The recent dispute regarding the occupationof farming land raised the concern of one ofthe local farmers’ associations, theWatervalsrivier Vallei Boerevereniging. The land which was previous clearly markedTswelopele Irrigation Scheme, about 2kmoutside Burgersfort, is now littered with smallshacks, many of them unoccupied.According to various people in the area, theshacks only represent a tentative claim tothe area. Many of the people who errectedthose shacks allegedly have their ownhomes in Mashifane Park or Praktiseer andwould sign lease contracts for the shacks.

“There are many stories, but the fact of thematter is that amidst serious pressure toclaim farming land in white ownership, thegovernment is losing their own land thatcould have been productive farming areas. The government’s hands are also tiedbecause of their own legislation”.The Association asks for further investigationinto this issue as sensitive matters such asthis are often left to just be forgotten. The photograph below shows the area inquestion with many small shacks. This waspreviously farming ground that was notuntilised.

Do you have Rugby World Cup fever?

Mr Wilson Ngobeni said: “Yes, I’ll followthe World Cup. They can win on Sunday. The guys are motivated. This is a differentstage, they need to gear up and perform. They are also representing Africa, notonly South Africa, so they’ve got twocaps”.

Mr Jackson Riba said: “I’ll listen to theradio to keep up with what is happening atthe World Cup. Can they win on Sunday?Maybe. I think so”.

Dis amper dieselfdespan as die vorige World Cup.

Mr Thamie Mthabisa and Mr Motseki Mokoena said: “On the basis that they are the defending champions theywill definitely beat Wales. We will be following the World Cup. Comments about the team are just individualspeculation. In the past they’ve made it, and the Springboks can do it again. Let’s rally behind them, wear ourjerseys on Friday and have some Madiba spirit. They can do it for him. They have the confidence coming withnational pride and previous experience at the World Cup. They will bring the trophy home. For those whowere worried about Habana being match fit, there are enough other players to make up the team and support”.

DieSpringbokke sal Sondag teen Wallis wen”.

By hom is Roos-Marie van Staden.

Mnr Jacques Hansen sê: “DieSpringbokke sal Wallis maklik wen.

Mnr. Francois Labuschagne sê: “Dis dieregte kaptein. Hulle moet net die regtekombinasies kies. Die Springbokke kandefinitief Wallis wen. Ek sal die heleWêreldbeker volg”.

Mr Crosby Masilela said: “They will betough when they start on Sunday. Nothingis impossible. Let’s hope they win. Ja, I’llfollow the World Cup”.

Mr Caplet Rikhotso said: “Ja, they willwin. We are proud of them. We wish themgood luck. It is the right team. Once thecoach chooses, it is the right team”.

Links: Mnr JB Willers sê: “Nee, wat. Onsmoet hulle ‘n kans gee. Ek sal dieWêreldbeker volg. Ek dink hulle kanWallis wen”.

Regs: Me.
