Why do we need them? Just like in all of life,

there are ways you should respond when a certain situation pops up.

Our classroom is no different, I have an expectation that together we can keep our classroom in a state that is conducive to our learning processes

Procedures vs. Rules

You might be wondering exactly what the difference is between the two?

Rules: Provide a consistent moral framework that our class will operate from!– Ex: how to treat your fellow humans :)

Procedures: Deal with day to day happenings – Ex: tardy, pencil sharpening, etc.

Our Rules 1. Encourage, encourage,

encourage!– Respect your peers, don’t belittle.

Biology is much easier when you have a team that believes in you cheering you on!

2. Aim high, land high– Set relevant, inspiring and lofty goals.

If you do, you will naturally rise to the challenge

3. Nourish your body and brain– Bring healthy snacks and water with

you, food enhances learning. Healthy snacks only, please!

When You Are Tardy... Steps: Sign in at the door, place name,

date and reason on the sheet. Drop your pass (if you have one) in

the bucket, if it’s in your planner, please write “planner” on the sign in sheet

All tardies are tabulated at the end of the day.

Reporting Attendance Attendance is CRITICAL for

your success in the IB program!

Reported to Miss Fischer once ALL family members are physically present in class

Page 8: “Procedures build a happy, healthy classroom”

Restrooms... Only allowed in extreme

emergencies. Should you need to go, you must

wait for a break in activity to get permission.

Keep in mind, you have plenty of time between classes to accomplish everything you need to, IF you use your time wisely.

You could miss something important should you need to leave our room.

Sharpening Your Pencil

Done before the bell rings.

Do not ask to do it after that time unless you have an emergency– ex: you break

your lead and do not have a backup pencil.

You Get Hungry... Food not permitted on lab days

(safety concern) On lecture days you may bring a

healthy snack & bottled water . – healthy snacks include nuts, fruits,

protein bars. NOT candy bars or other sugar laden items, fruit juice is also a no.)

Food privilege will continue as long as there is no mess. (You can be responsible and enjoy this privilege year round!)

Interacting With the Animals...

Please respect the animals just as you respect any other member of our classroom.

1. Respect their need for space, if they don’t want to be picked up or petted, come back and try again later.

2. Feed only if Miss Fischer gives you permission

3. Visit during free time, not during instructional time.
