  • CESSNOCK PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

    SEASON2016

  • We take pleasure in inviting you into an exciting world of performing arts adventures; a place where riveting stories are told which help us make sense of our world; a place where we celebrate where we live, and where we are transported to distant worlds of imagination.

The 2016 SEASON is peppered with music from classic Australian rock, with the return of the successful Rock Show series, to a version of a 1950s soda-pop quartet a la the Jersey Boys, and a buxom Bette Midler homage.

Encouraging new audiences and sharing the excitement of live performance is an important part of our business and in 2016 we have a strong focus on engaging children and families. We are extremely proud to be joining with Christine Dunstan Productions to present the classic Australian tale of Snugglepot & Cuddlepie, as well as presenting a beautiful physical theatre piece from Patch Theatre, and hosting the outrageous Listies in their 6D comedy extravaganza, best described as anarchic, unruly and guaranteed to have the whole family (even Dads) rolling in the aisles.

Add to this some award winning drama, laugh out loud comedy, toe tapping and heart-warming romance, as well as a cheeky little piece where the cast go the full monty and youve got the year summed up!

Just a gentle reminder for those of you struggling to find the perfect gift, we do have gift vouchers available all year round!

  • 21-year-old Leo rocks up unannounced at the Manhattan apartment of his 91-year-old Jewish grandmother Vera. As an overnight couch-surf turns into an extended stay, 4000 Miles unearths a surprising parallel between these two generations in this emotionally compelling drama.

Amy Herzogs award winning play is a compassionate and unsentimental exploration of the funny, frustrating, and ultimately life-changing relationship between a grandson learning to face his life, and a grandmother who is starting to forget hers.
