Preface MC 1516
Dear Applicant,
On behalf of the whole entity we want to thank you for taking the first step on your
journey towards being part of generation 1517 of AIESEC in Germany. In the last
years our entity has seen a lot of changes. We have challenged everything - our
programs, our processes, our people, our beliefs, and our mindset - to put AIESEC in
Germany on a path towards being a massive, transformative and purposeful
movement. Becoming this movement for sure has not always been easy. Therefore
we are proud that we are able to already see the first results with matching more
young people than ever before in 2015.
Yet still AIESEC in Germany is far away from being where it needs to be. If we want
our vision, if we want peace & fulfillment of humankind’s potential to become reality,
many bold actions are still needed. Every generation is given one year to move as far
forward as it possibly can within twelve months. Every generation aspires to make
everything happen that is needed to make our vision reality. And so do we,
Generation 1516, giving everything every day to be a generation of achievers and
make our ambition 1516 come true. However, learning from generation 1416, already
when we started we knew that one year would not be enough to do everything. We
knew that AIESEC in Germany has to be hungry for more to achieve true greatness. If
you take a look at our world, you know that it needs more leaders. Ensuring this is
what we are here for. Yet the most beautiful purpose is nothing without action.
You, dear applicant, are taking action right now to ensure that more leaders will be
developed to impact the world with their passions, their strengths, their leadership
qualities. Every AIESEC generation needs leaders who stand up for what they believe
in. Your application is just an expression of your will to do exactly so. Our entity needs
people like you who are hungry for more, who will not settle for their achievements
but push for further development of themselves, of the people around them and of
AIESEC in Germany to keep the movement going forward.
Your MC application process in itself will be a leadership development experience.
The conversations you will have with yourself and others will show you new
perspectives, will challenge who you are and with this refine the character that you
will bring into the next MC. It’s a unique experience not many people get to take.
Enjoy it to the fullest.
Your MC team 1516

Preface Johannes, MCP elect
Dear Applicant,
I don’t know you yet, however you are apparently curious on what awaits you in this
application booklet. You probably have some years of life and some years less of
AIESEC experience on your shoulders. I for one am very glad you opened this package
as it means you possess the courage to go the first step towards an experience that is
rather unique in the world. Either out of personal motivation to further explore who
you are or out of professional dedication towards an organization that you enjoy
being part of, you decided to think about applying to become one of the selected few
to be part of the German member committee team 1617. A team which role models
behaviors for 1400 young people in Germany who in turn engage German youth with
AIESEC and our exchange programs of which we all know that they are more than an
experience abroad. They are meant to be a life-changing adventure to start or
accelerate leadership development in its participants. We aim to make youth more
self-aware, more solution oriented, better in empowering others and greater world
citizens. We give an amazing promise to the world, in steadily working for peace and
working for the fulfillment of humankind’s potential.
You are on your way into an organization that wants to demonstrate consistency even
though it changes its leadership completely every year. An AIESEC in Germany with a
beautiful vision, a great ambition and fantastic strategic framework. A community of
people that enjoys being with each other in the face of multiple challenges – be they
in lack of action, financial struggles, over-complexity or frustration with the comfort
of the general student population. An MC team that will give all it has to drive the
progress and change necessary to create the AIESEC this society needs and deserves.
Germany needs us to bring more AIESEC to it. And you can be part of that team.
Therefore I’d like to welcome you on this first steps of an intense journey to yourself.
I want to offer you my support should you wish for it. I encourage you to go in with all
you have. You are the maker of your dreams, the creator of your story. I am humbled
at the thought that you might soon be part of the team that understands what
simplicity and customer centricity actually encompasses. Together we will find out
what the AIESEC of “and” – social enterprise and community – looks and feels like.
Welcome to the ride. Sincerely yours,
Johannes

AIESEC in Germany & MC Life
The Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland) is an iconic symbol in
the middle of Europe with centuries of history and a vast cultural diversity. It has long
been a determining factor in the history of the European continent – sometimes in
bad and sometimes in good ways. Instead of going into our history and current
situation here, you should begin with reading the Wikipedia article and go further
from there to find out more. When talking to a German, you should consider that we
are quite direct and to the point – don’t be afraid though, we are kind at heart.
AIESEC in Germany was founded in 1952 and since then has always been around the
top countries of the organization with 42 local entities and around 1400 members as
well as increasing exchange performance. The MC as a national office serves the local
offices by guiding the development of local operations and providing the required
infrastructure. The responsibility of the MC of AIESEC in Germany is to enable an
organizational framework for strong growth through efficient use of the
organization’s resources. Contrary to other bigger entities the German MC team with
nine positions is comparatively small as we try to build a bottom up culture with only
the necessary services provided centrally.
The German Member Committee office is located in the former capital Bonn and it is
a key point for both our partners and geographical reach. MC Germany has three flats
for the MC members, which are located approx. 25 minutes by tram from the office.
The working hours are from Monday to Friday 8 hours per day – core working hours
are from 10 am to 5 pm.
The MC VP salary after tax and rent deduction will be around 650€ to 870€
depending on which room you pick and tax status. The MC Director salary after tax
and rent deduction will be the same as for MC VPs.
All the selected candidates live in the MC transition flat (“DT Flat”) during transition
from May 1st until June 30th. The amount of salary for the transition period is
dependent on the financial situation of the organization.
4
The Application process
After handing in your application, it will be checked on completeness and basic quality
standards by the MC selection committee. Application deadline is 15th of January,
20:00 GMT +1. If your application does not meet those standards, it will not proceed
to the next stage of the process and you will be notified.
Regional Rounds for VP & Director Applicants
On the 2nd and 3rd, as well as the 5th of February, virtual regional rounds will take
place for each applicant including the IM Director (due to the fact, that roles might be
switched, everyone should get VoC). The regional rounds are mandatory for each LC
and a great opportunity for each LCP to learn more from the candidates. Each
candidate will spend a maximum of 20 minutes for Q&A with each of the six regions
plus 20 min Q&A with the current Member Committee and MCPe. After the regional
rounds, the LCPs will give their vote of confidence. In order to get the vote of
confidence, you as a candidate will have to get two thirds of YES-Votes. If you receive
a vote of confidence, your next step will be a personal interview with the MCP elect,
and a virtual assessment (with a case study and more interviews with the Selection
Committee, the current MCP and/or externals) between the 23th and 26th of
February.
Announcement
The announcement will be on 2nd of March. Its procedure will be announced on time.

Profile MC 1617 Member

should bring to the team or be willing to develop. It certainly differs per position and
personality what you bring to the table, however. For the application be aware of
your peculiarities and how you interact with others.
At the core you should reflect on your level of the four leadership traits.
For any future MC member these characteristics are of importance:
optimism and hope that the world can be changed for the better
a personal purpose as well as core values
your very own personality: character
The MC is not the arena to find your personal core, it is where you refine or reinvent it.
From the start there should be something to work from.
Additionally different combinations of characteristics and behaviors are needed. They
will not be represented in one person, yet spread across the team as a whole:

MC structure
Disclaimer: This booklet cannot provide the final structure &
JDs of the MC team 1617 as this will be decided upon by the
MCPe along with the selection of MC team and taking into
account the findings of the selection process.
The structure on the left is based on the
proposed strategy of 1617, which is again based
on the strategy of 1416 to support consistency.
In 1415, amongst other things, we have managed
to inject the need for change into AIESEC in
Germany manifested in a beautiful vision for our
entity. With the organizational development
model we gave this change a direction. Now in
1516 we went into detail and created a strong
ambition backed up by a smart strategic
framework and started important developments
in organizational culture, namely bottom-up
culture. With digitalization and business model
implementation we are taking the right steps
towards a leadership centric two-sided platform.
In 1617 we will accelerate our business model
with a more marketing-heavy structure based on
customer needs and an activated membership.
With one person responsible for each major
program we are able to handle the customer flow
comprehensively. Operations and marketing will be merged into one powerful
position. It is important to understand that with the current developments in AIESEC
this is representing a more customer- and marketing oriented structure.
As the structure is prone to change, please read all the job descriptions carefully and
understand each one with their synergies and focus.
