SOUTHEAST MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHY www.smponline.org

Continues through March 21, 2011 LYONIA GALLERY: Bruce Mozert Bruce Mozert, by the age of 20, was already an accomplished photographer in N.Y. City. He came to Silver Springs in the fall of 1938 when they were making Tarzan films. Soon after arriving, he built his first underwater camera case. The underwater pictures he took were so clear that MGM took them to Hollywood and used them. His pictures were picked up by wire services and magazines throughout the world. Mozert became well known for his underwater photographs, as well as his pin-ups and animal photos. He also worked as an underwater motion picture cameraman working with NBC, ABC, CBS and many Hollywood productions. The Southeast Museum of Photography's new Lyonia Gallery presents exhibitions and programs related to the environment, land-use, local history and regional culture in an exhibition space in Volusia County Government's new LYONIA ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER. The museum gallery occupies display space immediately adjacent to the environmental exhibits area of the Center. Open during Lyonia Environmental Center's hours of operation: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Wednesday; 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday. Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona For additional information call 386.506.4475.

Continues through May 29, 2011 Karen Glaser – The Mark of Water: Florida's Springs and Swamps For more than two decades Karen Glaser has documented amazing worlds beneath the surface of water. Her photography for this exhibition was made “inside” Florida’s springs, swamps and waterways and it provides a unique interpretation of these distinctive environments. Her color images are not mere documents of Florida’s underwater wonderlands; they convey the mystery and primal power of this alien environment in a unique and personal view and one that is unfamiliar, alluring and visceral. Free admission. MUSEUM HOURS: OPEN: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Wednesday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday: 1 - 5 p.m. CLOSED: Mondays and for the following dates: DSC Spring Break Daytona Beach Campus, Bldg. 1200, SMP 1200 W. Int'l Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach For additional information call 386.506.4475.

Continues through May 29, 2011 Lorna Bieber – Images: Found and Lost Lorna Bieber uses collage, paint, photocopier and computer technology to build “one-off” traditional silver photographs. Presented as large murals and wall-sized collages; these images select unnoticed, archetypal and poignant elements from found imagery and anonymous, generic magazine illustrations to create a remote and contemplative interior world of memory, ambiguity, dream and loss. Free admission. Int'l Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach For additional information call 386.506.4475. Continues through May 13, Stuart Rome - Signs and Wonders Stuart Rome followed in the footsteps of many of the great pro-genitors of natural science and journeyed to the heart of the Florida peninsula. His celebrated landscape images draw their inspiration and take their lead from the writings, journals, and illustrations of many of these important early naturalists. Signs and Wonders is concerned with the relationship between people and their environment. They examine the visual evidence present in the landscape of our cultural priorities and history and expand upon the standard landscape vocabulary to build a complex language of layers, networks and connections in the landscape. His eloquent black and white prints resonate with a precision and draftsmanship that belies the teeming energy and vitality present in the hidden details of a location. Free admission.
