    I Caribbean Workshop

    for Data Collectors of

    Market Information

    Systems (MIS)

    Santo Domingo

    Dominican Republic

The I Caribbean Workshop for Data Collectors of Market Information Systems (MIS)

follows from efforts initiated in 2008 between the Market Information Organization of

the Americas (MIOA) and CARIFORUM states who are members of the MIOA. IICA,

through its project Improving the Agribusiness Competitiveness and Market

Transparency in the CARIFOUM Region continued actions in assessing MIS in the

Caribbean region. This workshop then seeks to build on these efforts with the main

objective of strengthening and updating the data collection knowledge,

methodology and skills for data collectors of MIS in CARIFORUM.

The workshop consists of seven technical modules with a combination of theoretical

and practical approaches (learning by doing methodology) developed in full three-

day (twenty-four hours) agenda. The workshop is designed to present a broad

range of practices, procedures and skills involved in the data collection across the

value chain (farm gate, wholesale markets, retail markets, etc.). It is expected that

the workshop participants will share the learnt lessons with MIS staff in their countries

and implement a Plan of Action regarding market data collection.
