The Home—2 weeks after moving in

Praise the Lord! It has finally happened—we are now living in our new home in LaMo! How wepraise and thank the Lord for making it possible for us to move into this beautiful spacious building. Wepraise and thank Him for each of you who have given so much and prayed so faithfully for this event tocome about. We moved June 7th and it was an exciting day for everyone. The big boys went to Lal-lo with the first truck load of furniture and started cleaning so that it would be ready for everyonethat afternoon. Mrs. Boudreaux was a great help by talcing ail of the middle-sized children to her houseso the other aunties could finish the last minute packing and organizing and watch the babies. That night we

all sang praises to the Lord and thanked

here will come many wonderful, strongThe Home—2 weeks after moving in Christians. Please join us in this praise

and prayer.

This was a growing summer for the Home, as we increased by four and lost one. We are sorry thatCora, one of the Megrito girls, decided she did not want to continue her education and decided to return to her home. Becau.se of no school in her area and financial problems of her family we were helping her.Cora bRcanie a baptilzed_ believer while living with u.s and we are thankful thaj_although she is awayfrom us,'~s1ie IS still in t"Ee Lord. .Jason joined us the last of March at the age 6r"S' mos. 'irie was a JM?'sad sight because of neglect and abuse, but now, as he is celebrating his first birthday we are thank-ful for the growth and happiness evident in him. We are thankful that we are also able to have contactwith his mother and pray that she will learn to love and trust in Jesus. Twelve year old Marino joinedus in April, and was one who was baptized during camp. We praise the Lord th.at we could help Ma- :<!'rioo and also that because of this Home he was able to come to know Christ and accept Him as His Savior,May 30th two-month-old Romy was brought by his mother, who did not want him. His body was covered withsore.s and he suffered from lack of attention. Praise the Lord that through His grace and medicine Romy's soressoon disappeared. When his father came a few days later (he was gone for a long time on his job) hefound that hi.s wife had given us the babj*. Me came to see Romy and when he saw his excellent condition and the good home, he asked if it would be possible for him to bring his almost-two-year-old son <;also, because now he had no one to care for him. When Roger arrived June 0 he weighed 12 lbs., could hardlysit by himself and could not Iiold

•'fliil Because of the added children and the added work we need to hire morestaff. We are praying for the Lord to send us the staff that can best fillthe need and do his work, and we know that as He has supplied before,

again. We also trust Him to provide the added financesHIBnSBI^SiSiH^HI needed with more staff, more children, and rising costs. We know that He

We praise the Lord that as our Seminary ha.s opened we have almost 80 students enrolled. We arethankful that there are over 1,000 students enrolled in our two High Schools and that the schools arebecoming more self-supporting.

We hope to have the water tower, wind mill, wash-house, and store room going up soon. The Houseis still very bare of furniture and a few ot.iier tilings, but they will come with'time. But there are somethings we noyd if anyone would like a project or something special to do. Because of the never endingjob of clothing 24 children, in which Joy Collins play.s a large part, we could u.se such things as buttons, zipper-s, ricrac, lace, etc. for the sewing and

ply your needs also. Please keep all of us, aswell as Mr. and Mrs. Selbj' (who are on fur- Kindergarten Classlough) in your prayers.

Dear Friends in Christ,

These last three months have been filled with many blessings from the Loird, and we praise.Him for each one. We praise Him and thank Him for each one of you, who because of yourlove and faith in the Lord, have given so much and so faithfully, and have prayed for.,us,so that this work is able to gc on. May the Lord continue to bless each one of you foryour faith and love for Him.

The Seminary;-has just started its second semester, with 73 students enrolled. Ibis hasbeen a good-year in the seminary and ail of the students seem very dedicated and full ofdesire.to leam to teach and preach God's Word, We praise the Lord that we have not hadany problem students and that He has sent us those whom He wants to study here, as wehave prayed, . -• '

-^--praise the-iord for the -victorious^ Week'df^Evangelism that"t7a^Tieia^ Oct7n5*-fp^^W'̂ ^two high schools. There were 16^ students who accepted Christ as their Savior and werebaptized in the two high schools. Please continue to pray for these schools as theyreach many with the Word of God, as it is taught everyday to about 1,000 ybung people.Pray that these new Christians will qTow strong in their love and service to our Lord,

Our oldest girl in the Cagayan Valley Children's Home, Minda, is a 2nd year student atour Southern Isabela High School, She has placed 5th in her class, and is working hard^ be first. She also has won the 2nd place in the essay contest held before the Week of^angelism,^ How we praise.the Lord for making it possible for Minda to attend thisChristian high school and for the spiritual growth that has taken place in her as a result, We pray for the day that we have a high school on our property in Lal-lo so thatall of our children will be able to benefit from a Christian hipb school education (mostall of the other high schools are Catholic),

The family in the Children's Home has grovm and shrunk since, the last newsletter. InAu^st our little Roberta left us to live with her aunt and uncle. We really miss her, after having-her for ^ years, but we are very thankful that she is being raised in ahristian home, and that ohere will be pcsoibilities of seeing her again. Just this

month we have grown by three. On the 9th of 0-3tober two little boys joined our family.Amor will be 3 yrs. old'in December and his brother, Gloridel, was 4 months old. Theirmother died when Gloridel was born and the father was unable to take care of the child-ren. They lived pn an island and 't twu --^ays vr lk frcm thoir plaoo to the shoresto catch the boat that would bring them to rhe mainland where they could buy their, needs,

ISO the father could not do his farming because of having to care for the children, andthus had no subsistence, Gloridel.only weighed 7-2- lbs. when he arrived, and vr.s a sad, skinny sight. We have many more boys than girls in the Home and have been hoping thatwe would get a girl. On the l4th little Merma Leah joined us, and how happy we are forthis pretty little giil of 3 weeks. She is an illegitimate child and we praise the Lordthat we are able to give her a good Christian home. At this time we had 27 children.

We are always thankful that we are able to help the children physically as well as spiritually, Sometimes they come to us in very bad condition, and we give them love and food, and pray that the Lord will make them well and strong. Such was the case with littleloridel. He was in very bad shape with 3rd degree malnutrition. Everyday we prayed for

his health and strength. He ate well, but still was very weak. Just one week afterarriving in our home Gloridel went to be .'itl our Heavenly Father. We were surprisedby his sudden death and of course saddened by the loss of one we loved, but we know thatthe Lo:^ had His hand in this because of our continued prayer for His working in Gloridel.we praise God for the assurance we have through Jesus Christ that Gloridel is with Himin hea.yen and that he is not in pain or hunger anymore. We praise tjod for His love that

j possible for us to spend eternity with Him, because of the forgiving power ofGod through the blood of Jesus Christ. Our God's love is so great, that He was willingto give His son for us s.inners. And the love of Christ is also beyond understanding, thatHe was willing to give His life for us. May we all bring glory and honor to His name,as we serve Kim.

We all praised the Lord on the 19th of September when our Home was hooked up to the electricity and our whole house was lighted up. What a blessing this is, as it is so mucheasier to do the work, have devotions, care for the children, when you have light. Itwill cost us more in dollars, but we praise God that He is supplying all that for us.through you who love Him,

Page 6: Pruitt Mary 1980 Philippines

The water tower and windmill are still in the process of being built. We praise God forthe great gifts that have come in to help with this project, and we pray for quick completion, Our rainy season is coming upon us, and in some ways makes it easier to carrywater, but in other ways makes it moife difficult. Our real problem during the rainyseason is getting all the diapers and clothes dry. It takes a lot of diapers for allthose babies. We have three in the training process, but that is still a lot of laundry,as they are not yet trained. What we really need is a dryer.

The kids are all growing so fast that Joy Collins never lacks for something to do infitting, mending, and making over clothes. But Joy will be going on a short furlough, beginning the middle of November until Kiarch. We will miss her while she is gone, and Iam sure the kids will learn to appreciate her more, as they will be waiting anxiously-for her return, Joy is busy now finishing up making pajamas for e-veryone and gettingthem all sufficiently out-fitted before she leaves, I want to say a great big THANK YOUto all who have given us so many beautiful clothes. There have been very few things thatwere no good and unable to be used. Some things are made over or made into somethingelse, but they are all used. Thank yoii also to all who have sent us toys and other neededitems for the Home. We praise and thank the Lord for you and your love for Him, shownthrough your generosity, i

I am also working on my furlough plans. As of now I am planning on leaving the last partof April or the first part of May, but I am not yet planning any speaking dates beforeJune in case I am not able to leave as early as planned. You may contact my forwardingagents to set up dates.

Part of the uncertainty of my furlough pl^ns stems from our need to acquire a perma.nani'license for the Home before I leave. Before this can be done the Mission must bechanged from a corporation to a foundation. Pray that all this may be accomplished sgcti.

Also we are waiting for those who will be covering for me while I am gone. We praicothe Lord that Mrs. Shirley Toledo, from Lynnwood, Washington, is coming to work in theoffice in Aparri, which will free me to spend all my time with the work in the Home inLal-lo, Mrs. Toledo is now raising her support and will come as soon as she has it, (wewish she were already here). If anyone is interested in helping fbrs. Toledo they maycontact her at: Shirley Toledo, 5220 176th S. W. Sp. 83, Eynmjocd, ¥A 98036-We arc also waiting for someone to take over the directorship of the Home while I am gone. There is a couple coming for a 2 year term, who may be able to do this work. They arealso still in the process of fund-raising (living-link) so pray for their quick accessto funds that they may soon be here with us to serve the Lord in this place.

Thank you all so much for your love and prayers and your faithful and generous giving. How I praise the Lord, for each one of you and your love for the Lord. Without you, thiswork would not be possible, This work is yours as much as our, I praise the Lord forsending me here to work for Him, and for the joy of my work, I pray that each of youfind joy in your part, in the prayer and support of the work here in the Philippines, and in other places around the world. Let us pray for the peace of this world, and doas much as possible to bring the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ to all.

In Christ's service,

Mary Pruitt
