An Independent Newspaper Serving the Athletes of the Springville Schools and Area Community SPRINGVILLE GIRLS PLACE 2ND IN CASCADE TOURNAMENT The Springville, 5th grade youth team is creating a legacy of their own. They added to their hardware collection last Saturday when they placed 2nd at a tournament held in Cascade. Coached by the trio of Russ Wagaman and Jeff & Robin Menster, the girls played 3 games, defeating Cascade and Monticello before falling to Center Point in the Championship game. All in all, eight teams played in the tournament and the Springville Future O’s came away with 2nd, great job ladies. SPRINGVILLE GIRLS PLACE 2ND IN CASCADE TOURNAMENT The Springville, 5th grade youth team is creating a legacy of their own. They added to their hardware collection last Saturday when they placed 2nd at a tournament held in Cascade. Springville 7th and 8th grade boys both finished up their season at Monticello last Thursday. Both the 7th grade team and the 8th grade team, wrapped up the year with an even 4-4 record. SENIOR “O” Oriole Pride feature’s Springville Seniors in hopes of learning a little beyond their jersey number, the position they play or the activity they pursue. Our profile this week is Senior Alec Jamison. Where were you born? Cedar Rapids, St. Lukes Hospital How many brothers/sisters, and are you the oldest/youngest? 1 Brother, 1 Sister, I am the youngest. I also have 3 nieces. Parents names; Renee and Brett Jamison. Springville activities you have participated in; Choir, band and baseball. Favorite movie; Forrest Gump Favorite food; Chinese Who do you text the most? My girlfriend, Hope. If you could meet one famous person who would you choose? Kenny Chesney What do you like to do in your free time? Fishing, spending time outside when it’s warm, playing games. If you could choose a week's vacation anywhere in the world, where would you want to go? Bahamas or anywhere warm. What are your plans after high school? Go to Kirkwood for two years and then transfer to a four year University to study business. Xbox or Playstation? Xbox Name the make, model, year and color of your dream car; 1966 Flame Red Pontiac GTO. If you auditioned for American Idol, what song would you sing? Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. In the year 2021, you will celebrate your 10 year high school reunion, what will you be doing? I will be well on my way into my career and settled down with a family.

SPRINGVILLE YOUTH SPORT TEAMS WRAP UP A TRAVEL SEASON All youth teams were in action again last Saturday. Besides the girls in Cascade, the boys were spread out between Mt. Vernon and Lisbon, as all teams grade 2 through 6 finished up a winter season that helped them learn what it takes to compete as they prepare to take their skills to the next level. Great job to all teams and coaches on representing Springville so well in area communities.

ORIOLE LEGENDS Oriole Pride features Springville alumni who still have ties to the community. This week we feature Springville graduate, and Mother of this weeks Senior “O” Alec— Renee Jamison; Maiden name… Fehlhafer Class of ;1980 Name of husband and how long you’ve been married? Brett, 20 years. Activities participated in while in high school; Swing Choir, Concert Choir, Girls Glee, Golf, Class Officer and Drama. What is one of the craziest things you did while in high school? Cruise 1st Avenue in Cedar Rapids on the weekends and talk to everyone. (You don’t dare do that these days!) Did you have a nickname? Nay Nay or Flip Flop Most influential teacher in high school and the subject they taught; Ms. Janet Ireland (English). She was strict, but was a great teacher and she taught me a lot. How many students were in your senior class? 51 What was the theme of your Senior Prom? Don’t remember the theme, but I do remember we had music by the “Silver Dollar Band”. Who was featured on the posters hanging in your bedroom during high school? Donny Osmond, Michael Jackson & The Jackson Five and David Cassidy. What did you want to be when you were 12 years old? A nurse and a mom. If you were to write an autobiography - what would the title be? The Life of Raising Children, Mine and Yours (I’ve done childcare for 18 years). If you could have one superpower, what would it be? To be able to transport myself anywhere I want. If they were to make a movie about you, who would play you? Probably Julia Roberts. Not because she looks like me, but because she’s always been my favorite actress. A quick word of wisdom for Springville students; Respect yourself and others, Love God, and do your best at everything you do.
