What are Starfish?

Starfish or sea stars live in the sea

They have 5 or sometimes more arms

They are perfectly symmetical

What do they look like?

Starfish can be different types of colors like red, orange, pink or yellow some can also be seen in grey,blue,green or purple.

Starfish are between eight to 50 centimeters long.

Some of them usually have 5 arms although some have 44 arms, some grow back their arms that they lost.

Many of them have skinny bodies and their mouth under their bodies.

There skin are rough and leathery some of them are spiky.

There are many kinds of starfish. Some of them are the goosefoot, burrowing starfish and cushion star.

Most starfish are less than eight inches across, but a few kinds can be as big as a small car!

How do they move?

Starfish cannot swim. They crawl and climb.

Starfish live all over the world

What do they eat?

Sea stars love to eat oysters.

They just wrap their arms around the oyster shell and, using the suction power of their feet, pull at the shell until it opens.

Did you know???? Sea stars have no brains and no blood. Their nervous system is spread through their arms and their “blood” is actually filtered sea water.
