• 60-million gallon equalization basin is required under consent decree.• Still discussing smaller basin with EPA.

• Designed to reduce need to discharge raw sewage into the Maumee River during heavy rains.

• Will hold wastewater at “peak” times when flow of waste exceeds plant’s capacity.

• When the rain lets up, wastewater in the basin sent to plant for treatment.

• Basin basically a large holding facility• 400,000 square feet (about the size 7

football fields).• Under EPA agreement, design of the

equalization basin must be completed by December of 2004.

• Construction would not start until spring 2005.

• Saves $8-10 million

• Every effort will be made to design the construction to reduce the impact on the course and community.

• Committed to enhancements for the remaining 9-hole course.

• Pursuing Port Authority land for possible new holes.

• Goes through ballasted flocculation first• Solids removed

• Fairly dilute to begin with – mostly storm water

• “First flush” goes to plant
