Run On Sentences

A run-on sentence is two or more sentences that are incorrectly written as one sentence. The length of the sentence has nothing to do with it being a run-on sentence. Run-on sentences may be more than one sentence written as one without end marks, OR a run-on may be more than one sentence joined with commas.

Run-on Examples

Timothy believes that Stew Cat is a jumbi he is convinced that there is

an evil spirit in Stew Cat that is causing them bad luck.

Carnival is one of the most exciting festivals in South America,

Carnival begins the Saturday before Lent and lasts until the following Tuesday.

During this four day celebration in late February or early March many activities take place, they include parades, music, dancing, fireworks, masquerades, and theme parties.

The theme is from a part of history or culture like the Portuguese navigators who discovered Brazil or the Indians of the Amazon region the theme is shown through floats, costumes, and songs.

There are four methods for correcting run-on sentences.

1.  The first is to simply make two sentences.
