Why should you come to Egypt? It was and it will always be exciting to come to Egypt as one of the most remarkable historical and cultural countries. Egyptian monuments from different eras such as pyramids, temples, citadels and so on. Beautiful beaches in the summer (we have the Mediterranean sea and the Red sea) which is a destination for tourists. Dealing with the welcoming kind Egyptians ,and impacting the Egyptian community which is the a environment to show remarkable impact.

AIESEC in Egypt is currently having 17 entities across the country. In the past year. AIESEC in Egypt has been growing and h as managed to host more than 1400 exchange participants from more than 70 different countries from all around the world . Our impact and reach has been expanding across Egypt inch by inch and our project s a re fully running in different cities. We provide exchange participants from around the world with the opportunity to participate in diverse projects and to be part of impacting Egypt. In the next year. we are striving to grow. not just in the number of experiences we do but also in the kind of experiences we provide. All because we aspire to deliver unique impact on our community and our interns.

Why should you come to Egypt with AIESEC Damietta? • AIESEC Damietta was founded in 2012. • It was the 1st founded LC outside of Cairo & Alexandria. • AIESEC Damietta got iGCDP excellence award for winter peak 15/16. • AIESEC Damietta achieved 400% of growth in 2015 as one of the fastest growing

entities. • Through our projects we impacted +1000 person in Damietta city in the last year. • AIESEC Damietta's projects is aligned with UN sustainable development goals. • AIESEC Damietta runs AIESEC in Egypt national projects. • AIESEC Damietta implements all the standards arranging with sending entities. • AIESEC Damietta collaborates with some of the biggest organizations in Damietta

and Egypt. • AIESEC Damietta was recognized in a lot of social events for the exerted effort in

developing the community, one of the recognitions was meeting the British counselor in Egypt.

• You’ll have the chance to move easily between 5 cities Damietta, New Damietta, Ras-Elbar, Portsaid and port foaad (Asia), as AIESEC Damietta has a branch in Portsaid.

Damietta is a governorate in Egypt which is located in the north coast of Egypt between the Nile river and the Mediterranean sea and considered to be the gate to the Mediterranean coast, it’s also Known as Dumyat and it’s pharaonic name.

What’s amazing about Damietta? Damietta citizens are very active, Damietta has 0% unemployment. You can see the different kinds of environment here; the sea, the desert and the cultivated lands, it also has a really nice weather and nice people.

The 3 main cities in Damietta are Damietta (the capital), Ras El-bar and New Damietta. The distance between each city and the other is just 20 minutes.

The project is about supporting Egypt in achieving Quality Education, which is one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goal #4). Quality education is a must to ensure a promising and secure future for Egyptians. Through your efforts, we aim to enhance the quality of the education in Egypt and increase the number of Egyptians who have relevant skills for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.

Enlighten – Teaching English in Egypt • You will teach basic English to kids or youth, and measure their performance and improvement. • You will engage with the participants and work to enhance their understanding of the world

around them, through different workshops, activities and competitions. • You will deliver sessions about various relevant topics, such as living values. • You will deliver a presentation about your country to help the participants get exposed to new

cultures and ideas. • You will work to ensure the development of the participants through conducting regular tests. • You will participate in events organized by the organization and by AIESEC. • You will be required to submit a brief report outlining your experience at the end of your

internship.

• You will teach Art (painting - drawing - art crafts) to kids or youth, and measure their performance and improvement.

new cultures and ideas. • You will participate in events organized by the organization and by AIESEC. • You will be required to submit a brief report outlining your experience at the end of your

internship.

This project is about supporting Egypt in achieving Decent Work and Economic Growth, which is one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goal #8). Tourism is a key contributor to Egypt’s economy due to the country’s rich culture and history, as well as diverse attractive sites and cities. Through your efforts, we aim to promote Egypt’s local culture and improve its tourism rates over the next years.

Explore - Activating Tourism Opportunity in Egypt

• You will visit Egypt’s attractive touristic sites and cities. • You will write blogs, take photos, shoot videos & manage our social media campaigns to

showcase Egypt to the whole world. • You will assist in creating a social media buzz on different social media channels through the

following hashtags (#AIESECinEgypt and #ExploreEgypt) and through our blog. • You will participate in events organized by AIESEC. • You will be required to submit a brief report outlining your experience at the end of your

internship.

The project is about supporting Egypt in achieving Decent work & Economic growth , which is one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goal #8). AMAL, which stands for hope, is a project that aims to teach youth the basics of entrepreneurship, and the steps of building their own start-ups. Interns from various countries will prepare sessions and different kinds of games and workshops reflecting the topics that will be discussed.

AMAL – Entrepreneurship in Egypt • First week you will get to know the Egyptian culture, the city, orientation sessions also know each

other and attend learning seminars prepared by our AIESEC & partners. • Second week is the opening ceremony. you give sessions to help the attendees understand the

meaning of entrepreneurship, and the market research + workshops. • Third week, the main thing is to deliver the idea of project creativity, the startup team selection

and team management + workshops. • Fourth week, Sessions should focus on project finance, marketing and business development +

workshops. • Fifth week, to sum up all the sessions and make a start-up project. • Sixth week the attendees will be divided to groups, you'll make a competition for best start-up

business.

The project is about supporting Egypt in achieving Sustainable cities and communities, which is one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goal #11). Sustainable cities and communities is a must to ensure a promising and secure future for Egyptians. You'll participate in making cities safe through safe architecture, deliver your experience to Egyptian architects, and raise awareness about sustainable building.

Notable landmarks in Damietta • The Old Bridge Elkobri Elqadeem, dating to the early 1900s , which the

government turned it now into a museum.

• Ras Elbar and New Damietta Shores.

• Souk Al-Hesba, the old town centre, dating to the Abbasi rule era.

• Al-Bahr Mosque, one of the famous mosques in Damietta,

Built in 1609 A.D. in Ottoman time.

• The Holy Virgin's Church, Sorour square, was build in 1745.

• Amr ibn El-Aas Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Egypt and Africa which is built in 642 A.D. and it was the second mosque ever built in Egypt.

Security in Egypt and political situation -Egypt will always be a safe country, the political situation only affects Egyptians.

Legality of your stay in Egypt

-AIESEC Egypt is registered as an NGO for

the number 5260 for year 2003.

-You took a tourist Visa Yet you are LEGAL

to stay here and renew the visa.

-Just for the bureaucracy you always say that

you are here for tourism for these authorities.

-The police and the national security knows

about AIESEC and in case of any problems

with the Law you should contact immediately

your Local Committee.

About Egypt

Politics: Egypt is a republic, the political system of which is democratic based on

citizenship and relying on each of legislative , executive and judicial branches, additionally to the press, political parties, local administrations and civil society institutions .

Religion: Islam is the official religion of the Arab Republic of Egypt . Most non-Muslims

in Egypt are Christians, the majority of whom belong to the Coptic orthodox church.

Language : Egypt’s official language is Arabic, but foreign languages, such as English,

French are taught in school , and English, French, German, Italian and Spanish are widely spoken in educated circles.

By international standards Egypt is still fairly cheap, one can pay 5 to 10 pounds for break fast .

Egypt has delicious popular food such as koshary , fool and taamiia and mahshy as well as sea food .

Damietta is famous for special kinds of sweets that you can’t find anywhere else in with same taste such as: Meshabek, Sweet feter besides the other eastern and western sweets.

You can find also some special types of the Damiettan food such as: Salty feter, Sayadia fish, Damiettan grilled duck beside renga and feseikh.

Weather The prevailing climate is desert and semi-desert, however, the Mediterranean climate prevails on the northern coasts. The temperature average in Lower Egypt is 20°C in winter during day and 10°C at night, and in summer it reaches 35°C during the day and 23°C at night.

Clothing: It is important to be aware of all these major existing differences between Egypt and the any other country to make your stay in Egypt a more pleasant and welcoming one. Egyptians are conservative people , one shouldn’t wear too short clothing in Egypt , Whether you are a man or woman, it is important to make a good impression in Egypt by dressing properly as a way to show respect. However, this doesn’t mean that you are expected to dress exactly like the Egyptian people.
