Knock Pilgrimage - 2018 The Annual SMA pilgrimage to Knock is on Saturday 26 th May Tickets €25 are now available to purchase in the Parish Office. (Bus departs from bus stop outside Cork University Hospital at 6.15 am) The S.M.A. National Novena in honour of Our Lady will begin Friday 18th May at the African Missions Church, Blackrock Road, Cork and will close with our Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine on Saturday 26th May. The Procession will leave the North Cathedral at 4 pm and arrive in Daunt Square at 4.45 pm approx., This change of time is due to the Cork City marathon taking place in the city on the same day. DAY OF PRAYER IN SUPPORT OF HUMAN LIFE. In ancipaon of the Referendum on Fri 25 th the parish is hosng a Day of Prayer on Wed 23 rd from 8am to 10pm. Its our way of acknowledging the fact that Human Life is an issue we are concerned about as a community. The strength of our concern will be reflected in the number of people who can com- mit themselves by signing the register in the Church. Just as every vote makes a difference, your personal prayer in this cause is also important. THE STARFISH STORY. A man was walking along a deserted beach at sunset. As he walked he could see a young boy in the distance and as he drew nearer he noced that the boy kept bending down, picking something up and throwing it into the water. Time and again he kept hurling things into the ocean. As the man approached even closer, he was able to see that the boy was picking up starfish that had been washed up on the beach and, one at a me he was throwing them back into the water. When the man asked the boy what he was doing, the boy replied, I am throwing these washed-up starfish back into the ocean, or else they will die through lack of oxygen. But’, said the man, you cant possibly save them all, there are thousands on the beach, and this must be happening on hundreds of beaches along the coast. You cant possibly make a difference.The boy smiled, bent down, and picked up another starfish, and as he threw it back into the sea, he replied: “Makes a difference to that one.Another story take form the book “More seeds in the wind. 5 in the Mass Office. This is a deserving charity and we thank you for your support. Confirmation and First Communion presents Parents, Grand Parents and friends of children receiving the sac- raments at this time are asked to consider the selection of books on the bible stories and prayers which might be an appropriate present for these children. They are available in the Mass Office. PLEASE TAKE NOTE Unfortunately the Coffee Bar will be closed next Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th May.
