    Topic in Social Studies

    Mrs. Wilcox

    Fall 2013

    The purpose of this class is to learn and analyze various topics in American History.The class will consist of reading, discussing, research, lecture, analyzing, and writing. We will be

    experimenting with technology (Google Docs, presentations, Slide Rocket, etc.) and with various activities.

    You are expected to:

    1. be prepared.

    2. complete assignments on time. No late work (if there is a problem, contact me before the

    assignment is due.)

    3. be respectful and appropriate in all aspects of the class. Name-calling, yelling, and any other

    forms of disrespectfulness and inappropriateness is unacceptable. This also includes your textbook and any

    other items.

    4. all electronic devices are not to be used without permission. Cell phones need to be off or on

    silent.

    5. all work handed in need your name, class, date, and page number (if applicable) in the top right

    hand corner. They must be typed or written in pencil or blue or black ink. Any work that doesnt meet the

    criteria will not be graded and thrown away.

    6. have only water or sports drink in class. No food.

    7. do your own work. Plagiarism will is unacceptable.

    a. 1st offense: a zero on the assignment and a parent call.

    b. 2nd offense: a zero on the assignment, a parent conference, and a written discipline

    notice.

    c. 3rd offense: a zero on the assignment and fail government class.

    8. follow school policies.

    9. hand in all work prior to a planned absence.

    10. do work on high school level.

    11. participate in all class activities.

    12. come with a positive attitude.

    I reserve the right to say what is acceptable and unacceptable. Infractions of expectations may result in

    detention, disciplinary notice, and/or a parent call.

    Grading:

    Grades are based on total points, not weighted. Tests and quizzes must be made up in 2 days per

    each day absent.

    This semester, you will be doing a variety of activities and a semester long project which will be

    assigned later.

    The grading scale will be according to District Policy: 100-90 A, 89-80 B, 70-70 C, 69-60 D, 59-0
