliance, our boys were completely outplayed by a much
more focussed and skilled opposition.
Final scores:
Southern Power 5 5 35 to Tatura Blue 14 12 96.
Goal Scorers were Rhys Ferrier 2, Jack Hooper 2, and
Noah Smith 1.
Pizza Hut award went to Liam Mayall.
I know we are capable of so much more than we’ve shown
the last 2 weeks so let’s make this week’s trip to Nathalia
a memorable one as we push to finish the year on a high!
Go Power!
