KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3

On Monday night we held our School Council AGM & general meeting. It is with great pleasure that I announce our School Council office bearers:

Bob Scott ~ President Tina Kerr ~ Vice President Robyn McCully ~ Secretary

Alan Keat ~ Treasurer Andrew Ryan, Peter Blake (new),

Mitchell Zito & I. I would like to take this opportunity to thank retiring members Graeme Mitchell & Anthony Kerr for the contribution they have made to our school as School Councillors. Graeme & Anthony are going to be part of our Grounds & Maintenance sub-committee. I would like to welcome Peter Blake to School Council. School Council’s priorities are: to develop our 10 year plan and get our shade structure erected over our playground areas. I look forward to the busy year ahead with our priorities becoming reality.

Last Friday we hosted our Kialla Central Primary School House Athletics Day. Despite the hot

weather, we managed to get through all events by 12.30pm, beating the heat of the day. I was very impressed with the sportsmanship all of our students displayed by simply having a go and more importantly having fun! It was great to see so many parents, families and friends at this event.

Thank you to all of our helpers! Results are being calculated and presentations will be made before the end of term. There are new guidelines for schools in relation to families making voluntary contributions. In the previous years, a $60 voluntary contribution charged to each family that would appear on your family statements. Unfortunately, we can no longer do this. Families have to offer the $60 donation (which goes towards our grounds maintenance) to the school and be receipted as a separate item. If you would like to make

a donation please contact Jo or Debbie or if you are using direct debt clearly state in the description that it is a donation. Thank you to the 11 families who have already done so.

As part of our Occupational Health and Safety procedures, all visitors are required to sign in and out at the

office. This applies to contractors, student services providers, Casual Relief Teachers, visiting artists, parents / guardians who are assisting with reading or school activities and anyone else who is on our school site during school hours. Our sign in book is on the table in the entry area. This is so we know: a) who is actually on our school premises; & b) in case of an emergency and/or evacuation is required. Thank you for your assistance with this matter. Athletics We also have our big East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s (EGPSSA) Athletics Carnival at McEwen Reserve Shepparton on Friday 18th March.. I need a volunteer to transport our marquees to & from McEwen Reserve. If you can help please see me. A helpers information sheet has been attached to this newsletter. A letter outlining the day will be sent home shortly.

On Wednesday 23rd March Parents Club are hosting a Pizza Lunch for our students. Please complete the attached

form & return with payment to school by Monday 21st March. Please note: no late orders will be accepted. This is the final call for sponsors for our newsletter from Term 2 2016 to Term 1 2017. Please see attached form for details. Last Friday Bunnings Shepparton dropped off a box of plants requiring some TLC. A big thank you to the Irwins for offering to look

after the plants for us until we work out where to plant them. A reminder to parents/ guardians that if your child is absent a blue absence note explaining your child’s absence is required. If you call the school a blue slip will be written on your behalf to let your child’s classroom teacher know. An absences letter will be sent home to families this week for unapproved absences. A number of head lice cases have been reported over the last week. Please ensure you are checking your child’s hair regularly as this is the only way we will reduce the number of outbreaks. Thank you for your Co-operation.

REMINDERS JSC Crazy Hair Day Thursday 10th March Leukaemia Foundation. Term 1 Uniform order ~ by Tuesday 15th March.

Part of School Council’s role, is forward planning as to what our school may look like in 5 or 10 years time. School Council are inviting our school community to have input into their vision for our school. Including what it physically looks like, number of students attending, programs offered etc. Please return your input ASAP. Bunnings helpers for last 2 time slots ~ see attached flyer for details.

football knowledge together to try and win KCPS now famous Footy Tipping Competition or win our very famous

“Wooden Spoon” which can be really very hard to do. You do not need to know a lot about footy to do well as some-

times a little bit of knowledge in footy can be a hindrance.

You are able to join up as many members of your family as you like, such as Mums, Dads, brothers, sisters, Grand-

parents and even your friends.

The more the merrier!

To join our Footy Tipping Competition just pay $23 per person at the start of the season which is a cost of $1 a week.

This year to help us keep track of payments, the following options are available:

a). In full ~ $23 per tipster

b). $10.00 upfront & the remaining $13.00 by Round 10

At the end of Term 3 the school hosts a Footy Day where the winners are announced. New Tippers are most welcome

and all profits go to the school so sign up and join in the fun.
