“It’s a delight when we see theoutstanding results that our clientsachieve with Strawberry Lipo andEndermology” explains salon ownerCailee Byron. Many have tried lotions, potions, diets, working out in the gym and the like– all to little or no avail, but Cailee has seen clients’ faces light up with theresults they’ve achieved with this new treatment and comments:“It reallydoes warm our hearts.”Clients can help regain their self-esteem with these treatments as many peoplefind the the effects of cellulite, sagging jowls,‘bingo wings’, bulging tummies, poorly defined bottoms or enlarged thighs can have a dramatic effect on howthey feel about themselves. Lowering self-esteem and, sometimes, self-worth.That’s what Cailee finds so great – “seeing the self esteem pour back intopeoples’ lives”.“After each treatment you can actually see peoples’ self confidence being

regained as their skin tightens, as their tummies reduce in size. It is almost, astheir cellulite melts away, their self-confidence just soars. That can be so reward-ing”. she adds.

Strawberry Lipo and Endermology treatments are at the very cutting edge oftechnology. It is truly amazing what these machines can achieve. All whilst theclient is lying down, relaxing, as the treatment gently works its magic. It’s simpleand painless.

Cailee isn’t one to give treatments that she wouldn’t have herself. “I regularlyhave Strawberry Lipo and Endermology sessions” she enthuses.

Clients are not alone in recognising the benefits of this treatment - it’s a regimethat is believed to be shared with many well known celebrities such as ColeenRooney, Claudia Shiffer and Elle Macpherson.“Strawberry Lipo can be just so effective in particular” Cailee continues. This is a

view shared by many in the international press - with rave reviews, Suzi Dixon

writing in theTelegraph Newspaperabout the treatmentwith favourable resultsfor her.“You are in safe hands

with guaranteedresults” Cailee explains.“All my staff are highlytrained both in usingthe machines and inthe help & advice theyoffer. This can really putyou at ease. Plus, wecan actually offer aguarantee behindthe treatments thatwe offer.”Try before you buy

with a superb offer atCailees:“I realise thatsome people can besuspicious of the claimswe make. This is why I’dlike to extend my own personal invitation for people to try either the StrawberryLipo or Endermology treatments for just £35 – a real fraction of the cost. I wouldurge anyone to just give it a go.The results you’ll be able see are just outstand-ing.The results you’ll feel are even better! Plus membership packages areavailable to help you stay as the new you forever!”

Booking couldn’t be easier, just call (0115) 946 1994 and Cailee’s will do the rest.

breeze appeal

Marie Curie CancerCare is askingpeople to help ‘paintthe town yellow’ thisMarch by wearing adaffodil pin to backits annual GreatDaffodil Appeal.

Every donation for a daffodil will help moreMarie Curie Nurses to provide free care toterminally ill people in their own homes orone of the charity’s hospices.

Most people would choose to die at homeif they were terminally ill, yet the majority diein hospital, the place they least want to be.This year Marie Curie Nurses will make thischoice a reality for people by providing freecare for people in their own homes through-out the UK.

None of this work would be possiblewithout the generous support of peoplewho donate to the Great Daffodil Appeal orgive up their time to volunteer in their localcommunity.

Debbie Ventham, one of the charity’sNursing Ambassadors, explains why theappeal is so important: “I have been a MarieCurie Nurse for seven years and I’ve lookedafter people from all walks of life, includingmy own sister who died at home surrounded

by all her family. Like my sister, most peoplewant the choice of being at home at the endof their life - in their own bed, looking outonto their own garden, with their family andfriends close by - and Marie Curie CancerCare makes this a reality.

“Marie Curie Nurses not only look after thepatient but their families too. We workshifts, often at night, giving carers thechance to take a break, spend quality timewith their loved one, or simply get a goodnight’s sleep. Just being there to talk topatients and their families, to put their mindat ease and allay any fears they may have, can make all the difference.

“In March I’ll be wearing my daffodil pin inmemory and celebration of my mother, sister, and all the patients I’ve had theprivilege of looking after over the years. Please join me by wearing a daffodil pin andensuring that every person with a terminalillness has the choice to access free MarieCurie nursing care.”

Daffodil pins can be picked up from localstores, schools and street throughout March.

The charity is also looking for local stars toplay their part as volunteers behind thescenes. So whether you’ve got two hours ortwo days a week to spare, why not volunteersome of your time to help make the GreatDaffodil Appeal a success. Your time will helpraise much-needed funds so that Marie CurieNurses, like Debbie, can continue their work.

Weddingbells forhearing dogMitchell...

A hearing dog played an extremelyimportant role at a family weddingrecently when he was the ‘ringbearer’ for his deaf recipient’sdaughter’s marriage ceremony.

Mitchell, a five year old fox-terriercross border collie, proudly carriedthe wedding rings in a small ringpouch fastened with burgundyribbon to his collar.“Emily wanted Mitchell to play a

full role at her wedding as he ispart of the family,” explains Don.“So Mitchell carried the rings up tothe alter and the best man, whohad never met Mitchell, untied thesilk bag from around his neck totake the two rings out of a smallleather pouch. Mitchell neverflinched. Everyone, including the

ceremony officiate commented onhis excellent behaviour.”

Don (60) discovered he was losing his hearing twelve years ago and his world fell apart. Aqualified music teacher, Don played the organ six days a week at the local crematorium. Hishearing loss meant that he quite literally withdrew from his life as he struggled to adjust tohis world of virtual silence.

Says Don:“I found myself withdrawing into a shell and became fearful of the ever increas-ing busy world. I tried to involve myself in charity work, but on one occasion I was stayingovernight at a university campus when there was a fire in a nearby building and everybodywas evacuated on the signal of the smoke alarm. I slept through the alarm, not realising itwas sounding. It was then that I decided to apply for a hearing dog who would not onlyalert me to danger signals such as smoke alarms, but also everyday household sounds likethe doorbell and alarm clock.”

Don was matched with Mitchell and the pair have now been together for over three years.“Life has reverted back to much of what it was before, although sadly there can never bemusic again,” says Don.“Having Mitchell by my side has allowed me to avoid much of thestresses of deafness and what was becoming a dangerous world for me. Mitchell is my bestmate, my dearest trusted companion. I couldn’t be without him; he is a big part of me andwho I am now. My family have seen the difference he has made to my life and that’s whyEmily wanted him to play such an important role at her wedding.”

If you would like to find out more about how you can help to change the future ofa deaf person like Don, please contact Hearing Dogs for Deaf People on 01844348100 (voice and minicom), email [email protected] or visit

Leading local Psychotherapist, Martin Smith PhD runs a wellestablished private practice in Long Eaton and specialises in helpingpeople overcome issues around stress and anxiety, which can so oftenblight their lives.

Martin firmly believes that such conditions do not have to rule andruin lives with effective therapy, individuals can take back control oftheir lives and move on. At this time of year as spring approaches it isan ideal time to take action, the problem is that many people takeaction alone and try to solve their problems without vital support.

With the right support, individual efforts, which are so often wellmeaning can be greatly enhanced to the point where life changes can

be made, and the blight of anxiety, stress, depressionand other related issues can be lifted.

Trying to deal with issues like, anxiety, stress, depres-sion and phobias on your own is difficult and when

things do not work the issue just gets worse forthe person. Dragon boat racing has anancient Chinese history and theFestival is a re-enactment of a tragic event thattook place more than 2,000 years ago in thekingdom of Chu. Legend has it that falselyaccused of treason and exiled by jealous rivals inthe government, despairing warrior poet, QuYuan, threw himself into the Mi Lo River. Localfishermen rowed out to save the drowning poetand tried to rescue him from vicious fish bybeating the water with their paddles. But theirattempts failed and every year in Hong Kong aTuen Ng (Dragon Boat) Festival is held as a markof respect for the fishermen’s frantic efforts and tocommemorate the tragic death of Qu Yuan. Thedragon boat’s fierce looking dragon’s heads wereadded later to ward off evil spirits and in HongKong special dumplings are eaten to representthe dumplings that were thrown in to the river tostop the fish eating the mighty Qu’s body.

According to the Chinese calendar, 2011 is theYear of the Rabbit which bodes well for partici-pants in the Dragon Boat Challenge as it isconsidered the luckiest sign in the calendar. Italso symbolises great ambition, talent anddiplomacy, so the winning teams should begracious in their victories! No previous experience is required to take partin the dragon boat racing, just plenty of team spirit so why not take up thechallenge? Thankfully, you don’t need the physical strength of a SteveRedgrave or the athleticism of a Jessica Ennis to be successful as teamwork, timing (and of course a little bit of luck!) win the day. The dragon boats, qualified helms and all racing equipment are provided and each crew of upto 11 people is guaranteed a minimum of three races. The Festival offers afull day of fun on land as well as water with plenty of activities on thebankside to entertain teams and spectators between races.

The Challenge’s official charity, Rainbows Hospice for Children and YoungPeople, is the only children’s hospice in the East Midlands and cares for over220 local children and their families every year. An incredible team helps tocontrol symptoms, improve quality of life and provide end of life care. Toprovide such a high level of expertise and professional care costs £3.8million a year of which less than 15 percent comes from the government.Katie Baxter, Events Manager at the hospice comments:“The Dragon Boat

Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for Rainbows as it gives us a chance toraise essential funds with the help of the local community. Thanks toeveryone involved, we are able to continue to be there.”The top fundraisersfor Rainbows will win the charity trophy plus a special meal kindly donatedby Opium Bar & Restaurant in Nottingham city centre.

Carol Lester, Director of Challenge organisers, Gable Events, adds; “TheChallenge is a great chance for companies and organisations to trysomething completely different, promote themselves to a large localaudience, network with local companies and potential clients and raisemoney for Rainbows. It is also a fantastic team building opportunity - whatbetter way to get to know what makes your colleagues and competitorstick? We expect the Challenge to be even more popular than last year so werecommend teams get their entries in early to guarantee a place”.

New for Light Night,The Eternals arebrought to Nottingham by international

outdoor performance company Kinetika and its partners. These include City Arts Nottingham with support from Nottingham City Council. The Eternals’ visit to Light Night marks an important milestone for Kinetika’s unique, cutting-edge project Imagination Our Nation. ION bringstogether artists, young people and communities across Great Britain, using music, dance and outdoor performance to celebrate culture in ourcommunities.Taking its inspiration from the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Imagination Our Nation aims to involve young people in shaping their future -

becoming champions, achieving their personal best and fulfilling their potential, whatever that may be, as citizens of tomorrow. Representing oneof 5 hubs (or areas of activity)of the innovative 5-year project, City Arts Nottingham is taking a leading role in this national conversation.Imagination Our Nation culminates over the period of the 2012 Games, with huge and fantastic celebratory events involving its thousands ofparticipants from Nottingham and across the UK.

Says Ali Pretty, who devised Imagination Our Nation for Kinetika;“We are thrilled that Light Night will see this fabulous group of characters beingilluminated for the first time. Since our project began in 2008, a number of characters have arrived into communities across Great Britain.Processional structures and magical puppets have brought story, dance, music and wonder to thousands of people in hundreds of events, big andsmall.“Many people will remember the arrival in Nottingham’s Market Square of Star Child, who has since visited a number of schools, parks and events

in the City. We’ve discovered that everyone, especially children, are completely mesmerised by Star Child. No matter where she goes she receives awonderful welcome. And now we have the ‘elders’, the Eternals, here at the Brewhouse Yard, to begin their part in the story.”And Alison Denholm of City Arts adds,“As a core partner of the ION project, we are delighted to be hosting the first gathering of the Eternals, eachof whom will bring at least one smaller Champion puppet with them.Through our community and schools programmes, we have created giantchimes, canopies of leaves and the beautiful Nottingham Goddess. These will all be there to welcome the Eternals. We hope as many people aspossible will be able to see this fabulous event on 18th Feb as part of the Light Night Festival.”

Deciding how you would like your garden tolook is the easy part, the real challenge isfinding the best kind of garden designer tosuit your specific requirements. When considering the design of your

garden, one of the best places to start is bygetting in touch with a local gardener or landscaper.

By contacting a professional you are gainingthe best knowledge about not only the bestway to layout your garden space but alsohow to maintain it as it develops and grows.

Today’s designer needs to draw on skillsthat include a sound horticultural knowledge,an understanding of ecology and conserva-tion, the ability to analyse the garden and, most of all, to interpret effectively the hopesand wishes of the client.

Look through portfolios - a complete gardendesign portfolio covers all aspects of hard-landscaping including structure and drainage,planting design and sourcing, maintenance;

costing, project management, as well as anyspecialist elements including water, lightingand garden furniture.

It’s not enough just to know which plantslook best and what soil to use - especiallywhen you are planning a comprehensivere-design that will allow you to enjoy it’sfeatures for many years to come. There may be many reasons that you need

professional help in your garden from thesimple requirement of needing what can be avery physical job doing to sorting out aneyesore within an otherwise reasonable view. The kind of work you might need could be

led by very practical and hence the buildingof structures such as timber framing anddecking. Some gardens, however, are veryplant or tree oriented - especially largergardens. These considerations can be used toweigh which individual you choose to work

with and trust to produce a garden you arereally happy to be in and enjoy.

It has to be said that every garden designlandscaper has their own distinctive approachand so each can offer something from theirportfolio of work that may excite your interest.

If you haven't done so already, spend sometime looking through various landscape designgalleries online or in magazines.

Professional landscaping can be very afford-able depending on what you want to do. If youhave a good idea about what you want inadvance it helps so you can set your budgetparameters.

And don’t forget to choose quality productsbecause, in the end, you tend to get what youpay for. If you clearly define your budget first, then you can begin your landscape designproject with a set level that you won’t go above.

Most of all: really enjoy making the most ofwhat is one of the most enjoyable ‘rooms’ to‘decorate’ in your entire house!

During this time she has also had to battle againstcancer and undergo major surgery to her shoulder joint which had been damaged by the cancer and subsequenttreatments. During this, the very hardest of times for both my mum and family, the one constant has been the careand total support we as a family have received from the amazing staff at Nottingham Hospice, which I know hasbeen a great comfort to us all whilst allowing my dad the respite from caring which he needs.”

Hospice staff members are also leading by example, Claire Hamer, Fundraising and Marketing Assistant for theHospice, is doing the Reading Half Marathon in March.“Exercise and I have never been close friends,”says Claire,“I’ma complete novice so this is going to be a huge challenge for me!”

The operating costs of the Hospice currently stand at £2.5 million a year of which around 30% comes from N.H.SNottingham and the remaining £1.8 million must be raised through donations, hospice events and sponsoredevents such as those listed above.

other groups in the Greenwood area to plant fifteen trees in the newly created “GreenwoodGrove” at Brierley Forest, the venue for the very first Friends of Greenwood meeting in 2000.The Forum, co-ordinated by the Greenwood Community Forest Team, is made up of members
