Are you or someone you know interested in becoming Catholic? Are you missing some of your sacraments of initiation (Confirmation & Eucha-rist (First Communion))? Have you joined us from a different religious background and are interested in learningmore about the Catholic Church?

We invite you to join us for our weekly sessions to learn how God may be calling you on your jour-ney of faith. These gatherings are for “inquirers” and are open to everyone who is interested in learning more about the richness of our Catholic faith and tradition. RCIA sessions are held on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. We look forward to meeting you there. For more information go to our website www.sjvhh.org. If you are interested or want more information please call the RCIA Office at (626) 330-2269, Ext. 230 or via email: [email protected].

BOOK OF THE SICK AND PRAYERS OF GRATITUDE SHRINES

If you would like to have the name(s) of someone who is ill, please go on our website and fill out the form.

If you would like to pray for a special occasion or just a general prayer of gratitude, this can also be done on our website -- sjvhh.org.

While watching Mass on line at 6:30 am during the week and at 8 & 10 am on Sun-day, and it is time for the distribution of the Eucharist (Communion), you may say the

following Prayer of Spiritual Communion:

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen

Amen

Jubilee Year - Forward in Mission

Timeline

October 4-8 - Respect Life Week October 15 & 16 - Missionary Discipleship Pathway: Truth of the Cross begins (series of evangelizing experiences for anyone who is curious about Jesus or de-sires to deepen their relationship with him) November 17 - Reimagine Parish Life, part 2 of 4 (series for pastors and parish leaders to explore a renewed image of parish life for a thriving future) December 5 - Our Lady of Guadalupe Procession and Mass December 19 - Mass of Thanksgiving at Mission Basilica San

Buenaventura at 5:00 pm Go on Pilgrimage in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles

Step into Christ, Step out to Mission ~ Holy Doors of Mission

During the Jubilee Year, a plenary indulgence will be granted to all the faithful who meet the usual conditions and visit any of the pilgrimage sites within the Archdiocese to spend some time there at least to pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be with the intention of uniting themselves with the missionary spirit of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Star of the New Evangelization, and St. Junípero Serra, founder of Mission San Gabriel Arcángel. A Holy Door represents Jesus Christ, who states: “I am the door” (John 10:1). Christ is the entry to new life. To cross the threshold of the Holy Door is to step into Christ, and to pass through the doors of the Church into the world is to step into mission. The Lord we encounter in the Church, above all in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, sends us forth from there to be missionaries of the Gospel.

FEAST OF FAITH

Doxology and Amen “Doxology” comes from a Greek word meaning “words of praise.” The Eucharistic Prayer ends with a doxology addressed to the triune God: “Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever.” It is an exclamation of praise, honor, and glory to God, reminding us that we receive everything from God through the Son, in the power of the Spirit. At the consecration, the priest held up the host and then the chalice for us to see and adore. During the doxology, the host and chalice are held up again, but this time they are held up and offered to God the Father. With the doxology, the Eucharistic Prayer ends, as it began, with words of praise addressed to the Father: truly, it is right and just to give God praise, and we assent to this in our whole-hearted acclamation, “Amen.” Never was more meaning packed into so short a word. This “Amen,” some-times and fittingly called “the great Amen,” is our response to the entire Eucharistic Prayer. —Corinna Laughlin, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
