Welcome Carolina Bronze SculptureCarolina Bronze has been located on Maple Springs Road for 20 years and now they
can officially call Seagrove home. The Town Council at the February 2meeting formalized their voluntary annexation after a public hearing andapproval. Seagrove is fortunate to have such a state of the art facility inour community.
Carolina Bronze is a premier fine arts bronze foundry servingartists, architects, museums and non-profits throughout the world. Theyspecialize in fine arts bronze casting and fabrication, and use bothtraditional and advanced digital tools.
Ed and Melissa Walker own Carolina Bronze Sculpture. Theirresidence is also located on the property. Their company employs eleven
local residents. The works created at their facility have been installed in many locations
around the country and internationally. Seagrove is privileged to haveone of Ed Walker’s personal creations, a contemporary metalsculpture titled, “Balancing Time II” installed on the corner at thestoplight in Seagrove. They plan to install several other sculptures inthe downtown area in the near future.
Carolina Bronze Sculpture GardenCarolina Bronze is also developing a natural landscaped area
overlooking a 1.25-acre pond as a sculpture garden. They intend tocreate a contemplative place for walking and exercise that will be opento the public and community visitors. There will be benches, picnic areas and sculpturesdonated, acquired, and loaned, that represent all forms of 3D media. It should be completed
by August 2016, in time for the Tri-State Sculpture Conference in October 2016.
Tri-State Sculpture ConferenceCarolina Bronze Sculpture in Seagrove and STARworks in Star sponsor the 38thAnnual Tri-State Sculpture Conference. The conference will be held October 6-9, 2016. Therewill be exhibitions and educational opportunities here in Seagrove, Asheboro and in Star.Visitors to the conference will tour the NC Zoo Sculpture collection, The NC Pottery Centerand the Seagrove area potteries.

Unanimous Vote for Alcohol ReferendumTuesday, February 16, The Town Council called a special meeting to decide if the towncommissioners should pass a referendum that would eventually allow the voters of Seagrove
to decide if they want beer and wine to be sold in town. The majority of the townspeople whospoke at the meeting felt it was important to allow Seagrove voters an opportunity to decidefor themselves. The vote was unanimous for the referendum. All the commissioners agreed asa democratic council the voters of Seagrove deserve the right to decide. It is uncertain whenthis will be on the ballot.

Welcome to Seagrove Sign
A committee is currentlyworking on a welcome to Seagrove sign.The sign design was created by CrystalKing, potter, and Mayor Fernandez. It
will be located on the south side of Hwy73 past the
bridge. MikeWalker hasvolunteeredto do thestonework. The sign will be paid for bythe recent sale of the cemetery toSeagrove Christian Church and theSeagrove Area Potters Association.
Town Beautification
The next Beautification meeting will be
held Wednesday, March 9th at 5:30.
Discussion will include types of shrubs,
trees, flowers and possible planting
locations along 705 and Broad Street. The
meeting will be held in the Town Hall.
Please bring your ideas. Everyone is
welcome.

Wednesday Evening Walk
With warmer weather and daylight savingstime around the corner let’s enjoy theoutdoors and get some exercise. Walking isa great way to be active and stay healthy.Anyone interested in walking, meet at theold Seagrove Bank
building onWednesday March23, 5:30 pm. Wehope to make this aweekly event.
A Message From Mayor FernandezThe alcohol referendum is the single most important decision Seagrove residents will make forthe future of our town. Our grocery store “Fresh Cuts” is not currently making a profit. Without a new
revenue source it may not survive.I personally do not care if you drink or not, but we all have to eat. Fresh Cuts is the only
grocery store in Southern Randolph County and we, as a community, cannot afford to lose it.Also it is important to note that the Town of Seagrove could really use any additional tax revenues that this vote
would bring.Finally, if we really want new restaurants in Seagrove this vote would go a long way to help this become a reality.I respect every citizen’s right to choose. When we shop in our grocery store or one in Asheboro, Biscoe, or
Robbins, we choose what we put in our buggy to buy. No one forces us. A yes vote for the referendum protects that right tochoose.
5K for the Hungry
On Saturday, April 2, Seagrove Runsfor the Hungry. Runners and walkersare both welcome. This 5K
fundraiser is sponsored by MapleSprings Baptist Church and will benefit the Southern RandolphChristians United Food Pantry. Thewalk/run begins at 9:00 am at theSeagrove Elementary School. Pre-registering is $20 for runners and $15for walkers. Registration on race daycosts $5 more. For more informationor registration forms email:
