Over 18,000 people joined in the 17th HaverfordTownship Day celebrating 100 years of the township’sincorporation (1912-2012). Festivities included thecivic parade, 35 food vendors, 160 craft and fleamarket vendors, children’s rides, 30 volunteer booths,a Green Zone, live bands at 4 stages, and the buryingof a time capsule at the township clock on Darby Rd.

Basketball CourtsShoot around by yourself or with friends or family. Great way tostay fit, work on your game or teach your child. No full courtgames are permitted during these times.Times: 6am - 6pm Monday - Friday.

PickleballLearn the fastest growing game in the country, especially amongthose over the age of 50 who enjoy playing tennis, ping-pong orracquetball. No experience needed.Times: 9 am - 12 noon Monday and Thursday.

Field Trips at the CRECBeginning March 18Your school class, church group, scout troop, business or organiza-tion can enjoy a fun field trip or outing close to home, in a cleanfacility located in a spectacular natural setting.

Some of the amenities available to you include:A high-tech Environmental/nature lab, an outdoor classroom - adouble gymnasium for a variety of games - an ExerWall for fun teambuilding games - a catering kitchen - a multi-use room with audiovisiual equipment - outdoor deck overlooking the trails and openspace.In addition there are 4 miles of trails, ball fields, 124 acres of openspace, 3 streams and a 12,000 sq. ft playground.

There are 2 basic options to choose from:1) You or your group rents the space(s) requested and use it to suityour educational or recreational needs.2) We develop and lead an environmental, educational or recre-ational activity or program using the CREC facilities suited to yourgroup’s age, interests and needs.

Trail News...

Darby Creek TrailYou may have noticed the improvements to the trail along DarbyCreek from Merry Place to the Bus Yard near West Chester Pike.This paved, 1.2 mile accessible multi-use trail allows people of allages and abilities to enjoy the beauty and the serenity of DarbyCreek. (*All dogs must be on leash.) The improvements werefunded with a $290,000 grant acquired from the Delaware ValleyRegional Planning Commission.

A “Friends of Haverford Trails” group has beenformed to support all trails, including those at Haverford Reserve andthe Haverford Heritage Trail. Over 100 members have joined. Forinformation or to join us go to haverfordciviccouncil.org
