1. US Airfare Trend Report Week of March 16, 2015 2. FLYR Inc. fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research Data cohort: Flights departing March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 Observation period: 7 days ending March 14, 2015 Notes United Airlines appears to have implemented a systematic $0.40 change across all flights in the US, on a standalone basis. The extent of JetBlues price hikes have abated somewhat, but still more extensive than peers. 3. FLYR Inc. fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research Data cohort: Flights departing March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 Observation period: 7 days ending March 14, 2015 Notes The massive extent of the changes at United means that the median hike is substantially $0 (when rounding $0.40 to the nearest whole dollar) Delta and American/US continued to see some pretty similar price volatility profiles. 4. FLYR Inc. fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research Data cohort: Flights departing March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 Observation period: 7 days ending March 14, 2015 Notes In terms of the top fare hikes, it is not surprising to see United-heavy routes be represented. San Francisco and Houston are both hubs for UA. 5. FLYR Inc. fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research Data cohort: Flights departing March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 Observation period: 7 days ending March 14, 2015 Notes Fare drops were on the sparse side this past week, with the top 10 locations with greatest % of drops keeping around the 20% range. 6. FLYR Inc. fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research Data cohort: Flights departing March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 Observation period: 7 days ending March 14, 2015 Notes We see the $100 price change interval at work in the chart on the left. When airlines raise or drop the fare on a certain flight, it is usually by a fairly round number. 7. FLYR Inc. fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research Data cohort: Flights departing March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 Observation period: 7 days ending March 14, 2015 Except for some usual suspects here, fares didnt appear to move much on a dollar basis. 8. FLYR Inc. fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research Data cohort: Flights departing March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 Observation period: 7 days ending March 14, 2015 Notes You can see the impact of some UA-heavy routes here, such as the ORD-SFO and ORD-LAX flights, both with a median increase of (almost) zero. So far, weve only noticed the 40 cent markup on United flights. One advantage is that most itineraries should be priced at a rounder number, like $XXX.50 or $XXX.00.
