Visit of His Holiness Sakya Trizen

June 2010

We were blessed this summer to host a

teaching visit by H.H. Sakya Trizin for a week

in June, as part of His European tour. H.H.

bestowed the high tantra Hevajra and

Vajrayogini teachings to a total of 75 students

from home and abroad.

Prior to the teachings H.H. attended a welcome

ceremony at the STL centre in Shelbourne

Road,Charminster, Bournemouth.

The venue for the teachings was the Cricket

Centre at Hurn Bridge near Christchurch. A

section of the hall was transformed into a

gompa, with drapes hung from the cricket nets,

making for an airy and spacious atmosphere.

Inside were the shrine, H.H.’s throne, the

mandala table previously constructed for the

Lamdre teachings in 2007 and the prayer tables

for H.H.’s attendants, monks and lay students.

Amongst the attendees was Ven Lama Jampa

Thaye who received the Hevajra initiation.

Outside the gompa, within the hall, stalls were

set up for the sale of books and Buddhist and

paraphernalia. The venue proved a great

success and the teachings were a wonderful

experience.

Our grateful thanks go to all those who helped

organize and implement the arrangements for

this precious visit, with a special thanks to

Charlotte, Prem, Linda, Jules, Andrew and Sue.

Breaking News

We have just confirmed that The Sakya

Thubten Ling Buddhist Centre will be

privileged to host a visit by His

Eminence Ratna Vajra as part of His

Eminence’s 2011 European Tour.

He will give the Hevjra Cause and

Path Initiation This will be over three

days and he will also give public talks.

His Eminence will be in Bournemouth

between

8th

to 15th

of August 2011

His Eminence Ratna Vajra Rinpoche.

His Eminence is the elder son of

His Holiness the 41st Sakya

Trizin, head of the Tibetan Sakya

School of Buddhism.

Since early childhood H.E has

undertaken the intensive traditional

training for lineage holders. His

training now complete, he is a

master of both the esoteric and

exoteric traditions of Buddhist

philosophy and meditation. He is

well known for the brilliance and

clarity of his teachings and his

fluency and excellent command of

English.

Request for Football Shirts

Does anyone have any used Football Shirts that we can send to monks in our centers in India? One of our

members recently visited Dera Dun and would like to send some shirts for use when they play football. Please

contact Jules or ask in the centre.

Work in the centre

We are looking for someone to volunteer to co-ordinate the painting, repairs, cleaning and gardening requirements

at the Centre (both paid and voluntary). We also would welcome people with skills such as plumbers, electricians,

carpenters and those who would be willing to undertake DIY or unskilled work to go in a register. The co-

ordinator would maintain the database so that as tasks arose there would be people available to be called upon.

Programme Additional Meditation Openings

A number of people have made specific requests to open our centre for people to use for their own meditation

practice. We are pleased to be in a position to be open one Saturday per month, commencing

Saturday 9th October between 11.00amand 4.00pm. Please ask a member for more details.
