The Bell
Mission Statement
We, the people of St. Mary Parish because
of our baptismal
promises and compelled by our Catholic
identity, seek to be an example of
God’s presence by worship,
education, and service to our neighbors with sensitivity to those most in
need of God’s love.
February 8, 2015 Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
As you know, work on the Oak Room has been going on for the past few months. The rains that took the Oak Room out of commission were at the end of Summer and here we are over half way through Winter. Any construction project does take time and patience is a necessity. Thank you to all who have been so patient in dealing with the inconvenience of trying to find another meeting place which is difficult when the Oak Room is the one and only large meeting room for the parish.
Below is a summary of the expenses involved in this whole unplanned project.
Covered by Insurance
Clean up from the flooding: $6,912 Removal of dry wall and mold remediation: $23,807 New dry wall, wood work, and painting: $59,253
Total Covered by Insurance: $89,972
Covered by Parish
Insurance deductible: $2,000 Fixing foundation cracks: $1,960 Electrical Work for Ejector Pumps: $2,100 Ejector Pumps and Installation: $24,785 Village Permit: $723
Total Covered by Parish: $31,568
Total Cost: $121,540 *We still need to purchase and install a Natural Gas Generator that will operate in case of a power failure. This will be an additional expense for the parish.
The costs covered by the parish were paid for from our parish savings and hopefully we will pay that amount back through the Special Monthly Envelope for the Building Improvement Fund.
Previously, the money that had been collected since this Building Improvement Fund Special Collection began was $28,504. This amount covered the cost of the rectory roof. Now we will pay back the expenses for the Oak Room Repairs. Thank you very much for your generosity in helping to keep our Parish buildings in good shape as well as our ability to cover an emergency and unplanned expenses.

Church of Baptism - If you have ever prepared for a sacrament in your parish, and it is not the parish in which you were baptized, you have been asked to provide a baptismal certificate from your church of baptism. And it must be a recent one. The reason for this is that all major sacramental events are recorded at that church. It provides a centralized source to obtain an individual’s sacramental history. That is where one’s first Holy Communion, Confirmation, marriage, or annulment will be recorded. When you request a recent baptismal certificate, all this information is included. That way, the parish in which you wish to receive a sacrament can verify that you have whatever is necessary to proceed.
Mark your calendar and get your tickets early for
