Wow! What a busy first term we have had. We have: held our 2015 student leaders elections, hosted our KCPS House Athletics, had a dress up day “What do you want to be?”, had a visit and cricket clinic from Alex Keath, had an excursion to Frankston to see the International Sand Sculptures, hosted our Information Night and Parent / Teacher interviews (requested by the teachers), held our School Council and Parents Club elections, had a Bunnings BBQ as a fundraiser, held our working bee, featured in the Shepp News, participated in the East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s Athletics Carnival, written our new strategic plan, held a Curriculum Day (maths) and we are finishing with a pizza lunch and finding out who the winner is of our Guess the number of Easter items competition! Yes I think it is fair to say it has been a big term! Today we did our presentations of our Age Group Champions and winning House from our House Athletics Carnival. Our 2015 Age Group Champions are as follows:

6/7 Year Old Girls ~ Tayah 8/9 Year Old Girls ~ Charlotte 9/10 Year Old Girls ~ Elyse 11 Year Old Girls ~ Kasey

12/13 Year Old Girls ~ Molly

5/6 Year Old Boys ~ Gus 7 Year Old Boys ~ Preston

8/9 Year Old Boys ~ Hamish 9/10 Year Old Boys ~ Riley 11 Year Old Boys ~ Lachie

12/13 Year Old Boys ~ Noah Fairmaid won the title of House Champions for 2015. Congratulations Fairmaid & to all of our Age

On Friday we had our excursion to the Friends, Foes and Superheroes Sand Sculptures. Our students toured the displays, tried their own hand at sculpting, did some coloured sand art and finally made a sand bottle (which are on display at school). It was a long day but a very enjoyable one. Thank you to our staff and Heather who joined us for this excursion. On Monday 23rd March we participated in the EGPSSA’s Athletics Carnival at McEwen Reserve. Our students all tried their best and enjoyed the day. Some of our students

have now qualified to participate in the Division Athletics Carnival in October. Kate Nichols will confirm these students and the events they have qualified for. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parent helpers, our staff and our supporters. We simply cannot participate in such events without your support. A special thanks to Alan Keat who got out marquees to and from McEwen Reserve.

PROUD PRINCIPAL MOMENT Kialla Central Primary School students and staff have been in the public eye on Friday (excursion) and Monday (Aths Day). I have received lots of positive comments about how well behaved our students are. One was the ex Principal of Wanganui Park Secondary College. Morris Sleep, who happened to be at the Wallen Service Centre when we were there on our way home on Friday. He went out of his way to come and tell me how well behaved our kids are and your school should be congratulated! Lots of our parents made comments after the EGPSSA’s Aths Day. I am extremely proud of our students.. Even our students noticed and made comments about how kids from other schools behave. KCPS IS a very unique school!!! On Monday 16th March we held our Annual AGM for School Council. It is with great pleasure I announce your 2015 School Council:

President ~ Bob Scott Vice President ~ Tina Kerr Treasurer ~ Robyn McCully Secretary ~ Mitchell Zito

Executive Officer ~ Debbie Humphries General Committee: Graeme Mitchell, Anthony Kerr, Andrew Ryan, Joanne

    Robertson and Alan Keat.

With a new Strategic Plan, we are entering a very exciting time of change and refinement at KCPS which School Council play an important role. I look forward to working with you on our future projects.

Thank you to our families who attended or made alternative arrangements for our Parent / Teacher interviews for our

Foundation students, students who require an Individual Learning Plan and students who have Student Support Groups. I trust you found this opportunity beneficial. Finally, I would like to thank everyone for all their help throughout the term to ensure maximum learning opportunities are provided for our students. I would like to wish you a happy Easter and a safe holiday break. I will see you all refreshed and ready to go on Monday 13th April.

Auskick The Kialla Auskick registrations are now open. The cost of Auskick will be $90 per participant. The registration and payment process takes place online and everyone who wishes to be involved needs to complete the registration. In the past we have had a limit of 50 participants, this may vary depending on the number of parents willing to coach and assist. A few people have registered with Auskick when is was set for $75. The additional $15 is to cover the cost of equipment, medallions and the presentation night. Wes Teague will contact the parents who owe the $15. The Auskick start up meeting was held last night. Unfortunately we only had two parents attend this meeting. We will need a greater level of support to ensure that this program will run. If any parents are willing to be coaches please contact me and I will let Wes Teague know. • K.C.P.S. 2015 Footy Tipping Competition

    Talking Footy with Bomber 10

It is now only 3 days to the start of the 2015 AFL season. For those of you who have not

joined in The K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition it is not too late to do so.

Thank you to those who have already joined the KCPS 2015 Footy Tipping Competition.

I look forward to you all having a good season and some fun along the way. Remember

that this is a Fundraiser for K.C.P.S.

Due to the late start of the AFL for this season the first three rounds will occur during

the school holidays and this will make it difficult for all of us to do our tipping.

Just remember that it will be the same for us all.

Attached to this newsletter are your footy tipping sheets for the first three rounds, for

those tippers who have already replied, which will cover the school holidays. Please

make sure your tips are in by 9am Friday 27th March. Tipping sheets are available from

    the office.

    “Good tipping everyone”

  • K.C.P.S. 2015 Footy Tipping Competition

The Important Stuff HOW TO ENTER

    1. Obtain the draw for the week, there will be one attached to the newsletter or if you need

more than one let Mrs. Opie know – she’s in charge of extras.

    2. Circle who you think will win

    3. Write your margin winning score on your sheet near the first game of the round.

    4. Think of a code name if you wish.

    5. The first time you use a code name please put your name on the sheet as well.

    6. Return your entry (with winners marked) to the school with money securely attached to your

entry (you can use the school’s payment envelopes for this).

    THE RULES

    1. Every entry must have a name on it. Don’t forget you can use ‘code’ names but make sure

that Bomber 10 or Mrs. Opie knows who you are!

    2. Entries must be received at the school by the date and time specified on the draw for each

week and must be paid for.

    3. Cost is $1.00 per week or you may like to pay for the entire season in advance which will be

$23.00 as there are now 23 rounds per season.

    4. Winnings each week are split between those tipsters who pick 9 winners (draws are exclud-

ed). If nobody picks 9 winners then the prize pool will jackpot to the next week.

    5. The jackpot cannot be claimed on a draw and nobody will receive points for the draw unless

    you specifically pick it.

    6. The prize pool will be determined by the number of entries received each week. The prize

pool is determined on a 50%/40%/10% split - 50% of the money goes to the school -40% to

those who tip all 9 winners and 10% for the end of season prizes. At the end of the season,

the 10% will be distributed as follows: the person who picks most winners for the season re-

ceives 50% of the prize pool. Second will receive 30%, third will receive 15%. 5% will go to-

wards getting the wooden spoon trophy engraved. The more people that enter, the larger the

    return.

    7. If you have paid in advance but forget to put your tips in for that week, you will be given the

away teams, but if all away teams win you will not be entitled to the jackpot.

    8. In the event of a drawn game you will not receive a point unless you pick a draw

    9. Where there are rounds of only 6 games you must tip all 6 games correctly in 2 consecutive

weeks to be eligible to collect the jackpot.

    10. Results of each week and the balance of the prize pool will be published weekly in the

    newsletter.

    11. Your weekly margin which you receive for each round is the distance between your selected

margin and the actual margin for the game. For example, if you pick the Bombers to beat

the Magpies by 8 points and the Bombers win by 5 points your weekly margin will be 3.

If the Bombers were to lose by 5 points, your predicted margin is added to the actual margin

so your margin would be 8 plus 5, or 13. Each round your weekly margin is added together to

get you total margin score. A low margin score is better than a high one.

Remember, there are no losers in our competition

Everyone is a winner … and not just for their tipping ability!!
