Last week all of our students participated in a Responsible Pet Education Program. They learnt about: how to be a responsible pet owner by having your pet micro-chipped, registered with the Council, selecting a pet from the pound, how to approach an unfamiliar dog and to never approach a dog with a red & yellow collar as they are registered as dangerous dogs.
Our Kialla United winter sports teams seasons are drawing to a close. I would like to take this opportunity to thank
all of the parents who volunteered to coach, team manage, score, umpire and generally help. These extra opportunities for our students simply could not take place without your assistance. A big thank you to all of our students for demonstrating good sportsmanship on and off the field or court. I would also like to thank Wes Teague (Principal at Kialla West) for organising our Saturday teams. On Friday 2nd September there will be no Outside School Hours Care. Please make alternative arrangements. Heather & Bruce’s son David is getting married so Heather is unavailable for OSHC. We wish David & Cassie all the best for their big day. We look forward to seeing some photos!
Camp notes for our Grades 3 & 4 (Billabong Ranch) as well as our Grades 5 & 6 (Melbourne) were sent
home on Friday. Further information for our Billabong Ranch camp will be sent home later this term as we go the first week back of Term 4. Our Melbourne Camp final details will be sent home next term. If you have any questions about either camp please come and see me.
I apologize to all of our students who expressed interest in attending Somers Camp this year. I overlooked the registration date and we have missed out on getting any places for this year. Sorry!
CAUTION … There is a magpie out the front of our school that is only swooping cyclists, at this point in time. Please take care.
On behalf of Kialla Central Primary School, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Shepherd
family to our school. Lachlan (Grade 3) and Rory (Grade 4) started with us today. I know the boys and their family will feel part of our school community in no time.

REMINDERS Camp notes & payment Grades 3 & 4 ~ due 9th September Grades 5 & 6 ~ due 21st October Lisa Irwin is going to be replacing Jo during her Long Service Leave. She will be here Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair has arrived and is setup in the Library. Students will have the opportunity to visit and purchase from the Fair at the
following times: Before school from 8.30am to 8.50am or
after school from 3.15pm to 3.45pm. Cash is the preferred method of payment. Our Book Fair finishes Friday morning on the 26th August as it needs to be packed up ready to be returned.
On Monday 29th August Parents’ Club are hosting “Time Out For The Girls” indoor market for our community. They have invited a number of local businesses to be part of this event. Narelle Pell and Kathy Fuller are going to briefly share their recent adventure of completing 7 Marathons, across 7 States in 7 days as a fundraiser for Bravehearts. You can support this event by coming along with a friend or two to ensure it’s success and enjoy some you time! See attached flyer for further details & the RSVP slip to book your place!

When we actually went into the Jurassic World exhibition, we saw some
awesome robot dinosaurs that looked so real. Leah
We went to the IMAX theatre. The dinosaurs looked like they were
coming out of the screen. It was AWESOME! Hamish
We saw a Triceratops, T-rex and a Brachiosaurus. I has a great excursion.
My favourite part was the IMAX. Pelumi
Lastly, we went to Lygon Street for the pizza. When I first ate it was so
so nice that I wanted more. I had a fantastic day because I learnt more
about dinosaurs. Callea
KIALLA UNITED FOOTY ~ Round 13 Wintery conditions returned on Saturday for the final
game of the year as Southern Power took on Central
Black in a very entertaining match at the Kialla West Rec
Reserve. In what was generally regarded as the team’s
best overall performance of the year our boys were, in a
word, brilliant! The Power attacked from the start but
despite several shots at goal, couldn’t convert and went
into the first change 4 points down. The second quarter
was a very entertaining one with great free-flowing footy
played by both teams, our boys were able to edge ahead
through the efforts of Jack Hooper and Jack Baldi (who
were both just masterful the entire game), Tom Whyte
and Noah Smith who were proving to be too elusive for
the Central opponents. The third term saw the Power
really start to dominate as our boys surged forward
repeatedly, rebounding off the half back line where Jack
Telford was putting in a blinder ably supported by
Xavier Scott, Ed Telford and Kyle Howard. The last
quarter saw our boys really put the icing on the cake with
a dominant 15 minutes of disciplined, hard running,
confident football to put the result beyond doubt. The
defensive pressure, tackling, shepherding, running,
supportive team play shown by all our boys was simply
outstanding on a day when our team would not be denied
another victory. Great support roles from Callum and
Rhys Ferrier, Riley and Liam Krake, Luke Gaskett, Liam
Mayall and Euan Morrissey who all contributed to an
awesome team effort. The day’s aim was to finish the
year on a high and I think everyone would agree, mission
accomplished!
Final scores:
Southern Power 11 16 89 to Central Black 6 3 39.
Goal Scorers were Jack Baldi 4, Noah Smith 4, Jack
Hooper 2 and Tom Whyte 1.
Pizza Hut award: Luke Gaskett.
Sportsman’s Warehouse award: Tom Whyte.
And so another season comes to a close. Thank you to
everyone who has contributed throughout the year and
made it such an enjoyable and memorable season.
Bring on 2017! Go Power!
U/6 SOCCER REPORT ~ LAST WEEK
Last Saturday saw the Titans narrowly defeated in a
close and thrilling game against Grahamvale Suns. Team
captain, Archie Kelly played a great game and scored an
exciting goal. Cody Tricarico, once again showed off his
great defensive skills and some impressive backwards
kicking, narrowly missing scoring a goal twice. Lincoln
Pell scored two goals, thrilling as always and played an
impressive game. Jai Cauchi also scored a goal and
played another terrific game. Tom Harrington and
Xander Telford, both played a great game, showing great
team work and had lots of fun on the day.
Well done boys, one more fun filled game to go….
Score: TITANS 4 Grahamvale Suns 5
Players of the week: Cody Tricarico & Lincoln Pell

When looking at the tipping sheets this week I thought we had a new
tipper when I saw a tipping sheet with the code name “Red Legs” on
it. I think “My Heart Beats True” had stepped back into the 2015
tipping season.
It is getting to the exciting end of the footy season especially if your
team is in the final eight. With only 1 more round to be played which
teams will be playing in the finals and who will win the Kialla
