Dear fellow Member,

Well, 2012 has gotten off to a very good start for Greystone Golf & Country Club and we are optimistic that this will be a continuing trend throughout the year. We are pleased that the weather has allowed for many to take advantage of the Clubʼs offerings in this “off-season”. Increased activities means “more fun for our members”

and increased revenues for the Club. Our Committee Chairmen have been selected and we extend a hearty “thank you” to each of them for their time and expertise. These Chairmen have your interest at heart and welcome your input, so feel free to talk to them.

Hal McKewen House Committee

Steve Boner Building & Grounds Committee

Robert Fuentes Finance Committee

Scott Ferguson Swim, Tennis, and Fitness Committee

Al Del Greco Golf Committee

Van Major Membership Marketing/Communications Committee

One project of high priority this year is the acceptance of our Master Plan. Your Building & Grounds Committee has been working on this plan for over two years and will be ready to unveil their work at a presentation in March. Each Member should have an interest in this project, so we encourage you to attend the March 27th Town Hall Meeting. Greystone has a totally new website that has mobile connectivity. For those interested, there will be a Communications Workshop on March 12th to explain this new website and how to utilize it to meet your needs. It is impressive and even Pam and I, as electronically challenged as we are, can access and use it rather easily. Try it!! The Greystone Foundation will again host the Fallen Heroes event this year on April 26th and 27th. This very appropriate event honoring our military “HEROES” will be expanded this year to a two day event. On the 26th, we will host a Celebrity Golf Tournament in conjunction with Alabama Forever and the Alabama Tornado Victims & Achilles International. The proceeds from this two day event will be divided evenly between these charities. Greystone members have always shown their appreciation to those who have served and sacrificed for our Country and for those who suffered from last year’s tornados, so let’s continue our beneficence and show that we CARE!!!!

There are many events for Greystone members this year and we encourage you and yours to take advantage of each and every one. This is your Club and you joined to have fun, relax and enjoy the company of your fellow members, so “just do it!”

Dear Members, Where is Old Man Winter?! I certainly hope he doesn’t rear his head in March or April! No matter what weather comes to Greystone, we will be ready.

Winter Membership Offer The Club welcomed 43 new members (by February 21st) into Greystone during the Winter Membership program. Many thanks to all new families and to all members who sponsored their friends.

Master Plan The final work is being completed on the Master Plan proposal and presentation to the membership. NO, THERE WILL NOT BE AN ASSESSMENT TO PAY FOR THE PROJECTS! All committees have reviewed,

dissected and offered valuable feedback to this plan. Please plan to attend the Tuesday, March 27th Town Hall Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Founders where the Master Plan will be proposed and equity members will be asked to vote on the projects that will shape Greystone’s future. Tennis Update Congratulations to Ryen Valentine and Kristijan Mitrovski on their promotion to Co-Directors of Tennis. They are working hard to develop new and exciting programs. It is a great time to play tennis at “the Stone”! Kala Waldron As many of you know, Kala Waldron, Catering Director, and her husband, Vance, are expecting their first child in late March/early April. Her plans are to possibly return on a very part-time basis after maternity leave. We wish Kala and Vance the very best! I certainly wish you and your family an incredible spring at Greystone!

P.S. Our son, Marshall, is enjoying his second semester at Auburn. He is extremely active in the church and student government. Thanks for all of the well wishes for Carolyn who had total knee replacement surgery. She will get better!

One of our very own is going to coach! Andy Gray, Greystone Gator since the age of 5, will be the Gator Head Coach this year! He hopes that members will take advantage of the swim team and participation will be higher than ever! Meet Coach Andy on some of our Family Nights at Founders. He’ll be calling Bingo March 15th & April 19th. And he’ll also be at Founders on April 12th for Summer Sign-Up from 5-7pm. Its only February and the grass is turning green - what a winter we have had! The weather for December and January has yielded us more rounds of golf than any other December or January in the history of the Club. What a great way to start the year! As a result of the unusually warm temperatures, golf handicaps are sure

to be dropping, not far, but they are dropping!

I recently returned from the PGA show in Orlando and was so glad to see that the traffic was so backed up on I-Drive in front of the Orange County Convention Center that it took us an additional 45 minutes just to get in the place. Things certainly seem to be moving in the right direction in the golf world. There were some really interesting items at the show that Greystone will soon be carrying. If you are up on the latest in fashion and design, the name Mossimo Giannulli probably rings a bell. He designed a golf glove line that is second to none. There are approximately twenty different colors of gloves to go with all of your outfits. We will also be offering them via special order. You can check out the colors online at www.g-fore.com. Another item that I know that you won’t be able to live without is Abigale Lynn Ball Marker Interchangeable Bracelet. They fit on a bracelet that looks like a watch. I hope you get the chance to come by and see the latest in styles and fashions that will be arriving weekly in the pro shops. Rules Changes in 2012

The USGA has made a couple of rules changes for 2012 and I would like to touch on just a couple of them. Addressing the ball now can be done without taking your stance but with grounding your club only. Another interesting change is that wearing an Ipod (or similar device) to check for scores, news, etc. will result in a penalty. For more info on rules changes go to www.usga.org. Finally, if you haven’t seen the new Greystone website, please take the time to check it out. We worked on the site preparation and content loading for close to a year to assure that it would be more functional for our members. Visit www.greystonecc.com - Golf - Tournaments & Registration for the 2012 tournament schedule. Once again, we will be registering online for events with even more information right at your fingertips.

Just as a reminder, the Player of the Year tournament is back on this year and the points you earn by participation and placing in events is what will get you into the final event on November 17th. Congrats to Steve Muncher for winning the 2011 Player of the year award.

Tom Miller, Club President, had his first hole-in-one at Legacy on February 15th!

Steve Muncher 2011 Player of the Year

Jeff Curl also had a hole-in-one at Legacy on February 15th!

The weekly TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Junior program will be resuming the first Saturday in April (April 7th). For those who have not yet participated and wish to try it out, we are offering two days in March as a trial period (March 17th and 31st). During this trial period, the cost per session per child will be $40. You may purchase both spots for a special rate of $60.

Once the program officially launches, the cost of the program is $120/month per child and $105/month for each sibling. There is a one time registration fee of $100 per child. The program will last for 1 hour each Saturday afternoon. We will have 3 different sessions to address the different developmental stages of your child; Cyclone (6 - 8 years), SMASH (9 - 11 years), WAVE (12 - 14 years) and Elite Development Program or Golf 4 Life (15 years and up). (More sessions during the week may be added as this program grows). A 1 month commitment will be required to register your child for the program. Billing for this program will be at the beginning of each month.

For more information on this junior program or to sign up, please contact Siew Ai Lim by phone at 914-7888 or by email at [email protected]. You can also contact us at [email protected].

On behalf of Mr. Johnson and the Hank Johnson School of Golf,

P.S. Mr. Johnson and his wife are thankful for your thoughts, prayers and warm wishes. He is still recov-ering but has been uplifted by all of your support. We look for him to make a full recovery and be back teaching again shortly!

As spring nears, all of the golf equipment manufacturers are launching their 2012 product lines. This year, TaylorMade is proud to unveil their latest in technological innovation: The Rocketballz (RBZ) line of Drivers, Fairways, Rescues, and Irons. This line replaces the most successful metalwood/iron line of the last 20 years, the Burner line. The Burner 1.0 and 2.0 irons accounted for 1 out of every 10 sets in the country last year, and TaylorMade hopes to build on their successes of recent years with these exciting new offerings. With 19 new product lines this year, it would be difficult to

summarize initial findings with all of these items, so a few of the most noteworthy additions are highlighted below.

Initial reports from the field indicate that the RBZ Fairway woods are INSANELY long. Virtually every player who has been fit has experienced a sizeable distance increase when using the RBZ Fairway woods. Players are experiencing anywhere from 10 to 40 yards increase in the distances they hit these Fairway woods. They also remark upon how easy it is to strike it solid and hit it higher than any fairway wood they have previously used.

For those seeing rapid distance loss and the ball just doesn't seem to fly high anymore, the RBZ MAX Iron is worth considering. In short, all of the engineering within the TaylorMade brand used over the past 20 years in metalwood design was incorporated in the construction of this iron set. For those who don't mind a larger looking clubhead, need assistance hitting the ball high, and are not seeing your distance clubs travel different distances anymore, we highly recommend you schedule an appointment to be fit for these irons.

Lastly, the R11 line has been carried forward into 2012 in name only. The R11S may as well be named the R13, as the differences are too glaring to really be considered in the same line. For starters, the engineering is considerably different, with more adjustibility options, a larger, deeper clubhead/face, and a different center of gravity. Secondly, this driver DRASTICALLY outperforms the R11 from last year. Performance Results have been OFF THE CHARTS!! Easy to hit, more customizable than any driver on the market, streamlined aesthetic, and distance that is not being seen with any other driver on the market, please make it a point to demo one this spring. IN FACT, TaylorMade will be unveiling their "Driver Love" campaign this year. DRIVER LOVE is a 100% Money Back Guarantee for the R11S Driver if properly fit in a TMPL Center. THATS RIGHT!! If you are fit for an R11S between now and June in a TaylorMade Performance Lab, and at any point during that time frame you are not happy with the performance of the driver, TaylorMade will refund you 100% of the purchase price.

So make your appointment for a fitting today to see if any of these new offerings may make the game more fun for you!

8 Low-Carb Vegetables

1. Spinach: Popeye had the right idea when he bulked up on green, leafy spinach. This low-carb veggie is a wise addition to a diabetic diet because it’s loaded with folate, beta carotene, iron, and vitamin K.

2. Tomato: Another superfood, these are packed with vitamin C and are good sources of vitamin A, potassium, and fiber. They’re also low-carb and low-cal — just 32 calories per cup.

3. Broccoli: If you’re not already eating broccoli, make a point of adding it to your diet. It’s low carbohydrate and loaded with vitamins A (beta carotene), C, and D. It also has calcium, fiber, and iron.

4. Cucumber: A cool, crisp, low-carb choice — a generous one-cup portion has fewer than 5 grams of carbohydrates. You can get your fill of this low-carbohydrate vegetable without worrying about raising your blood sugar too much. Cucumbers are a good source of vitamin K and they also contain potassium and vitamin C.

5. Cabbage: Eating cabbage is an inexpensive way to add vitamins K and C and antioxidants to your diet. Cabbage is also a good source of manganese, fiber, and vitamin B6. This low-carb veggie is at its peak in the fall and early winter.

6. Brussels Sprouts: These might not win any popularity contests, but they deserve a spot in your meal plan. Besides being low-carb, these mini cabbages are full of vitamins A, C, and folic acid, and fiber. And just like cabbage, brussels sprouts are a cruciferous low-carbohydrate veggie, which experts believe may ward off some cancers.

7. Cauliflower: Another neglected low-carbohydrate veggie, cauliflower can be a boon to your weekly meal plan. This vegetable is brimming with vitamin C. In fact, just one serving has more than half your daily requirement. It contains fiber, calcium, and iron to boot.

8. Asparagus: This flavorful veggie has only 27 calories per cup and is very low-carb, coming in at only 5 grams. Asparagus is packed with vitamins K and A.
